우리가 메시아를 만났다

요1:35-42

 

주님께서 베드로, 안드레, 야고보와 요한을 부르신 것을 보면 복음서에 따라 기록에 약간의 차이가 있습니다. 마태복음(마4:18-22)과 마가복음(막1:16-20)은 동일하고, 누가복음(눅5:1-11)에는 기적으로 고기를 잡은 사건이 있으나, 요한복음에는 세례 요한의 제자였던 안드레가 주님을 따르다가 그의 형제 시몬을 인도한 것으로 되어있습니다. 누가복음과의 관계에 대해서는 달리 보는 사람도 있고 동일 사건으로 보기도 합니다.

 

1. 세례 요한의 증언

"또 이튿날 요한이 자기 제자 중 두 사람과 함께 섰다가 예수께서 거니심을 보고 말하되 보라 하나님의 어린 양이로다"(35-36).

세례 요한이 메시아에 대해 직접적으로 증언한 것은 요단강에서 세례를 베푸실 때부터였습니다(28절).

어린 양은 하나님께서 예비하신 속죄 제물이라는 뜻입니다. 세례 요한은 청중들 앞에서 메시아를 전하였을 뿐 아니라 자기를 따르는 제자들 앞에서도 예수가 메시아임을 증언했습니다.

"두 제자가 그의 말을 듣고 예수를 따르거늘"(37절).

인간은 누구나 명예심이 있습니다. 또 그것을 반드시 나쁘다고 할 수는 없습니다. '형설의 공'이라는 말은 이미 지나간 옛말이 되었으나 성공을 위해 쏟아붓는 정열은 지금도 다를 바가 없으리라 생각합니다. 부자가 되어야겠다는 꿈을 갖는 것이 남들보다 더 부지런할 수 있는 동기가 된다면 그것을 정죄할 이유가 없지요. 위대한 과학자, 예술인, 정치가의 꿈도 마찬가지입니다.

중요한 것은 선의의 경쟁을 통해서 그 꿈이 이루어져야만 한다는 것입니다. 지금 불교계에서는 권력을 장악하기 위해 폭력배까지 동원한 사실이 밝혀지므로 많은 비난을 받고 있습니다. 아집과 분열에서 깨어날 줄 모르는 기독교도 진심으로 회개하고 시정해야 할 문제라고 생각합니다.

예수님의 부활은 삶과 죽음을 한 연장선에 올려놓은 사건입니다. 죽음은 끝이 아니라 영생의 한 전환점에 불과하다는 것을 부활로 증명한 것입니다. 예수님의 부활로 말미암아 인간들은 영생의 소망을 갖게 되었습니다. 그러므로 기독교는 예수님의 빈 무덤을 자랑합니다. 부활의 진리를 믿기 때문에 죽음은 더 이상 슬픔이 될 수 없습니다. 중요한 것은 부활의 영광에 이르기 위해서는 반드시 회개의 관문을 통과해야 한다는 것입니다. 예수님께서 십자가의 고난을 당하신 것이 과연 누구의 죄 때문입니까? 다른 사람이 아닌 바로 나 자신의 죄 때문입니다.

부활절을 맞아 우리는 하나가 되어야 합니다. 하나님은 한 분이시며, 진리도 하나입니다. 분열은 결코 하나님의 뜻이 아닙니다. 분열은 세상을 변화시킬 수 없고, 그리스도의 사랑을 실천하는 것도 불가능하게 됩니다. 작은 물방울이 모여서 강을 이루고 그 강물은 발전소에서 거대한 터빈을 돌려 전기를 생산합니다. 성도도 사랑으로 뭉칠 때 기적의 역사가 일어날 수 있는 것입니다.

그러므로 우리는 요한과 같이 진리를 사랑하고, 진리를 증언하며, 진리를 위해 자신을 희생하는 믿음의 사람이 되어야 합니다.

