요6:22-30

 

우리는 본문에서 억지로 임금 삼으려는 무리를 외면하고 산으로 올라가신 주님을 통해 하나님의 나라와 세속의 나라를 구분할 줄 알고, 진정한 복이 무엇이며 또 성공의 척도가 무엇인지 깨달아야 하겠습니다.

 

1. 갈릴리 바다에서 일어난 기적

"저물매 제자들이 바다에 내려가서 배를 타고 바다를 건너 가버나움으로 가는데 이미 어두웠고 예수는 아직 그들에게 오시지 아니하셨더니 큰 바람이 불어 파도가 일어나더라"(16-18).

"예수께서 즉시 제자들을 재촉하사 자기가 무리를 보내는 동안에 배를 타고 앞서 건너편으로 가게 하시고"(마14:22).

이렇게 제자들만 건너편으로 가게 하시고 주님께서는 혼자 기도하러 산으로 올라가셨습니다. 만일 그날 밤에 갈릴리 바다에 풍랑이 일지 않았다면 주님께서는 어떤 방법으로 그 호수를 건넜을까하는 생각이 듭니다.

분명한 것은 어느 때, 어느 곳이든지 선한 목자 주님께서 양들의 사정을 다 아시고 우리를 홀로 두지 않으신다는 것입니다.

1) 풍랑 일어난 갈릴리 바다

갈릴리 바다는 해저 200m가 되는 낮은 호수이지만 사방이 산으로 둘려 있기 때문에 밤이 되면 갑자기 기온이 떨어져서 큰 바람이 불어 파도가 일어난다고 합니다. 제자들이 탓던 배는 노를 저어 십 여리쯤 가다가 풍랑을 만났는데 그때 주님께서 바다 위로 걸어서 배에 가까이 오심을 보고 제자들이 놀라서 "유령이라"(마14:26) 하며 소리를 질렀습니다. 갈릴리 바다의 이 풍랑은 오늘 우리가 살아가는 인생 여정에서 겪는 거친 세파의 시련으로 생각할 수 있습니다. 그러므로 시련과 역경이 있을 때에 낙심하지 말 것은 주님께서 알고 계시기 때문입니다.

2) 주님의 음성

주님께서 바다 위로 걸어오신 이 사건에 대해 자유주의 신학자는 물 위로 걸으신 것이 아니라 언덕 위로 걸어 오셨는데 달빛에 그림자가 비쳤다고 합니다. 그렇다면 제자들이 십여리 쯤 갔다고 했는데 예수님의 그림자가 어떻게 비쳐질 수 있으며, 베드로가 주님의 음성을 듣고 물 위로 뛰어내린 것과 파도를 보고 두려워 물에 빠졌던 일과 주님의 손길에 의해 건짐을 받은 것은 어떻게 설명해야 할까요? 은혜를 힘입은 성도라면 하나님의 전능성을 불신할 수 없을 것입니다. 우리는 성경을 대할 때 이성의 눈이 아닌 믿음의 안목을 가져야 합니다.

"나니 두려워하지 말라"(마14:27).

주님께서 배에 오르시자 배는 곳 그들이 가려던 땅에 이르게 되었습니다. 어떤 일이 있을지라도 주님과 함께 하면 가는 길이 형통할 줄 믿습니다.

여러 해 전의 일입니다. 젊은 여인이 임신 중에 병이 들어 청량리에 있는 성 바오로 병원에 입원을 했는데, 허파에 물이 고여 삼 일을 넘길 수가 없다는 진단이 내려 급히 심방을 갔던 일이 있었습니다. 의식을 잃은 산모가 산소 호흡기로 연명하고 있었습니다. 거기서 마지막으로 그 영혼을 긍휼히 여겨달라고 기도 했는데, 놀라운 일은 그 순간에 "딸아! 안심하라"는 주님의 음성을 들었다는 것입니다. 예배가 끝나고 나온 후에 그 환자는 즉시 깨어나서 산소 호흡기를 떼고 밤이 새도록 울었다고 합니다. 의사들은 죽을 때가 되어서 그렇게 하는 것이라 했으나 삼 일 후에 건강을 회복하여 자기 발로 퇴원하게 되었습니다. 여러분! 감당하기 어려운 시험이 있습니까? 이 시간에도 나를 구원하신 주님의 음성을 들으십시오. "안심하라 나니 두려워 말라"(마14:27).

