어느 것이 옳은가

행 4:1-22

 

베드로와 요한이 성전 미문에서 구걸하던 앉은뱅이를 일으킨 일로 하나님께 영광을 돌리며 담대하게 복음을 전하자, 제사장들과 성전을 맡은 자들과 사두개인들이 일어나서 사도들을 결박하고 또 박해하기 시작했습니다. 생각하면 성령이 충만하여 기적이 일어나는 것을 보고도 어떻게 사도들을 대적할 수 있었을까 하는 생각이듭니다. 이러한 사례들은 많이 볼 수 있습니다.

 

1. 빛의 역사와 어둠의 역사

주님께서 요단강에서 세례를 받으실 때 성령이 비둘기같이 임하시며 하늘에서 들려온 소리입니다.

"너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라 내가 너를 기뻐하노라"(눅3:22).

그때 주님은 40일 동안 광야로 나가서 금식하며 사탄에게 시험을 받았던 것입니다.

갈멜산의 엘리야도 마찬가지입니다. 삼 년 육 개월이나 비가 오지 않아 백성들이 기근에 허덕일 때 "불로서 응답하는 신이 참 신이라" 하고, 바알 신을 섬기는 제사장들과 단판의 대결로 하늘에서 불이 내려 하나님이 참 신이심을 증명하고 바알 우상을 섬기는 제사장들을 기손 시냇가에서 죽였습니다.

그런데 이세벨의 마음은 더 강퍅해져서 엘리야의 목숨을 빼앗으려 하므로 엘리야는 로뎀나무 아래서 죽기를 구하였던 것입니다.

원리적으로 생각하면 빛 앞에서 어둠은 존재할 수 없습니다. 그러나 이 세상은 어둠이 왕 노릇하므로 성령의 역사가 왕성하면 마귀의 역사도 왕성하게 일어난다는 사실을 깨달아야 합니다.

 

2. 진리를 싫어하는 자들

"사도들이 백성에게 말할 때에 제사장들과 성전 맡은 자와 사두개인들이 이르러 예수 안에 죽은 자의 부활이 있다고 백성을 가르치고 전함을 싫어하여"(1-2절).

마땅히 복음을 앞장서서 선포해야 할 종교지도자들이 진리의 길을 막고 도리어 박해하고 있습니다. 진리를 싫어하는 자들이 누구일까요?

1) 어둠에 속한 자들입니다.

"악을 행하는 자마다 빛을 미워하여 빛으로 오지 아니하나니 이는 그 행위가 드러날까 함이요"(요3:20).

인류가 걸어온 발자취를 살펴보면 한때는 문명의 발상지로서 역사에 큰 영향을 끼친 나라들이 허무하게 사라져간 흔적들을 많이 보게 됩니다. 원인이 무엇일까요? 이는 불의와 죄악으로 정신적인 문명이 타락했기 때문입니다. 그러므로 우리는 떨며 범죄하지 말고 빛에 속하여 진리에 순응하는 성도들이 되어야 합니다.

2) 비진리에 속한 자들입니다.

이는 불신자를 의미하는 것보다는 신앙을 가지고도 영생에 이르지 못하는 모든 자들이 될 것입니다. 여기는 신앙의 탈을 쓴 비진리가 있습니다. 주님을 십자가에 넘긴 자들이 누구입니까? 바리새인들이요, 서기관들이요, 제사장들입니다. 주의 복음을 싫어하는 자들이 누구입니까? 이스라엘 사람들이었습니다. 왜 그처럼 메시아를 대망하면서 오신 메시아를 미워하였을까요? 비진리에 속했기 때문입니다. 그들에게는 모세의 율법이 있었고 선지자의 예언이 있었습니다. 그런데 진리에 이르지 못했다면 이 같은 모순이 있을까요?