 

2. 예수님을 따르게 된 제자들

"충신은 불사이군"이라는 말이 있는데, 요한은 자기를 따르던 제자들이 예수님께로 가는 것을 보고,

"그는 흥하여야 하겠고 나는 쇠하여야 하리라"(요3:30) 하였습니다. 요한은 자기를 따르던 제자들에게 메시아를 증언하고 그분을 따르는 것으로 만족했습니다. 그것이 청지기의 임무이기 때문입니다.

"예수께서 돌이켜 그 따르는 것을 보시고 물어 이르시되 무엇을 구하느냐 이르되 랍비여 어디 계시오니이까 하니 (랍비는 번역하면 선생이라) 예수께서 이르시되 와서 보라 그러므로 그들이 가서 계신 데를 보고 그날 함께 거하니 때가 열 시쯤 되었더라"(38-39).

평범한 질문이요, 대답인 것 같으나 주님과의 만남으로 인하여 그들에게는 운명이 바뀌는 중요한 순간이었습니다.

"여우도 굴이 있고 공중의 새도 거처가 있으되 인자는 머리 둘 곳이 없다"(마8:20) 하신 주님께서 그때 거한 처소가 어떤 곳이었는지 궁금합니다. 예수님은 제자들을 의식해서 별다른 처소를 준비하였으리라고는 생각되지는 않습니다. 참된 신앙이 우리의 목적이라면 환경은 크게 문제 될 것이 없는 것은 진리가 중요하기 때문입니다. 예수님은 나사렛 목수의 아들이 아니라 하나님의 아들이기 때문입니다.

여기서 발견할 수 있는 것은 진리는 강단 교육을 통해서가 아니라 전인 교육을 통해서 얻을 수 있다는 것입니다. 그러므로 우리는 경건한 생활을 통해서 주님을 섬기고 따르는 은혜를 힘입어야 하겠습니다.

 

3. 안드레의 전도

"요한의 말을 듣고 예수를 따르는 두 사람 중의 하나는 시몬 베드로의 형제 안드레라"(40절).

여기에 또 다른 한 사람은 사도 요한으로 보는 것이 지배적인 학설입니다.

"그가 먼저 자기의 형제 시몬을 찾아 말하되 우리가 메시야를 만났다 하고 (메시야는 번역하면 그리스도라)"(41절).

유의할 것은 그때 안드레가 어떻게 그리스도를 먼저 알 수 있었을까 하는 것입니다. 물론 안드레가 그리스도를 알기까지 오랜 시간이 소요되었거나, 어떤 신비의 체험이 있었다고 보기보다는 세례 요한의 증언을 진실한 마음으로 받아들였을 것으로 보아야 할 것입니다.

여기서 또 선택의 은총을 발견하게 됩니다.

"그러므로 전에 너희에게 말하기를 내 아버지께서 오게 하여 주지 아니하시면 누구든지 내게 올 수 없다 하였노라 하시니라 그때부터 그의 제자 중에서 많은 사람이 떠나가고 다시 그와 함께 다니지 아니하더라”(요6:65-66).

믿음은 하나님의 선물입니다(엡2:8). 우리가 불타는 사명감에서 복음을 증언하여도 열매 맺기는 여전히 어렵습니다. 그럴지라도 포기할 수는 없는 것입니다. 내가 거듭난 체험과 깨달은 진리를 증언할 때 복음이 하나님의 능력으로 나타나서 열매를 맺게 될 줄 믿습니다.

"이제는 내가 사는 것이 아니요 오직 내 안에 그리스도께서 사시는 것이라"(갈2:20).

신앙의 안목에서라면 바울이 입으로만 전하는 복음이 아니라 그의 경건한 삶을 통해서도 그리스도를 발견하기에 넉넉했을 줄 압니다.

여러분! 지금 우리는 어떠한 복음을 증언하고 있습니까? 나를 변화시키지 못한 복음은 죽은 복음입니다. 나와 무관한 복음이 아닌 나를 구원하시고 지금도 나와 함께 하시는 메시아를 증언하므로 열매 맺는 성도가 되시기 소원합니다.

