중보 기도

요17:1-12

 

본 장은 대제사장이신 주님께서 올리신 중보기도입니다. 이 기도에 관해서 주석가들은 여러 가지로 말하고 있습니다.

"하나님의 아들이 스스로 드린 이 기도보다 더 높고 깨끗하고 아름다운 소리는 하늘에서도, 땅에서도 들린 적이 없었다."(Melanchthon)

"이 기도는 예수의 설교에 권위를 주는 인장이다."(Calvin)

"그 울리는 소리는 단순하나 그 깊이와 넓이의 풍성한 것은 측량할 수 없다"(Luter)

"이는 성경의 말씀 중 가장 쉽고 뜻이 깊은 한 장이다"(Bengel).

이렇게 주님께서 올린 이 기도는 세상에 있는 자기 사람들을 사랑하시되 끝까지 사랑하사(요13:1), 그중 하나도 실족하지 않도록 하기 위한 기도입니다. 영원한 대제사장이신 주님의 기도에서 특징을 찾는다면 그 효험에 있어서 모든 사람이 아닌 택한 자들을 위한 기도요 또 하나 되기 위한 기도라는 것입니다.

 

1. 기도의 중요성

하나님의 구원 섭리는 이미 예정된 일이므로 한 치의 오차도 있을 수가 없는 하나님의 주권 행사입니다. 그런데 기도가 필요한 이유를 우리는 알아야 합니다. 주님께서는 말씀으로 우주 만물을 창조하신 분으로 하시고자 원하시면 능치 못하심이 없으십니다.

"주여 원하시면 저를 깨끗하게 하실 수 있나이다...내가 원하노니 깨끗함을 받으라 하시니 즉시 그의 나병이 깨끗하여진지라"(마8:2-3).

이렇게 전능하신 주님이신데 주님의 공생애를 보면 기도로 시작하여 기도로 마치신 것은 기도의 필요성과 중요성을 일깨워 주시는 것입니다. 주님께서 제자의 발을 씻겨 주신 교훈을 어떻게 보십니까? 그 일을 평범하게 생각하면 평범할 뿐이나 진리적인 의미를 깨달을 때는 그리스도의 사랑을 실천하는 생명의 교훈이 됩니다. 그러므로 우리는 주님을 본받아 기도해야 합니다.

1) 기도로 영력을 얻게 됩니다.

"무엇을 하실 수 있거든 우리를 불쌍히 여기사 도와주옵소서 예수께서 이르시되 할 수 있거든이 무슨 말이냐 믿는 자에게는 능히 하지 못할 일이 없느니라 하시니 곧 그 아이의 아버지가 소리를 질러 이르되 내가 믿나이다 나의 믿음 없는 것을 도와주소서 하더라...말 못하고 못 듣는 귀신아 내가 네게 명하노니 그 아이에게서 나오고 다시 들어가지 말라 하시매 귀신이 소리 지르며 아이로 심히 경련을 일으키게 하고 나가니"(막9:22-26).

이렇게 말 못하고 못 듣는 귀신이라 할지라도 주님의 말씀에는 반응을 보였고 축출되었습니다.

"제자들이 종용히 묻자오되 우리는 어찌하여 능히 그 귀신을 쫓아내지 못하였나이까 이르시되 기도 외에 다른 것으로는 이런 종류가 나갈 수 없느니라"(막9:28-29).

악령은 권력이나 돈으로 다스릴 수 없습니다. 오직 기도로 다스릴 수 있습니다. 감당하기 어려운 시험이 있습니까? 기도하십시요. 기도는 왕의 마음도 움직일 수 있습니다. 에스더와 같이 기도로 무장하여 승리하는 성도가 되시기 소원합니다.

2) 기도는 하나님의 비밀을 깨닫게 합니다.

하나님의 사람들은 모두가 기도의 사람들이었습니다. 다니엘은 기도하여 느브갓네살의 꿈을 해몽하였고, 또 "칠십 년이 차면 돌아오리라"(렘29:10)는 예레미야의 예언을 붙들고 기도했습니다. 여기서 우리가 기억해야 할 것은 기도하지 않아도 아침이면 해가 뜨고 저녁이면 밤이 옵니다. 이같이 인간의 생사화복도 하나님의 예정과 섭리에 따라 움직여지지만 기도하지 않으면 하나님의 섭리를 깨닫지 못한다는 것입니다. 이것이 중요한 것은 여기에 구원받는 문제가 달려있기 때문입니다. 우리가 하나님의 섭리를 깨닫지 못하면 어떻게 되는지 아십니까? 감사와 찬양을 잃게 됩니다.

