성경을 상고하는 목적

요5:39-47

 

현대는 PR 시대입니다. 사업에 성공하려면 새로운 기술을 개발하여 신상품을 생산하는 것이 중요합니다. 또 소비자들에게 잘 알려야 하므로, 엄청난 광고비를 투자하여 PR을 합니다. 특히 연예계에 몸을 담고 있는 사람들은 그런 면에 더 예민한 것 같습니다. 이는 인기도에 따라서 대우가 달라지기 때문일 것입니다.

그러나 사람은 누구에게 또 어떻게 알려지고, 어떤 평가를 받느냐가 중요합니다. 유대인들이 주님을 배척한 이유를 보면, 그들은 예수가 성경대로 오신 메시아임을 인정할 수 없다는 데 있었습니다. 아이러니컬한 것은 동방의 박사들이 아기 예수 탄생을 경배하기 위해 왔을 때, 대제사장과 서기관들이 유대 베들레헴에서 탄생하리라는 선지자의 예언을 헤롯에게 알려주었다는 것입니다. 그러면서도 그들은 경배하지 않았습니다. 대제사장 가야바도 마찬가지입니다.

“그중에 한 사람 그 해의 대제사장인 가야바가 그들에게 말하되 너희가 아무것도 알지 못하는도다 한 사람이 백성을 위하여 죽어서 온 민족이 망하지 않게 되는 것이 너희에게 유익한 줄을 생각하지 아니하는도다 하였으니 이 말은 스스로 함이 아니요 그해의 대제사장이므로 예수께서 그 민족을 위하시고 또 그 민족만 위할 뿐 아니라 흩어진 하나님의 자녀를 모아 하나가 되게 하기 위하여 죽으실 것을 미리 말함이러라”(요1149-52).

이렇게 유대인들은 성경대로 오신 메시아를 영접하지 않았습니다.

"요한은 켜서 비추이는 등불이라 너희가 한때 그 빛에 즐거이 있기를 원하였거니와 내게는 요한의 증거보다 더 큰 증거가 있으니 아버지께서 내게 주사 이루게 하시는 역사 곧 내가 하는 그 역사가 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것을 나를 위하여 증언하는 것이요"(35-36).

"너희는 아무 때에도 그 음성을 듣지 못하였고 그 형상을 보지 못하였으며 그 말씀이 너희 속에 거하지 아니하니 이는 그가 보내신 이를 믿지 아니함이라"(37-38).

이렇게 주님께서 메시아임을 증언하셨는데 유대인들이 믿지 못했다면 그보다 더 큰 불행은 없을 것입니다. 더 큰 불행은 모세의 율법에 따라 하나님을 섬긴다는 유대인들이 진리의 원수로 전락되었다는 것입니다.

 

1. 영생의 진리

"너희가 성경에서 영생을 얻는 줄 생각하고 성경을 연구하거니와 이 성경이 곧 내게 대하여 증언하는 것이니라"(39절).

여기서 말씀하시는 성경은 구약을 의미합니다. 유대인들은 영생을 얻기 위해 성경을 연구하였습니다. 성경은 영생의 진리입니다. 세상에는 많은 책들이 있습니다. 고전이 있고, 철학, 과학, 역사, 문학, 교양서적들을 비롯하여 각기 전문분야를 다루는 서적들이 많이 있습니다. 하루에 출간하는 책만 읽는데도 백칠 년이 걸린다고 하니 엄청난 불량이지요. 사람은 교육을 통해 새로운 지식을 얻게 됩니다.

"사람이 삼일만 독서를 하지 않으면 입에서 가시가 난다"(안창호)고 했습니다. 그처럼 교육이 중요합니다. 그러나 아무리 교육이 중요하다 할지라도 세상의 지식을 통해서는 영생을 얻을 수가 없습니다. 과학도들이 외치는 진리나 철학도가 외치는 진리가 성경의 진리와 일치할 수 없는 것은 그 속에 생명이 없기 때문입니다.

성경이 어떤 책입니까? 성경은 영생의 진리입니다. 성경에는 구원에 이르는 역사와 철학이 있습니다. 또 아가서는 노래 중의 노래요, 욥기, 시편, 잠언, 전도서는 지혜의 보고입니다. 우리는 선지, 예언서를 통해서 깊은 영감을 발견하게 됩니다.

"또 어려서부터 성경을 알았나니 성경은 능히 너로 하여금 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 믿음으로 말미암아 구원에 이르는 지혜가 있게 하느니라"(딤후3:15).