 

4. 베드로가 받은 복

"데리고 예수께로 오니 예수께서 보시고 이르시되 네가 요한의 아들 시몬이니 장차 게바라 하리라 하시니라 (게바는 번역하면 베드로라)"(42절).

베드로가 받은 이 말씀은 일반적인 은혜가 아니라 특수한 은혜요, 사명자로서 받을 은혜입니다. 그런 것은 누구에게나 허락되는 은혜가 아니요, 또 욕심을 부린다고 받을 수 있는 것도 아닙니다.

"그런즉 원하는 자로 말미암음도 아니요 달음박질하는 자로 말미암음도 아니요 오직 긍휼히 여기시는 하나님으로 말미암음이니라"(롬9:16).

이렇게 은혜받는 것이 하나님의 주권적인 행사인 줄 알았다면 우리는 주님 앞에 무릎을 꿇어야 합니다. 예언의 은사가 어떤 사람에게 임하는지 아십니까? 예언의 영감이 임하는 사람에게 입니다. 예언은 조심 없이 해서는 안 됩니다. 오늘의 은혜가 선지자들과 함께하신 동일한 은혜일지라도 기록된 성경을 떠나 새로운 영감이나 계시를 받는 것으로 생각해서는 안 될 것입니다. 이는 다른 복음이 없기 때문이요, 구원받을 특별계시는 성경 육십육 권으로 완성되었기 때문입니다.

"네가 요한의 아들 시몬이니 장차 게바라 하리라"

"너희는 나를 누구라 하느냐 시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 바요나 시몬아 네가 복이 있도다 이를 네게 알게 한 이는 혈육이 아니요 하늘에 계신 내 아버지시니라 또 내가 네게 이르노니 너는 베드로라 내가 이 반석 위에 내 교회를 세우리니 음부의 권세가 이기지 못하리라 내가 천국 열쇠를 네게 주리니 네가 땅에서 무엇이든지 매면 하늘에서도 매일 것이요 네가 땅에서 무엇이든지 풀면 하늘에서도 풀리리라"(마16:15-19).

‘이를 네게 알게 한 이는 혈육이 아니요 하늘에 계신 내 아버지시니라’

"우리가 메시아를 만났다"(41절).

안드레가 전한 복음은 시몬을 게바가 되게 하였습니다. 하나님께서는 지금도 역사하십니다.

우리 모두 땅끝까지 증인되어 주님의 영광 드러내시기를 기원합니다. - 아멘 -

 

We met the messiah

John 1:35-42

 

According to the Gospels, there are some differences in the record of the Lord's calling of Peter, Andrew, James, and John. The Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 4:18-22) and the Gospel of Mark (Mark 1:16-20) are the same. In the Gospel of Luke (Luke 5:1-11) there is a miraculous catch, but in the Gospel of John, John the Baptist It is said that Andrew, who was a disciple of , followed the Lord and led his brother Simon. Some people see the relationship with the Gospel of Luke differently and others see it as the same event.

 

1. The testimony of John the Baptist

“The next day John was standing with two of his disciples, and when he saw Jesus walking, he said, Behold the Lamb of God” (35-36).

It was when John the Baptist was baptizing in the Jordan River that he directly testified about the Messiah (v. 28).

It means that the Lamb is a sin offering prepared by God. John the Baptist not only preached the Messiah before his audience, but also testified that Jesus was the Messiah before his disciples.

“The two disciples listened to him and followed Jesus” (verse 37).

Every human being has a sense of honor. And you can't necessarily say it's bad. The phrase 'a ball of snow' is a thing of the past, but I think that the passion we pour into our success is still the same today. If having the dream of becoming rich motivates you to be more diligent than others, there is no reason to condemn it. The dream of great scientists, artists, and politicians is no different.

The important thing is that the dream must come true through good competition. Now, in the Buddhist world, it has been revealed that gangs have been used to seize power, and it is being criticized a lot. I believe that Christianity, which does not wake up from selfishness and division, is a problem that needs to be sincerely repented and corrected.