감사와 찬양이 없는 곳은 지옥입니다. 모든 일을 우연으로 돌리는 무신론자로 전락이 되는 것입니다. 우리는 다니엘과 같이 기도하여 하나님의 섭리를 깨닫고 영광 돌리는 성도들이 되어야 하겠습니다.

 

2. 아버지의 영광과 아들의 영광

"아버지여 창세전에 내가 아버지와 함께 가졌던 영화로서 지금도 아버지와 함께 나를 영화롭게 하옵소서"(5절).

여기서 예수의 근본과 그 영광이 하나님과 동등 됨을 알 수가 있습니다.

1) 예수의 근본은 하나님과 동일합니다.

"그는 근본 하나님의 본체시나"(빌2:6).

주님은 아브라함 이전부터 계실 뿐 아니라 창세 전부터 계셨습니다. 이를 알지 못했던 유대인들은 예수를 돌로 치려했습니다.

“너희 조상 아브라함은 나의 때 볼 것을 즐거워하다가 보고 기뻐하였느니라 유대인들이 이르되 네가 아직 오십 세도 못되었는데 아브라함을 보았느냐 예수께서 이르시되 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 아브라함이 나기 전부터 내가 있느니라”(요8:56-58).

2) 예수의 영광은 하나님과 동등합니다.

"아버지여 창세전에 내가 아버지와 함께 가졌던 영화로써"(5절).

아버지의 영광은 아들의 영광으로 그 영광은 동등합니다. 특히 육신을 입으시고 죽기까지 복종하여 하나님의 뜻을 이룩하신 일은 죄인을 구원하기 위한 대속의 은총입니다.

"그는 근본 하나님의 본체시나 하나님과 동등 됨을 취할 것으로 여기지 아니하시고 오히려 자기를 비워 종의 형제를 가지사 사람들과 같이 되셨고 사람의 모양으로 나타나사 자기를 낮추시고 죽기까지 복종하셨으니 곧 십자가에 죽으심이라 이러므로 하나님이 그를 지극히 높여 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름을 주사 하늘에 있는 자들과 땅에 있는 자들과 땅 아래 있는 자들로 모든 무릎을 예수의 이름에 꿇게 하시고 모든 입으로 예수 그리스도를 주라 시인하여 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하셨느니라"(빌2:6-11).

 

3. 영생의 지식

"영생은 곧 유일하신 참 하나님과 그가 보내신 자 예수 그리스도를 아는 것이니이다"(3절).

이 말씀은 이방인의 다신론적 신관에 비해 유일하신 하나님을 가르치는 진리입니다. 유대교인들을 비롯하여 회교도나 소시니언주의자들도 하나님을 한 분으로 고백합니다. 그러나 그리스도를 통하지 않고는 하나님을 알 수가 없다는 사실을 깨달아야 합니다.

여기서 '안다'는 말씀은 이성적 이해가 아니라 인격적인 이해와 결합을 의미하는 것으로서 이는 머리나 가슴의 이해가 아니라 하나님의 본질에 결합되는 것을 가르키는 것입니다.

여러분! 하나님과 예수를 어떻게 알고 있습니까? 진리를 바로 앎으로 하나님과 하나 되는 은혜의 사람이 되기를 소원합니다.

 

4. 택한 자를 위한 기도

본 장은 영원한 대제사장으로서 올린 중보 기도입니다. 주님께서는 지금도 우리를 위해 기도하고 계십니다. 주님의 기도는 멸망 받을 죄인들을 위함이 아닌 믿고 순종하여 구원받은 성도들을 위해서입니다. 유의할 것은 주님께서 유다를 위해서는 기도하지 않으셨다는 것입니다.

"내가 그들은 위하여 비옵나니 내가 비옵는 것은 세상을 위함이 아니요 내게 주신 자들을 위함이니이다 그들은 아버지의 것이로소이다"(9절).