지상에서 성경만큼 많이 출간되고 보급되는 책은 없습니다. 그런데 아직까지도 세계 언어 1/3정도는 번역에 손이 미치지 못하고 있다고 합니다. 무엇을 뜻합니까? 이는 아직도 복음을 접하지 못한 자들이 많다는 것입니다. 오늘 우리들은 어떻습니까? 복음의 풍년이 들어 권태증에 빠진 것이 아닌지 모르겠습니다.

성도 중에는 보리 비빔밥을 잘하는 분이 있어서 제가 한 번씩 먹습니다. 사오십 년 전에는 쌀밥 구경하기가 얼마나 어려웠습니까? 보리밥만 먹던 때에는 쌀밥 먹기를 그렇게 소원했기에 일 년에 한 번씩 돌아오는 생일이 되면 쌀밥을 먹을 수 있어서 매일 생일이면 좋겠다는 생각이 들기도 했습니다. 그런데 지금은 보리밥 구경하기가 옛날에 쌀밥 구경하는 것같이 되고 보니, 이제는 보리밥이 도리어 건강식으로 찾는 별미가 되었습니다.

진리의 권태증을 주의해야 합니다. 은혜를 사모하십시오. 항상 풍족할 줄 생각하고 안일하게 생각하면 안 될 것입니다. 우리는 요셉같이 내일을 준비할 줄 알아야 합니다. 영감의 말씀이 숨겨지지 않도록 기도하십시오. 사무엘이 어릴 때 엘리 제사장의 아들들의 범죄한 일로 어떤 일이 있었는지 보십시오.

“아이 사무엘이 엘리 앞에서 여호와를 섬길 때에는 여호와의 말씀이 희귀하여 이상이 흔히 보이지 않았더라”(삼상3:1) 하였습니다. 우리는 성경을 보는 눈이 밝아져서 은혜와 진리 충만하시기 소원합니다.

 

2. 성경과 메시아

‘성경을 연구한다’는 의미는 보석을 찾는 광부들에게 적용되는 말이기도 하고, 새끼 잃은 사자가 사냥꾼을 추적하여 헤매는 뜻으로도 해석하며, 또 냄새를 따라 사냥감을 추적하는 사냥개에 적용되기도 합니다. 우리는 성경을 대할 때 더 깊이 상고하여 영생의 진리를 깨달아야 합니다.

더욱 중요한 것은 "이 성경이 곧 내게 대하여 증언하는 것이니라"(39절)는 말씀입니다.

성경이 진리라면 진리는 곧 그리스도이십니다. 그러므로 성경에서 우리가 그리스도를 만나야 합니다. 성경에서 예수를 찾지 못하면 우리의 믿음도 뿌리를 내리지 못할 것입니다. 부활하신 주님께서 엠마오로 향하는 두 사람에게 접근하였을 때 그들이 그리스도를 알아보았습니까? 몰랐습니다.

"그들의 눈이 가리어져서 그인 줄 알아보지 못하거늘”(눅24:16).

주님을 보는 눈이 가려진 이유는 성경이 담고 있는 진리를 깨닫지 못하였기 때문입니다.

"이르시되 미련하고 선지자들이 말한 모든 것을 마음에 더디 믿는 자들이여 그리스도가 이런 고난을 받고 자기의 영광에 들어가야 할 것이 아니냐 하시고 이에 모세와 모든 선지자의 글로 시작하여 모든 성경에 쓴 바 자기에 관한 것을 자세히 설명하시니라"(눅24:25-27).

이렇게 성경을 일깨워 주실 때에 그들의 마음이 뜨거워지고, 지각이 열려 그리스도가 메시아임을 알아보게 되었던 것입니다. 구약은 오실 메시아를 증언하는 말씀이요, 복음서는 그리스도의 생애요, 사도행전은 그리스도의 복음이 전파된 역사요, 모든 서신은 성령의 감동으로 기록된 그리스도의 편지요, 계시록은 그리스도 재림의 약속입니다. 이와 같이 메시아를 가리키는 말씀이 지금 우리가 가지고 있는 이 성경입니다. 그러므로 우리는 성경에서 예수를 알고, 성경을 통해 믿음의 주요 온전하게 하시는 그리스도를 만나는 은혜를 힘입기 소원합니다.

 

3. 모세율법의 정죄

"나는 사람에게서 영광을 취하지 아니하노라"(41절).