그들에게 경건의 모양은 있었으나 경건의 능력은 없었고, 율법은 있었으나 복음은 없었습니다. 그들이 진리를 바로 알았다면 영광의 주님을 십자가에 못 박아 죽일 수 없었을 것입니다. 그들에게는 예수 그리스도는 메시아가 아닌, 나사렛 목수의 아들일 뿐이었습니다. 그들이 가진 잘못된 선입관 때문에 소자로 오신 메시아를 영접하지 않았으나, 영접하는 자 곧 그 이름을 믿는 자들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주신다고 하셨습니다.

3) 마귀에게 속한 자들입니다.

마귀는 처음부터 진리의 원수로, 하나님을 대적하였습니다.

“하나님의 아들이 나타나신 것은 마귀의 일을 멸하려 하심이니라"(요일 3:8).

마귀와 가까이하면 어떤 현상이 나타나는지 아십니까? 먼저 진리를 의심하게 만들고 다음에는 불신하게 합니다. 이로 인해 진리는 비진리로, 마귀의 소리 곧 비진리를 진리로 믿게 합니다.

미국에서 다윗파 사교 집단의 교주 코레쉬의 방화로 백 명이 넘는 사람들이 집단 자살한 사건이 있었습니다. 그도 역시 천구백팔십 년대부터 육육육 숫자풀이로 지구 종말이 왔다고 떠들던 종말론 자였습니다. 그동안 부인을 십팔 명이나 거느리고 엽색 행각을 해왔는데도, 그 올무에서 벗어나지 못한 자들은 결국 불타서 죽고 말았습니다. 놀라운 일은 아직도 미국에 이러한 단체들이 칠백 개나 있다고 합니다.

"미혹하는 마귀가 불과 유황 못에 던져지니 거기는 그 짐승과 거짓 선지자도 있어 세세토록 밤낮 괴로움을 받으리라"(계20:10)

 

3. 복음의 권세

"대제사장 안나스와 가야바와 요한과 알렉산더와 및 대제사장의 문중이 다 참여하여 사도들을 가운데 세우고 묻되 너희가 무슨 권세와 누구의 이름으로 이 일을 행하였느냐"(6-7절).

"베드로가 성령이 충만하여 이르되 백성의 관리들과 장로들아 만일 병자에게 행한 착한 일에 대하여 이 사람이 어떻게 구원을 받았느냐고 오늘 우리에게 질문한다면 너희와 모든 이스라엘 백성들은 알라 너희가 십자가에 못 박고 하나님이 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 나사렛 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 이 사람이 건강하게 되어 너희 앞에 섰느니라"(8-10절).

얼마나 당당합니까? 제사장의 공문을 받아, 믿는 사람을 박해하고 잡아 가두기 위해 다메섹으로 가던 사울의 경우와 비교해 보십시오. 한 편은 종교적인 배경을 가졌고 한 편은 성령의 능력을 힘입었습니다. 그러나 제사장의 공문으로는 앉은뱅이를 일으킬 수 없으나 성령의 능력은 일으켰습니다.

'나사렛 예수 그리스도' 그 이름은 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름입니다. 오늘 우리는 이 진리를 알지 못해 박해하고 대적하는 원수 무리의 반열에 서지 않고, 믿음과 순종으로 진리를 증언하는 전도자가 된 것을 감사하시기 바랍니다. 더욱 담대한 믿음을 가지십시오.

"그러므로 너희 담대함을 버리지 말라 이것이 큰 상을 얻게 하느니라"(히10:35).

 

4. 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되신 예수 그리스도

"이 예수는 너희 건축자들의 버린 돌로서 집 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되었느니라"(11절).

머릿돌을 버린 자는 누구이며, 버려진 머릿돌을 모퉁이 돌로 삼아 새집을 지은 분은 누구일까요?

지금부터 사천 년 전, 하나님께서 아브라함을 택하시고 그에게 하신 말씀입니다.

"너는 너의 고향과 친척과 아버지의 집을 떠나 내가 네게 보여줄 땅으로 가라"(창 12:!).