대제사장으로서 이 기도는 영원토록 변하지 않고 효험이 있음을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

"시몬아, 시몬아, 보라 사탄이 너희를 밀 까부르듯 하려고 요구하였으나 그러나 내가 너를 위하여 네 믿음이 떨어지지 않기를 기도하였노니 너는 돌이킨 후에 네 형제를 굳게 하라"(눅22:31-32).

주님의 기도는 베드로를 실족하지 않게 하였을 뿐 아니라 그를 수제자가 되게 하였느나 주께서 가룟 유다를 위해서는 기도한 일이 없습니다. 가룟 유다는 마귀로 전락하고 마귀에게 속한 사람이었기 때문입니다. 주님께서 세상에 오신 목적은 마귀의 구원을 위해서가 아니라 타락한 인간을 구원하기 위해서입니다.

"내가 너희 열둘을 택하지 아니하였느냐 그러나 너희 중의 한 사람은 마귀니라"(요6:70).

멸망 받는 일을 하나님의 예정이라 생각하지 마십시오. 하나님은 한 사람도 멸망 받지 않고 영생에 이르기를 원하십니다. 그러나 하나님의 능력이 무한할지라도 스스로 멸망의 길을 자초하는 데는 달리 방법이 없는 것입니다. 지금 우리 사회를 병들게 하는 심각한 문제가 무엇입니까? 마약입니다. 심지어 시중 약국에서 쉽게 구할 수 있는 감기약 중에 항정신성 의약품이 있는데, 그것을 다량으로 복용하여 환각에 빠져드는 자들이 있다고 합니다. 누가 그런 일을 시켜서 합니까? 스스로 찾아서 하는 것입니다. 세상 어디에도 그런 자들을 환영하고 맞아 줄 나라는 없을 줄 압니다.

"내가 그들과 함께 있을 때에 내게 주신 아버지의 이름으로 그들을 보전하고 지키었나이다 그중에 하나도 멸망하지 않고 다만 멸망의 자식뿐이오니 이는 성경을 응하게 함이니이다"(12절).

택한 자들을 위한 기도에서 두 가지 중요한 사실을 발견할 수 있습니다.

1) 하나 되기를 위하는 기도입니다.

"나는 세상에 더 있지 아니하오나 그들은 세상에 있사옵고 나는 아버지께로 가옵나니 거룩하신 아버지여 내게 주신 아버지의 이름으로 그들을 보전하사 우리와 같이 그들도 하나가 되게 하옵소서"(11절).

성도가 진리 안에서 하나 되는 일이 왜 그처럼 귀중한지 아십니까? 이는 우리가 그리스도 예수 안에서 한 지체이기 때문입니다. 인종이 다르고 언어와 혈색이 다르다 할지라도 그리스도 안에 있는 자들은 하나입니다. 물론 구분은 있을지라도 차별은 없습니다. 그러므로 세계 교회는 진리 안에서 하나입니다. 분쟁을 일삼던 고린도 교회를 향해 바울이 무엇이라 하였습니까?

"그리스도께서 어찌 나뉘었느냐"(고전1:13).

"아볼로는 무엇이며 바울은 무엇이냐 그들은 주께서 각각 주신 대로 너희로 하여금 믿게 한 사역자들이니라 나는 심었고 아볼로는 물을 주었으되 오직 하나님께서 자라나게 하셨나니 그런즉 심는 이나 물주는 이는 아무 것도 아니로되 오직 자라게 하시는 이는 하나님뿐이니라"(고전3:5-7).

우리는 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나 됨을 힘써 지켜야 합니다.

2) 악에 빠지지 않도록 올린 기도입니다.

이것은 무엇보다 중요합니다. 인류 역사를 보면, 어느 때든지 하나님의 심판은 인간의 부패와 타락으로 인해서였음을 알 수 있습니다. 발람이 발락에게서 뇌물을 받고 제공해준 것이 무엇이었습니까? 창칼을 휘두르는 용병술이 아니라 미인계 작전이었습니다. 그로 인해 싯딤에서 모압 여인들과 음행하자 하나님께서는 자기 백성을 염병으로 이만 사천 명을 죽였습니다(민25:1,9).