이 말씀은 "나는 사람에게서 증언을 취하지 아니하노라" 하신(34절) 말씀과 의미를 같이 하고 있습니다. 그렇다면 사마리아 여인을 통해서는 그처럼 기뻐하신 주님께서 왜 사람의 증언을 취하지 않으시고 또 사람에게서 영광을 취하지 않으시리라 하셨을까요? 유대인들이 모세의 율법을 바로 알았다면 당연히 주님을 알고 하나님을 사랑하게 되지요.

그런데 "하나님을 사랑하는 것이 너희 속에 없음을 알았노라"(42절). 유대인들은 이렇게 율법을 내세우면서도 비진리로 전락하고 말았습니다.

"나는 내 아버지의 이름으로 왔으매" 이 말씀은 "그리스도는 하나님의 권위를 통하여" 또 "하나님으로부터 보냄을 받았다"는 말씀입니다. 그런데 그들은 영접하지 않았습니다.

"양은 목자의 음성을 안다"(요 10:4)고 하셨는데 유대인들은 주님을 알지 못했습니다. 우리는 그리스도를 바로 알고 그 믿음 위에 굳게 서서 주님을 섬기는 성도들이 되어야 하겠습니다.

"내가 너희를 아버지께 고발할까 생각하지 말라 너희를 고발하는 이가 있으니 곧 너희가 바라는 자 모세니라"(45절).

이는 유대인들에게 너무도 충격적인 말씀이 아닐 수 없습니다. 물론 심판권은 주님께서 행하시는데 공의의 율법으로 심판하신다는 말씀입니다. 주님께서 오신 목적이 사람을 구원하기 위함이나 빛으로 오신 주님을 등지는 일은 심판이 된다는 말씀입니다.

“그 정죄는 이것이니 곧 빛이 세상에 왔으되 사람들이 자기 행위가 악하므로 빛보다 어둠을 더 사랑한 것이니라”(요3:19).

인류에게 가장 큰 피해를 주는 공공의 적이 무엇입니까? 죄와 사망입니다. 이 문제를 해결하는 길은 오직 예수 그리스도의 복음입니다. 그러므로 우리는 이 복음을 위하여 헌신해야 합니다.

"모세를 믿었더라면 또 나를 믿었으리니 이는 그가 내게 대하여 기록하였음이라"(46절).

성경을 진리로 믿으신다면 그리스도를 구주로 영접하십시오. 우리 모두 그리스도를 바로 아는 진리의 지식이 충만하기를 소원합니다. - 아멘 -

 

 

Purpose of Searching the Bible

John 5:39-47

 

The modern age is the era of PR. To be successful in business, it is important to develop new technologies to produce new products. In addition, we need to inform consumers well, so we invest a huge amount of advertising money to do PR. In particular, people who are involved in the entertainment industry seem to be more sensitive to that. This is probably because the treatment differs depending on the popularity.

However, it is important who and how people are known and how they are evaluated. The reason the Jews rejected the Lord was that they could not acknowledge that Jesus was the Messiah who came according to the Bible. The irony is that when the wise men from the East came to worship the baby Jesus, the chief priests and scribes informed Herod of the prophet's prophecy that he would be born in Bethlehem, Judea. Yet they did not worship. The same is true of Caiaphas, the high priest.

"One of them, Caiaphas, the high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing, you do not think that it is good for you that one man should die for the people and that the whole nation should not perish." No, but because he was the high priest that year, he foretold that Jesus would die for the nation and not only for the nation but also to gather the scattered children of God into one” (John 1149-52).

In this way, the Jews did not receive the Messiah who came according to the Bible.

“John is a lamp that lights up and shines, and you once wanted to rejoice in that light, but I have a testimony greater than that of John, the work that the Father gave me to accomplish, the work that the Father sent me to do for me. to testify" (35-36).

“You have not heard his voice at any time, nor have you seen his image, and the word does not dwell in you, because you do not believe in him whom he sent” (37-38).

If the Lord testified that He was the Messiah and the Jews did not believe, there would be no greater misfortune. Even worse, the Jews who believed they served God according to the Mosaic Law were reduced to being enemies of the truth.

 

1. The Truth of Eternal Life

“You study the Scriptures, thinking that you have eternal life in them, but these are the scriptures that testify of me” (verse 39).

The Bible you are talking about here refers to the Old TestAment. The Jews studied the Bible for eternal life. The Bible is the truth of eternal life. There are many books in the world. There are classics, philosophy, science, history, literature, liberal arts, and many other books dealing with their respective specialties. It takes one hundred and seven years to read a book that is published in one day, which is a huge defect. People acquire new knowledge through education.