3) 물에 빠진 베드로

"베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주여 만일 주님이시거든 나를 명하사 물 위로 오라 하소서"(마14:28).

이 시간 우리는 이천 년 전에 갈릴리 바다에서 일어난 사건을 접하고 있습니다. 주님께서 바다 위로 걸어오심을 보고 베드로가 "만일 주님이시거든 나를 명하사 물 위로 오라 하소서" 하고 소리를 쳤습니다.

여기에 '만일'이라는 말은 마귀가 시험할 때 쓰는 용어입니다. 메시아를 메시아로 믿지 못하고 의심하는 것은 문제입니다. 주님께서 "오라" 하시자 베드로는 배에서 내려 물 위를 걸어 주님께로 갔습니다. 그러다가 바람을 보고 무서워하자 즉시 물에 빠지고 말았습니다. 이것은 꿈속에서 일어난 것이 아닌 실제적 사건입니다.

"믿음이 작은 자여 왜 의심하였느냐?"(마14:31).

그때 베드로가 책망을 들은 것은 물 위로 뛰어내린 일로 인해서가 아니라 의심을 하였기 때문입니다. 주님께서 말씀하심으로 뛰어내렸다면 주님만을 바라보아야 하지요.

성도 중에 마음이 우울하여 항상 걱정하는 분과 주고받은 이야기입니다.

"목사님! 옛날 병이 다시 재발하는데 어떻게 하면 좋아요. 마음이 우울하고 불안해서 밤잠을 이룰 수가 없어요."

"기도하십시오."

"목사님! 처음에는 기도하라는 말씀이 그렇게 듣기가 싫었는데, 이제는 그 말씀이 싫지 않네요."

"싫게 들리지 않는 것이 하나님의 은혜이니 열심히 기도하십시오."

믿음이 작은 자는 성난 풍랑을 보지만 믿음이 큰 사람은 풍랑 속에 걸어오시는 주님을 보게 됩니다. 그러므로 환란 풍파가 일어날 때 "이 풍랑 인연하여 더 빨리 갑니다" 찬송하며 주님께 나아갈 수가 있는 것입니다.

우리는 베드로같이 풍파를 보고 의심하는 사람이 아니라 주님을 보고 풍랑을 극복하는 성도들이 되어야 하겠습니다.

4) 주님과 함께하는 길

우리가 주님과 함께 하면 어디를 가고 무엇을 할지라도 형통하게 될 줄 믿습니다.

"이에 기뻐서 배로 영접하니 배는 곧 그들이 가려던 땅에 이르렀더라"(21절).

이 말씀을 기적으로 순식간에 목적지에 도달할 수 있었다고 해석하는 사람도 있습니다. 그러나 이것은 "빨리" 즉 "오래지 않아서"라는 의미입니다. 순식간이라는 말이 아니라, 순탄하게 갈 수 있었다는 말씀입니다. 씨 뿌리는 자의 비유에서 "곧 싹이 나오나"(마13:5)라는 말씀도 마찬가지입니다(막4:17).

중요한 사실은 주님께서 함께 하시면 소원하는 모든 일이 형통하게 이루어질 수 있다는 말씀입니다.

"주와 같이 길 가는것 즐거운 일 아닌가

우리 주님 걸어가신 발자취를 밟겠네

한걸음 한걸음 주 예수와 함께

날마다 날마다 우리 걸어가리"(찬430)

 

2. 가버나움으로 찾아온 무리들

"무리가 거기에 예수도 안 계시고 제자들도 없음을 보고 곧 배들을 타고 예수를 찾으러 가버나움으로 가서 바다 건너편에서 만나 랍비여 언제 여기 오셨나이까 하니"(24-25).

어찌 보면 그들은 대단한 열성분자라고 할 수도 있을 것입니다. 그러나 주님은 달리 보셨습니다. 잘못된 생각이 있어서였을까요? 그렇지 않습니다. 문제가 있었다면 주님을 찾아온 그 무리에게 있었습니다. 우리는 어떻게 하는 것이 주님을 바로 따르는 길인가를 깨달아야 합니다. 그들은 오병이어의 표적을 눈으로 보았을 뿐 아니라 배불리 먹었던 자들이요, 또 그로 인해 주님을 찾아온 무리들이었습니다. 주님께서 그 무리를 보고 하신 말씀입니다.

"내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 나를 찾는 것은 표적을 본 까닭이 아니요 떡을 먹고 배부른 까닭이로다"(26절).