마귀의 올무를 주의하십시오. 주님께서는 악에 빠지지 않기 위해 기도하셨습니다.

"내가 비옵는 것은 그들을 세상에서 데려가시기를 위함이 아니요 다만 악에 빠지지 않게 보전하시기를 위함이니이다"(15절).

우리는 세속화를 방지하고 맡은 본분을 다하는 그 날까지 세상의 빛이요, 소금으로서 자신을 지켜야 할 것입니다. 우리의 대제사장 되신 예수 그리스도의 기도는 영원히 효험이 있어 오늘도 나를 악에 물들지 않도록 지켜주심을 믿습니다. 우리 모두 승리자로 영광을 주님께 돌리는 성도들이 되시기를 기원합니다. -아멘-

 

 

Intercessory prayer

John 17:1-12

 

This chapter is the intercession offered by the Lord, the High Priest. Commentators have many different things to say about this prayer.

"Never have there been a sound higher, clearer and more beautiful than this prayer, which the Son of God himself offered, neither in heaven nor on earth." (Melanchthon)

“This prayer is the seal of authority in the preaching of Jesus.” (Calvin)

"The sound of its ringing is simple, but the riches of its depth and breadth are unsearchable" (Luter)

“This is one of the easiest and most meaningful chapters of the Bible” (Bengel).

This prayer that the Lord has uttered is a prayer that he loves his people in the world and loves them to the end (John 13:1) so that none of them will stumble. If we find a characteristic in the prayer of the Lord, who is the eternal High Priest, in its efficacy, it is a prayer for the elect and not for all people, but also for becoming one.

 

1. The importance of prayer

Since God's providence of salvation has already been predetermined, it is an exercise of God's sovereignty that cannot be erroneous. But we need to know why we need prayer. The Lord is the One who created all things in the universe through His Word, and if He wants to do it, there is nothing impossible.

"Lord, if you will, you can make him clean... I will, be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed" (Matthew 8:2-3).

You are the Almighty Lord, and if you look at the public life of the Lord, what started with prayer and ended with prayer is a reminder of the necessity and importance of prayer. How do you see the lesson that the Lord washed the disciples' feet? If you think of it as ordinary, it is only ordinary, but when you realize the truthful meaning, it becomes a life lesson in practicing the love of Christ. Therefore, we should imitate the Lord and pray.

1) You will receive spiritual power through prayer.

“If you can do anything, have mercy on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can, what do you mean? Nothing is impossible for him who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father cried out, saying, “I believe. “Help me, you deaf and speechless demon, I command you, come out of the child and do not enter again.” Then the demon cried out and made the child violently convulsed and went out” (Mark 9:22-26).

Even these deaf and deaf demons responded to the Lord's words and were expelled.

"The disciples asked in silence, "Why were we not able to cast out the demon?" He said, "This kind cannot go out by anything but prayer" (Mark 9:28-29).

Evil spirits cannot be ruled by power or money. You can rule only through prayer. Are there any tests that are difficult to bear? Pray. Prayer can even move the heart of a king. I hope that you will become victorious saints armed with prayer like Esther.

2) Prayer makes us realize the mystery of God.

All of God's people were people of prayer. Daniel prayed and interpreted Nebuchadnezzar's dream, and he prayed while holding onto Jeremiah's prophecy, "I will return when the seventy years are complete" (Jeremiah 29:10). What we need to remember here is that even if we do not pray, the sun rises in the morning and night comes in the evening. In this way, human life and death are also moved according to God's predestination and providence, but unless we pray, we cannot understand God's providence. This is important because the issue of salvation depends on it. Do you know what happens if we do not understand the providence of God? You will lose gratitude and praise.

A place without gratitude and praise is hell. You become an atheist who turns everything by chance. We must pray like Daniel and become believers who understand God's providence and glorify Him.

 

2. Glory of the Father and Glory of the Son

“Father, glorify me now with you, as I had with you before the foundation of the world” (verse 5).

Here we can see that the origin of Jesus and His glory are equal to God.

1) The root of Jesus is the same as God.

“He is in the original form of God” (Philippians 2:6).

Not only did the Lord exist before Abraham, but He existed even before the foundation of the world. The Jews, unaware of this, tried to stone Jesus.