“If a person does not read for three days, thorns will come out of his mouth” (Ahn Chang-ho). That's why education is so important. However, no matter how important education is, we cannot gain eternal life through worldly knowledge. The truth that scientists cry out or the truth that philosophers cry out cannot match the truth of the Bible because there is no life in it.

What kind of book is the Bible? The Bible is the truth of eternal life. The Bible contains the history and philosophy leading to salvation. The Song of Songs is a song of song, and Job, Psalms, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes are treasures of wisdom. We find deep inspiration through the prophets and prophets.

“And from childhood you have known the Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).

There is no other book on earth that has been published and disseminated as widely as the Bible. However, it is said that about one-third of the world's languages ​​are still not reachable in translation. What do you mean? This means that there are still many people who have not come into contact with the Gospel. How are we today? I don't know if it's because of the bountiful harvest of the gospel and I'm in a state of boredom.

There are people in the church who are good at making barley bibimbap, so I eat them once. How hard was it to see rice forty or fifty years ago? When I used to eat only barley rice, I wished so much to eat rice, so on my birthday that comes once a year, I can eat rice, so I thought it would be good if it was my birthday every day. But now, looking at barley rice has become like looking at rice in the past. Now, barley rice has become a delicacy that people look for as a healthy food.

Beware of the boredom of truth. Pray for grace. You should not always think that you will be rich and that you will not be complacent. Like Joseph, we must learn to prepare for tomorrow. Pray that the words of inspiration will not be hidden. Look at what happened to the sins of the sons of the priest Eli when Samuel was young.

“When the child Samuel served the Lord before Eli, the word of the Lord was rare, and visions were not seen often” (1 Samuel 3:1). We hope that the eyes of the Bible will be opened and that you will be filled with grace and truth.

 

2. The Bible and the Messiah

The meaning of ‘studying the Bible’ is also applied to miners looking for gems, interpreted as a lost lion chasing after a hunter, and also applied to a hound that tracks its prey by smell. When dealing with the Bible, we need to ponder more deeply and realize the truth of eternal life.

More importantly, it says, “These scriptures testify of me” (verse 39).

If the Bible is the truth, then the truth is Christ. Therefore, we must meet Christ in the Bible. If we do not find Jesus in the Bible, our faith will not take root. When the resurrected Lord approached the two men on their way to Emmaus, did they recognize Christ? I didn't know.

“They were blinded, so that they could not recognize him” (Luke 24:16).

The reason the eyes from seeing the Lord were covered is because they did not understand the truth contained in the Bible.

"And he said to them, "You foolish and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken, did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter into his glory?" ” (Luke 24:25-27).

When he was reminded of the Bible in this way, their hearts were warmed and their understanding was opened to recognize Christ as the Messiah. The Old TestAment is the testimony of the coming Messiah; the Gospels are the life of Christ; . The word that refers to the Messiah like this is this Bible we have now. Therefore, we pray that we may have the grace to know Jesus in the Bible and to meet Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith, through the Bible.

 

3. Condemnation of the Mosaic Law

“I take no glory from men” (verse 41).

This verse has the same meaning as “I take no testimony from men” (verse 34). Then, why did the Lord, who was so pleased with the Samaritan woman, say that he would not take the testimony of men or the glory of men? If the Jews knew the Mosaic Law, they would naturally know the Lord and love God.

But “I know that the love of God is not in you” (verse 42). Even though the Jews raised the law like this, they fell into untruth.

"I am come in my Father's name" This means that "Christ was sent by God through the authority of God." But they did not receive it.

“The sheep know the voice of the shepherd” (John 10:4), but the Jews did not know the Lord. We must become believers who know Christ rightly and stand firm on that faith to serve the Lord.

“Do not think that I will accuse you of the Father, for there is one who accuses you, Moses in whom you hope” (verse 45).

This is a very shocking statement for the Jews. Of course, the judgment is the Lord's, and he judges by the law of justice. The purpose of the Lord's coming is to save people, but turning away from the Lord who came as the light is judgment.

“And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19).

What is the most damaging public enemy of mankind? Sin and death. The only way to solve this problem is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we must devote ourselves to this gospel.

“If you had believed Moses, you would have believed me again, for he wrote about me” (verse 46).

If you believe the Bible as the truth, accept Christ as your Savior. May we all be filled with the knowledge of the truth to know Christ rightly. - Amen -