그들은 오병이어의 표적을 보았고, 그 떡을 배불리 먹었으나 영생의 양식은 깨닫지 못했습니다.

"그들이 묻되 그러면 우리가 보고 당신을 믿도록 행하시는 표적이 무엇이니이까, 하시는 일이 무엇이니이까 기록된바 하늘에서 그들에게 떡을 주어 먹게 하였다 함과 같이 우리 조상들은 광야에서 만나를 먹었나이다"(30-31).

이 말은 '당신이 메시아라면 우리가 믿을 수 있도록 해 달라'는 요구입니다. 어떻게 생각하면 당연한 것 같지만 주님이 보시기에는 합당하지 못했습니다. 다시 말씀드리면 이 무리들은 오병이어의 기적이 일시적인 현상으로 그치지 아니하고 시내 광야에서 내렸던 만나와 같이 오늘도 그렇게 해 달라는 요구입니다. 그들이 진리를 바로 알고 영생의 양식을 찾았다면 거절할 이유가 없지요. 주님은 크게 기뻐하셨을 것입니다. 우리는 육신의 일과 영의 일, 썩어질 일과 영생의 일을 구분할 줄 알아야 합니다.

“육신을 따르는 자는 육신의 일을, 영을 따르는 자는 영의 일을 생각하나니 육신의 생각은 사망이요 영의 생각은 생명과 평안이니라”(롬8:5-6).

주님은 수많은 병자를 고치셨습니다. 그러나 그 일은 영생이 아니므로 돌아온 사마리아 문둥이에게 "그 아홉은 어디 있느냐?"(눅17:17) 하셨습니다.

썩을 양식을 위해 주님을 찾는 발길이 아니라 영생의 양식을 찾는 발길이 되시기 소원합니다.

 

3. 두 가지 일

"썩을 양식을 위하여 일하지 말고 영생하도록 있는 양식을 위하여 하라 이 양식은 인자가 너희에게 주리니 인자는 아버지 하나님께서 인 치신 자니라"(27절).

'두 가지 일' 즉 하나는 썩을 양식을 위하는 일이요, 다른 하나는 영생의 양식을 위하는 일이므로 영생의 양식 얻기를 원한다면 선택이 중요합니다.

그때 무리는 "우리가 어떻게 하여야 하나님의 일을 하오리이까"(28절).

그들은 주님과 대화를 하면서도 진리를 깨닫지 못하고 있었습니다.

"예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 하나님께서 보내신 이를 믿는 것이 하나님의 일이니라"(29절).

여기서 말씀하고 있는 이 '일'은 원어에 단수로 되어있으나 무리가 말한 것은 복수입니다. 그들은 율법적인 의식에서 생각하였으나 주님은 한 가지 곧 예수 그리스도를 믿는 것이 영생에 이르는 일임을 말씀하신 것입니다.

두 가지 일이 무엇입니까? 하나는 육신의 일이요 하나는 영의 일이며, 하나는 썩어질 일이요 하나는 영생의 일입니다. 육신의 일은 이것저것 종류도 많을 뿐 아니라 또 끝이 없으나 영의 일은 단순합니다. 예수님은 이 한 가지 일로 세상에 오셨고 생을 마쳤습니다.

“내가 한 가지 일을 행하매 너희가 다 이로 말미암아 이상히 여기는 도다”(요7:21).

기억하십시오. 어릴 때부터 율법을 다 지켰다고 자랑하던 부자 청년은 한 가지 부족하여 영생을 잃었다는 사실입니다(막10:21).

전도를 하다 보면 "나는 바빠서 예수를 못 믿겠다"고 거절하는 사람들을 만나게 됩니다. 예수를 못 믿을 정도로 바쁘다면 그 일이 어떤 일이며, 거기서 얻는 소득은 또 무엇일까요? 결국은 썩어지고 없어질 육신의 일일 뿐입니다.

이렇게 헛된 삶을 위해서 영광된 삶을 외면한다면 그 얼마나 어리석은 일입니까?

"No time for GOD" 하나님을 위한 시간이 없다.

몇 해 전 미국의 한 시사 주간지에 실린 표지 기사입니다. 이를 요약하면, ① 물질적 풍요 속에 하나님을 찾을 필요성이 상실되었다는 것이요, ② 문명의 발달로 인해 종교적 신비에 대한 흥미가 상실되었다는 것이며 ③ 교회에 나가 예배드릴 시간적인 여유가 상실되었다는 것입니다.