이 말씀은 아브라함에게 국한된 복이 아니라 하나님의 나라를 이 땅에 건설하기 위한 예정섭리가 있는 것입니다. 그런데 땅 위에 천국을 건설하는 데 중요한 것은 진리의 기초입니다.

세계 7대 불가사의에 들어있는 피사의 사탑은 어느 때부터 기울기 시작했는지 알 수 없으나 기초가 약하면 그렇게 되는 것입니다. 천국은 기초가 완벽합니다. 그러므로 그 나라는 영원한 것입니다.

사실 이스라엘 민족은 지구상의 많은 민족 중에서도 특수한 임무를 부여받은 자들입니다. 인류 역사의 흐름을 보면 다른 민족은 자연 발생한 민족이나 이스라엘 민족은 하나님의 선택과 언약에 의해 탄생된 민족입니다. 그러므로 그 백성들은 바울의 고백대로 모든 인류 앞에 생명의 빚을 진 민족입니다.

그런데도 오늘의 이스라엘은 어떻습니까? 정신적으로, 영적으로 그들이 감당해야 할 중대한 사명과 임무를 저버리고 말았습니다. 모세의 율법은 유대교라는 민족 종교로 전락하여 오늘까지 이방과 선민이라는 구약의 틀에서 벗어나지 못한 채 전능하신 하나님을 유대민족에 국한된 신으로 전락시키고 말았습니다.

이렇게 된 이유는 기초를 잘못 놓았기 때문이요, 모퉁이의 머릿돌을 버렸기 때문입니다. 그러므로 이스라엘은 인류 앞에 영생의 소망을 주는 나라가 아닌 진리의 원수로 전락하였습니다. 감사할 일은 하나님께서 그리스도를 집 모퉁이의 머릿돌로 새집을 지으셨는데 그 집이 곧 피로 값 주고 사신 교회입니다. 그러므로 이제는 생명수 강물이 유대 예루살렘이 아닌 주님의 몸 된 교회를 통해 흘러 나와서 세계 만민의 영혼을 소성하게 함을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

"다른 이로써는 구원을 받을 수 없나니 천하사람 중에 구원을 받을 만한 다른 이름을 우리에게 주신 일이 없음이라"(12절).

 

5. 하나님의 말씀과 사람의 말

"그들이 베드로와 요한이 담대하게 말함을 보고 그들을 본래 학문 없는 범인으로 알았다가 이상히 여기며 또 전에 예수와 함께 있던 줄도 알고"(13절).

쌀통에서 쌀이, 물통에서 물이 나오듯, 전도자들의 입에는 세상이 감당할 수 없는 복음이 터져 나왔습니다. 성령이 충만하여 복음을 대적하는 원수들 앞에서 증언하는 전도자들의 말씀은 능력이 있었고 또 담대하게 선포되었습니다.

'담대하게' 이는 스스럼없이, 막히지 아니하고, 더욱 담대히, 라는 의미입니다. 또 유의할 것은 사도들을 "본래 학문 없는 범인으로 알았다"는 것입니다. 이는 사람을 잘못 평가한 것이 아닙니다. 그러나 지금 그들의 입을 통해 선포되는 말씀은 세상 학문이 아니라 그리스도 예수의 복음입니다. 다시 말씀드리면 지금 그들과 함께 하는 성령을 알지 못하고 있었다는 것입니다. 우리 모두 성령이 충만하여 복음의 증인 되기를 소원합니다.

제사장과 서기관들은 사도들을 위협하고 경계하여 도무지 예수의 이름으로 말하지도 말고 가르치지도 말라고 하니 베드로와 요한이 외친 말입니다.

"베드로와 요한이 대답하여 이르되 하나님께서 너희의 말을 듣는 것이 하나님의 말씀을 듣는 것보다 옳은가 판단하라 우리는 보고 들은 것을 말하지 아니할 수 없다"(19-20절).