“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day, and when he saw it, he was glad.” The Jews said, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am” (John 8:56). -58).

2) The glory of Jesus is equal to God.

“Father, in the glory that I had with you before the foundation of the world” (v. 5).

The glory of the Father is equal to the glory of the Son. In particular, God's will by taking on the flesh and obedient to death is the grace of atonement for the salvation of sinners.

“For he, being in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as robbery, but emptied himself, taking brothers and sisters of servants, and being made in human form, humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. .” (Philippians 2:6-11).

 

3. Knowledge of Eternal Life

“Eternal life is to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (verse 3).

This is the truth that teaches the only God compared to the polytheistic theologians of the Gentiles. Not only Jews, but also Muslims and Socinians confess that God is one. But he must realize that he cannot know God except through Christ.

The word 'know' here does not mean rational understanding, but personal understanding and union, which refers to union with the essence of God, not the understanding of the head or heart.

everyone! How do you know God and Jesus? I hope to become a person of grace who becomes one with God by knowing the truth.

 

4. Prayer for the elect

This chapter is the intercession offered by the eternal High Priest. The Lord is still praying for us. The Lord's prayer is not for sinners who will perish, but for those who believe and obey and are saved. Note that the Lord did not pray for Judah.

“I pray for them; I do not pray for the world, but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours” (verse 9).

As a high priest, please believe that this prayer is eternal and efficacious.

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. After you are converted, strengthen your brothers” (Luke 22:31-32).

The Lord's prayer not only did not cause Peter to stumble, but also made him a disciple, but the Lord did not pray for Judas Iscariot. Because Judas Iscariot had fallen into a devil and belonged to the devil. The purpose of the Lord's coming into the world is not to save the devil, but to save fallen human beings.

“Did I not choose you twelve? But one of you is a devil” (John 6:70).

Do not think that destruction is God's predestination. God wants no one to perish but to reach eternal life. But even though God's power is infinite, there is no other way for him to bring himself down the road of destruction. What are the serious problems that are making our society sick now? Drugs. There are even antipsychotic medicines among the cold medicines that are easily available at drugstores, and it is said that there are people who take large amounts of them and fall into hallucinations. Who makes you do that? It's about finding yourself. I know that there is no other country in the world that welcomes and welcomes such people.

“When I was with them, I preserved them and kept them in your name, which you gave me. None of them perish, but only children of perdition, so that the scriptures are fulfilled” (verse 12).

Two important facts can be found in prayer for the elect.

1) It is a prayer for becoming one.

“I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to the Father. Holy Father, preserve them in your name, which you have given me, so that they may be one as we are” (verse 11).

Do you know why it is so valuable for the saints to become one in the truth? Because we are one member in Christ Jesus. Even though we are of different races and different languages ​​and colors, those who are in Christ are one. Of course, there is a distinction, but there is no discrimination. Therefore, the world church is one in truth. What did Paul say to the church in Corinth, which had been involved in disputes?

“How was Christ divided?” (1 Corinthians 1:13).

“What is Apollos and what is Paul? These are the ministers who made you believe, as the Lord gave each one of them. I planted and Apollos watered, but God made it grow; therefore neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything. It is only God who makes it grow” (1 Corinthians 3:5-7).

We must strive to keep our unity in Christ Jesus.

2) This is a prayer that is raised so that we do not fall into evil.

This is of utmost importance. If we look at the history of mankind, we can see that at any time God's judgments were due to human corruption and depravity. What did Balaam offer in exchange for a bribe from Balak? It was not a mercenary technique wielding a spear, but a beauty operation. As a result, when he committed fornication with Moabite women in Shittim, God killed twenty-four thousand of his people with a plague (Numbers 25:1, 9).

Beware of the devil's snare. The Lord prayed not to fall into evil.

"It's them that I'm raining on

Not to take you out of the world, but to keep you from falling into evil” (verse 15).

We must prevent secularization and protect ourselves as the light and salt of the world until the day we fulfill our duties. I believe that the prayer of Jesus Christ, our High Priest, is eternally efficacious and keeps me from being stained with evil even today. We pray that we all become saints who glorify the Lord as victors. -Amen-