"그러므로 땅에 있는 지체를 죽이라 곧 음란과 부정과 사욕과 악한 정욕과 탐심이니 탐심은 우상숭배니라"(골3:5).

주님을 찾아온 무리들을 보십시오. 그들에게 과연 믿음이 있었습니까? 없었습니다.

"그러나 내가 너희에게 이르기를 너희는 나를 보고도 믿지 아니하는도다"(36절).

영생의 참된 양식과 음료가 되신 예수 그리스도를 그들은 여전히 모르고 있었습니다. 영생의 양식과 참된 음료가 무엇입니까? 예수 그리스도입니다.

"나는 생명의 떡이니 내게 오는 자는 결코 주리지 아니할 터이요 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리라"(35절).

“Jesus immediately urged his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead to the other side while he sent the crowd away” (Matthew 14:22).

In this way, only the disciples went to the other side, and the Lord went up the mountain to pray alone. I wonder how the Lord would have crossed the lake if there had not been a storm on the Sea of ​​Galilee that night.

What is clear is that the Lord the Good Shepherd knows all the circumstances of the sheep at any time, any place, and does not leave us alone.

1) The Sea of ​​Galilee, where the storm arose

Although the Sea of ​​Galilee is a low lake with a sea level of 200 m, it is said that because it is surrounded by mountains on all sides, the temperature suddenly drops at night, and a great wind blows, causing waves. The boat the disciples were riding on was rowing about ten li, and when they met a storm, they saw the Lord walking on the sea and approaching the boat. This storm on the Sea of ​​Galilee can be thought of as the ordeal of the harsh sepas we face in our life's journey today. Therefore, do not become discouraged when there are trials and tribulations, because the Lord knows.

2) The voice of the Lord

Regarding this incident where the Lord walked on the sea, the liberal theologian said that he did not walk on the water, but on the hill, and the moonlight cast a shadow. Then, the disciples said they had gone about a dozen li, how can the shadow of Jesus be reflected, how do we explain how Peter jumped out of the water when he heard the voice of the Lord, fell into the water because he was afraid of the waves, and was rescued by the hand of the Lord? ? If you are a believer with grace, you will not be able to discredit the omnipotence of God. When dealing with the Bible, we must have the eye of faith, not the eye of reason.

“I am not afraid” (Matthew 14:27).

When the Lord got into the boat, the boat came to the land they were going to. I believe that no matter what happens, if you are with the Lord, your path will prosper.

That was many years ago. A young woman fell ill during her pregnancy and was admitted to St. Paul's Hospital in Cheongnyangni, where she was diagnosed with water in her lungs and could not last more than three days. . Her mother, who lost her consciousness, was living on her ventilator. She there she prayed for the last time she had mercy on the soul, and her astonishment was that at that moment she heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Daughter, take it easy." After the service was over, the patient immediately woke up, took off her ventilator, and cried all night long. Her doctors said she would do so when it was time for her to die, but she regained her health three days later and she was discharged on her own feet. everyone! Are there any tests that are difficult to bear? Listen to the voice of the Lord who saved me even at this time. “Take heart, I am not afraid” (Matthew 14:27).

3) Peter fell into the water

“Peter answered and said, Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water” (Matthew 14:28).

At this time we are confronted with an event that occurred on the Sea of ​​Galilee two thousand years ago. Seeing the Lord walking on the sea, Peter exclaimed, "If it is the Lord, command me to come on the water."

Here, the word 'if' is a term used by the devil during temptation. It is a problem to believe and doubt the Messiah as the Messiah. When the Lord said, “Come,” Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to the Lord. Then, when he saw the wind and was afraid, he immediately fell into the water. This is a real event, not a dream.

“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14:31).

Peter was then rebuked, not because he had jumped out of the water, but because he had doubts. If he jumped because the Lord spoke, he should only look to the Lord.

This is a story I exchanged with someone who is always worried because of a depressed heart among the saints.

"Pastor! What should I do if the old disease recurs? I can't sleep at night because I'm depressed and anxious."

"Pray."

"Pastor! At first, I didn't like hearing the word to pray that much, but now I don't hate it."

“It is God’s grace that you do not hear anything unpleasant, so please pray earnestly.”