얼마나 놀라운 은혜입니까? 관원들은 백성들로 인하여 그들을 어떻게 벌할 도리를 찾지 못하고 다시 위협한 후 놓아 주었다고 했습니다. 우리 모두 능력 받아 땅끝까지 주님의 증인 되기를 기원합니다. 아멘

When Peter and John boldly preached the gospel, glorifying God for raising the lame beggar at the beautiful gate of the temple, the priests, those in charge of the temple, and the Sadducees arose and bound the apostles and began to persecute them. When I think about it, I wonder how I was able to resist the apostles even after I was filled with the Holy Spirit and saw miracles happen. You can see many of these examples.

 

1. History of Light and History of Darkness

When the Lord was being baptized in the Jordan River, the Holy Spirit descended like a dove, and it was a voice heard from heaven.

“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased” (Luke 3:22).

Then the Lord went out into the wilderness for 40 days to fast and be tempted by Satan.

The same is true of Elijah of Mount Carmel. When there was no rain for three years and six months and the people suffered from famine, they said, "The God who answers with fire is the true God." In a confrontation with the priests who serve the god of Baal, fire fell from heaven, proving that God is the true God, He killed the priests who served him at the brook Kishon.

But Jezebel's heart became hardened and she wanted to take Elijah's life, so Elijah sought death under the rosemary tree.

In principle, darkness cannot exist in front of light. However, since darkness reigns in this world, we must realize that if the work of the Holy Spirit is active, the work of the devil will also flourish.

 

2. Those Who Hate the Truth

“As the apostles were speaking to the people, the priests, the temple officers, and the Sadducees came to them, and they were loath to teach and tell the people that there is the resurrection of the dead in Jesus” (verses 1-2).

Religious leaders who should take the lead in proclaiming the Gospel are blocking the way of truth and persecuting them. Who hates the truth?

1) Those who belong to darkness.

“Everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed” (John 3:20).

If you look at the footsteps of mankind, you will see many traces of the vanishing of countries that once had a great influence on history as the birthplace of civilization. What could be the cause? This is because the spiritual civilization has been corrupted by injustice and sin. Therefore, we should not tremble and sin, but become believers who belong to the light and conform to the truth.

2) Those who belong to the untruth.

This will not mean unbelievers, but will be all those who have faith and do not reach eternal life. Here is the untruth in the disguise of faith. Who delivered the Lord to the cross? Pharisees, scribes, and priests. Who are those who hate the gospel of the Lord? They were Israelis. Why did they hate the Messiah who had come so eagerly for the Messiah? Because they belonged to the untruth. They had the law of Moses and the prophecies of the prophets. But if the truth is not reached, is there such a contradiction?

They had the form of godliness but not the power of godliness; they had the law but no gospel. If they had known the truth, they would not have been able to crucify the Lord of glory to death. To them, Jesus Christ was not the Messiah, but the carpenter's son of Nazareth. They did not receive the Messiah who came as a small child because of their false preconceived notions, but he said that to those who received him, those who believed in his name, he would give them the right to become children of God.

3) They belong to the devil.

The devil has resisted God as the enemy of truth from the beginning.

“For the Son of God appeared to destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).

Do you know what happens when you get close to the devil? First it makes you doubt the truth, and then it makes you disbelieve. Because of this, the truth is untruth, and the voice of the devil, that is, untruth, is believed to be the truth.

In the United States, over a hundred people committed suicide in the arson of Koresh, head of the Davidic cult. He, too, was an apocalypticist who talked about the end of the earth by solving the six and six numbers since the nineteen hundred and eightieth century. In the meantime, even though he had acted with his eighteen wives, those who could not escape from the snare eventually burned to death. Surprisingly, there are still seven hundred such organizations in the United States.

“The deceitful devil is thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also, and he will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10).

 

3. The power of the gospel

“And Annas and Caiaphas the high priests, and John and Alexander, and all the members of the high priest’s household, gathered the apostles in the midst and asked, “By what authority and by what name have you done these things?” (verses 6-7).

"Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said, "O rulers and elders of the people, if we ask today how this man was saved because of the good deeds he did to the sick, then you and all the people of Israel should know that you and all the people of Israel were crucified and God In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who was raised from the dead, this man is made well and stands before you” (verses 8-10).

How arrogant are you? Compare that to the case of Saul, who went to Damascus to persecute, arrest, and imprison a believer after receiving a priestly letter. One had a religious background and the other was empowered by the Holy Spirit. However, the priest's official notice could not raise the lame, but the power of the Holy Spirit did.

'Jesus Christ of Nazareth' That name is above all names. Today we do not know this truth, so we do not stand in the ranks of the enemies who persecute and oppose us, but give thanks for becoming an evangelist who bears witness to the truth through faith and obedience. Be bolder in your faith.

“Therefore, do not forsake your courage, for this has a great reward” (Hebrews 10:35).

 

4. Jesus Christ as the Cornerstone

“This Jesus is the stone rejected by your builders, and has become the cornerstone of the house” (verse 11).

Who threw away the headstone, and who built a new house using the abandoned headstone as a corner stone?

Four thousand years ago, God chose Abraham and spoke to him.

“Leave your country and your relatives and your father’s house and go to the land I will show you” (Genesis 12:!).

These words are not a blessing limited to Abraham, but the providence of predestination to build the kingdom of God on this earth. But what is important in building heaven on earth is the foundation of truth.

It is not known when the leaning tower of Pisa, which is included in the seven wonders of the world, began to tilt, but it is if the foundation is weak. Heaven has a perfect foundation. Therefore, the kingdom is eternal.

In fact, the nation of Israel is one of the many peoples on earth who have been given a special mission. If you look at the flow of human history, other peoples are naturally occurring peoples, but the Israeli people are peoples created by God's choice and covenant. Therefore, according to Paul's confession, those people are a nation that owes life to all mankind.

But what about today's Israel? Mentally and spiritually, they forsook their important mission and mission. The Mosaic Law was reduced to the national religion of Judaism, and until today, Almighty God has been reduced to a God limited to the Jewish people, without breaking out of the Old TestAment frame of the Gentiles and the chosen people.

This was because the foundation was laid wrong, and the cornerstone was thrown away. Therefore, Israel is not a nation that gives the hope of eternal life to mankind, but has been reduced to the enemy of the truth. The thing to be thankful for is that God built a new house with Christ as the cornerstone of the house, and that house is the church that he bought with his blood. Therefore, please believe that the river of the water of life now flows through the Church, the body of the Lord, and not through Jerusalem, Judea, and revives the souls of all peoples around the world.

“Salvation can be found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to us by which we must be saved” (verse 12).

 

5. The Word of God and the Word of Man

“When they saw that Peter and John spoke boldly, they recognized them as ignorant criminals, but they marveled at them and knew that they had been with Jesus before” (verse 13).

Just as rice comes out of a bowl of rice and water comes out of a bucket, the gospel that the world cannot handle burst out of the mouths of the evangelists. The words of the evangelists, who were filled with the Holy Spirit and testified before the enemies who oppose the gospel, were proclaimed with power and boldly.

'Boldly' means without hesitation, without being blocked, and more boldly. It should also be noted that the apostles were "originally recognized as ignorant criminals." This is not a bad evaluation of people. However, the word that is being proclaimed through their mouths is not the science of the world, but the gospel of Christ Jesus. In other words, they did not know the Holy Spirit who is with them now. May we all be filled with the Holy Spirit and become witnesses of the Gospel.

The priests and scribes threatened the apostles and warned them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus, which Peter and John shouted.

"Peter and John answered and said, "Whether it is right for God to listen to you rather than to hear Him, for we are compelled to speak of what we have seen and heard" (verses 19-20).

What a wonderful grace. The rulers could not find any way to punish them because of the people, so they threatened them again and then released them. I pray that we will all receive power and become the Lord's witnesses to the ends of the earth. Amen