The resurrection of Jesus is an event that puts his life and death into an extension. The resurrection proves that death is not the end, but only a turning point in eternal life. Through the resurrection of Jesus, mankind has the hope of eternal life. So Christianity boasts the empty tomb of Jesus. Because we believe in the truth of the resurrection, death can no longer be a sorrow. The important thing is that in order to reach the glory of the resurrection, one must pass through the gate of repentance. Whose sin was it that Jesus suffered on the cross? Because of my own sins, not anyone else's.

In Easter, we must become one. There is one God, and there is one truth. Division is never God's will. Division cannot change the world, nor does it become impossible to practice the love of Christ. Tiny water droplets collect to form rivers, which in turn turn giant turbines in power plants to generate electricity. When the saints are united in love, miracles can happen.

Therefore, like John, we must be people of faith who love the truth, testify to the truth, and sacrifice ourselves for the truth.

 

2. The Disciples Who Followed Jesus

There is a saying, “Loyalty is immortal.” When John saw his disciples going to Jesus,

“He must increase, I must decrease” (John 3:30). John was content to testify of the Messiah to his followers and to follow him. Because that's the steward's job.

"When Jesus turned and saw him following, he asked him, "What are you looking for?" He said, "Rabbi, where are you?" more" (38-39).

It seems to be a common question and answer, but it was an important moment in which their fate changed because of their encounter with the Lord.

“Foxes have dens, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head” (Matthew 8:20). It is not believed that Jesus prepared a special place for his disciples consciously. If true faith is our purpose, the environment is not a big problem because the truth is important. Because Jesus is not the son of the carpenter of Nazareth, but the Son of God.

What we can discover here is that truth can be obtained through holistic education, not through pulpit education. Therefore, we should have the grace to serve and follow the Lord through a godly life.

 

3. Andrew's Evangelism

“One of the two who heard John’s words and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother” (verse 40).

Here, the dominant doctrine is to see another person as the apostle John.

“He first found Simon his brother and said, ‘We have found the Messiah.

Note how Andrew could have known Christ first. Of course, it must be seen that it took a long time for Andrew to know Christ, or that he accepted the testimony of John the Baptist with a sincere heart, rather than that he had any mysterious experience.

Here he again discovers the grace of choice.

“Therefore I said to you before, No one can come to me unless my Father gives him permission to come.” From that time on, many of his disciples departed and walked no more with him” (John 6:65-66).

Faith is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8). Even if we bear witness to the gospel with a burning sense of mission, it is still difficult to bear fruit. Even so, you cannot give up. I believe that the gospel will be revealed by the power of God and bear fruit when I bear witness to the truth that I have been born again and realized.

“It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20).

From the point of view of faith, I think it was enough to discover Christ not only through the gospel that Paul preached through his mouth but also through his godly life.

everyone! What kind of gospel are we witnessing now? The gospel that has not changed me is the dead gospel. It is not the gospel that has nothing to do with me, but I hope that you will become a fruitful saint as you testify of the Messiah who saved me and is still with me.

 

4. Peter's Blessing

“They brought him to Jesus, and when he saw him, he said to them, “You are Simon the son of John, and you will be called Cephas.”

These words that Peter received were not general grace, but special grace, and grace to be received as a missionary. It is not a grace that is granted to anyone, and it is not something that can be received by being greedy.

“Therefore, not of a willing, not of a runner, but of a merciful God” (Romans 9:16).

If we knew that receiving grace like this was God's sovereign exercise, we should kneel before the Lord. Do you know who the gift of prophecy falls on? To those who receive the inspiration of prophecy. Prophecy should not be done without caution. Even if today's grace is the same grace that was with the prophets, we should not think of it as receiving new inspiration or revelation from the written Bible. This is because there is no other gospel, and the special revelation to be saved is completed with the sixty-six books of the Bible.

“You are Simon the son of John, and you shall be called Cephas.”

“Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered and said to him, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:15-19).

“Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.”

“We have found the Messiah” (verse 41).

The gospel that Andrew preached turned Simon into Cephas. God is still at work.

We pray that all of us will be witnesses to the ends of the earth and reveal the glory of the Lord. - Amen -