Those with little faith will see the raging storm, but those with great faith will see the Lord walking in the storm. Therefore, when tribulation and winds and waves occur, we can approach the Lord by praising “I will go faster because of this storm.”

We need to become believers who see the Lord and overcome the storm, not as Peter did when they see the storm and doubt it.

4) The road with the Lord

We believe that if we are with the Lord, wherever we go and whatever we do, we will prosper.

“Then they were gladly welcomed into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the land they were going to” (verse 21).

Some people interpret these words as miraculously able to reach their destination in an instant. But this means "quickly" or "not long." This is not to say that it was an instant, but that it was able to go smoothly. The same is true of the parable of the sower, which says, “Suddenly it will sprout” (Matthew 13:5) (Mark 4:17).

The important thing is that if the Lord is with us, all our wishes can come true.

2. Crowds to Capernaum

“When the crowds saw that Jesus was not there and there were no disciples there, they immediately got into boats and went to Capernaum to find Jesus, and met him from the other side of the sea, Rabbi, and asked, “When did you come here?” (24-25).

In a way, they could be said to be great zealots. But the Lord saw otherwise. Was it because I had the wrong idea? It's not like that. If there was a problem, it was the crowd who came to the Lord. We must realize how to follow the Lord rightly. They were those who not only saw the signs of the five fish, but also ate to their fullest, and the crowds who came to the Lord because of it. This is what the Lord said when he saw the crowd.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were satisfied” (verse 26).

They saw the sign of the five fish, and ate the bread to their fullness, but they did not realize the bread of eternal life.

“Then they asked, “What are the signs that you do so that we may see you and believe you?” Our ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, as it is written, “Bread was given to them from heaven to eat.” (30-31).

This is a request: 'If you are the Messiah, let us believe'. In some ways, it seems reasonable, but in the eyes of the Lord, it was not worthy. In other words, these groups are demanding that the miracle of the five fish fish not only be a temporary phenomenon, but do the same today, just like the manna that fell in the Sinai wilderness. If they know the truth and find the bread of eternal life, there is no reason to refuse. The Lord must have been very pleased. We must learn to distinguish between the things of the flesh and the things of the spirit, the things that perish and the things of eternal life.

“Whoever is after the flesh thinks about the things of the flesh, and he who follows the Spirit thinks about the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace” (Romans 8:5-6).

The Lord healed many sick people. However, since this is not eternal life, he asked the Samaritan leper who returned, “Where are the nine?” (Luke 17:17).

We hope that you will be on the road to finding the food of eternal life, not the road to seeking the Lord for the food that perishes.

 

3. Two things

“Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, whom God the Father has sealed” (verse 27).

Since 'two things', one is for the food that perishes, and the other is for the food of eternal life, if you want to obtain the food for eternal life, your choice is important.

Then the crowd said, “What must we do to do the works of God?” (verse 28).

They were talking with the Lord, but they did not realize the truth.

"Jesus answered and said to them, "It is the work of God that you believe in him whom he has sent" (verse 29).

This 'work' mentioned here is in the singular in the original language, but what the group is talking about is plural. They thought in a legal rite, but the Lord was saying one thing: that believing in Jesus Christ would lead to eternal life.

What are the two things? One is the work of the flesh, the other is the work of the spirit, one is the work of corruption, and the other is the work of eternal life. There are many kinds of things in the flesh, and there is no end to things in the body, but things in the spirit are simple. Jesus came into the world for this one thing and ended his life.

“I have done one thing, and you all marvel because of it” (John 7:21).

Remember. It is the fact that the rich young man who boasted that he had kept all the laws from a young age lost eternal life because he lacked one thing (Mark 10:21).

When you do evangelism, you will meet people who refuse, saying, “I am busy and cannot believe in Jesus.” If you're too busy to believe in Jesus, what's the job, and what kind of income do you get from it? In the end, it is only a matter of the body that will decay and disappear.

How foolish would it be to turn away from the glorious life for such a vain life?

"No time for GOD" There is no time for God.

Look at the crowds who came to the Lord. Did they really have faith? There wasn't.

“But I say to you, ye have seen me, and yet do not believe” (verse 36).

They still did not know of Jesus Christ, who became the true food and drink of eternal life. What is the food of eternal life and the true drink? Jesus Christ.

“I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will never hunger, and he who believes in me will never thirst” (verse 35).

I pray that this food of eternal life, the true drink, will come to all of us who yearn for it in full. - Amen -
