복음의 사역

행1:4-8

 

사도행전은 사도들이 성령에 붙잡혀 복음 사역에 이바지한 전도의 행적입니다. 주님의 구속 사역은 십자가에서 죽으시고, 삼일 만에 부활하시고, 40일 후에 승천하심으로 완성이 되었으나 만인을 구원할 이 복음을 증언하는 임무는 보혜사 성령으로 말미암아 펼쳐질 복음의 사역입니다.

여기에서 그리스도 탄생 이전과 이후로 구분되는 구원의 섭리를 생각해 본다면 신약과 구약이라는 분기점이 있습니다. 또 다른 측면에서 보면 율법은 이방과 선민의 벽을 만들어 놓았으나, 복음은 이 벽을 무너뜨리고, 만민에게 선포 되었다는 것입니다.

그렇다면 어떤 뜻에서 이런 차이가 있을까요? 사실 구약시대라 하여 하나님을 이스라엘 민족에게만 국한시킬 수 없기 때문입니다. 그러나 이방인이 구원받기 위해서는 반드시 모세에게 주신 율법이 진리인 줄 믿어야 하고 우상을 버리고 하나님을 섬겨야 합니다. 유의할 일은 유대인이라 해서 계명을 어기고 죄를 지어도 용납되고 이방인만 죄를 따라 심판하시는 하나님이 아니라는 것입니다. 도리어 율법을 받은 유대인이 죄를 범할 때 그 율법으로 심판을 받았습니다. 문제는 이렇게 하나님의 공의 앞에서는 이방과 선민이 따로 없다는 것입니다.

그렇다면 정죄의 율법을 인생에게 주신 이유가 무엇까요.

"율법의 행위로 그의 앞에 의롭다 하심을 얻을 육체가 없나니 율법으로는 죄를 깨달음이니라"(롬3:20).

이것이 그 이유입니다. 감사할 일은 영원히 멸망 받아 마땅한 죄인에게 복음이 선포되었다는 것입니다.

"이제는 율법 외에 하나님의 한 의가 나타났으니 율법과 선지자들에게 증거를 받은 것이라 곧 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 말미암아 모든 믿는 자에게 미치는 하나님의 의니 차별이 없느니라"(롬 3:21-22).

얼마나 기쁘고 감사할 일입니까. 그런데 문제는 죄 가운데 있으면서도 죄를 깨닫지 못하므로 복음을 등지는 것이라 하겠습니다. 병든 자에게 의원이 필요한 것같이 주님께서는 죄인을 구원하기 위해 세상에 오셨습니다. 그러므로 우리는 자신의 죄를 깨닫고 삭개오와 같이 그리스도를 영접하여 대속의 은혜를 힘입는 성도들이 되시기 소원합니다.

 

1. 주님의 분부

주님께서 삼 년 동안 세상에 계시면서 복음을 전하신 행적을 살펴보면 너무도 미미하다고 생각되지 않습니까? 물론 어떤 경우에는 오천 명, 사천 명이 운집하였고, 또 복음과 함께 권능을 행사하여 수많은 사람을 병마에서 고쳐주시고 죽은 자를 살리셨습니다. 뿐만 아니라 삼 년 동안 따르던 제자들과 소수의 무리들도 있었습니다. 그러나 주님께서 십자가에 못 박히실 때에 얼마나 남았습니까? 수제자 베드로는 주님을 부인하고, 저주까지 하였습니다. 이해하기 힘든 것은 제자들이 부활하신 주님을 만난 후에도 갈릴리로 돌아갔다는 것입니다. 이는 은혜가 아니고는 아무것도 할 수 없는 무익한 죄인임을 보여주는 것입니다. 이처럼 연약한 제자들에게 주님께서 분부하신 말씀입니다.

"사도와 함께 모이사 그들에게 분부하여 이르시되 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내게서 들은 바 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 기다리라"(행1:4).

‘예루살렘을 떠나지 말라’는 말씀은 오순절 성령이 임할 때까지입니다. 그때는 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아, 땅끝까지 나가야 할 것입니다. 그러므로 그때가 이르기까지는 주님의 분부대로 예루살렘에서 머물러야 했습니다. 그때 제자들이 예루살렘에서 무엇을 하였는지 보십시오.

"제자들이 감람원이라 하는 산으로부터 예루살렘에 돌아오니 이 산은 예루살렘에서 가까워 안식일에 가기 알맞은 길이라 들어가 그들이 유하는 다락방으로 올라가니 베드로, 요한, 야고보, 안드레와 빌립, 도마와 바돌로매, 마태와 및 알패오의 아들 야고보, 셀롯인 시몬, 야고보의 아들 유다가 다 거기 있어 여자들과 예수의 어머니 마리아와 예수의 아우들과 더불어 마음을 같이하여 오로지 기도에 힘쓰더라"(행1:12-14).

이것이 중요합니다. 그들이 삼 년 동안이나 주님과 함께하였고 또 부활 승천하시는 것을 목도했기에 모두가 마음을 같이 하여 기도했습니다. 여러분! 오늘 우리에게 분부하시는 예루살렘은 어디일까요? 우리는 교회에서 기도해야 합니다. 교회는 주님의 분부가 내려진 곳이요, 새로운 임무가 부여되는 곳입니다. 생수의 원천이요, 은혜의 동산입니다.

저는 지난주 성도 중에 상을 당한 분이 있어 장례식 주례를 하면서 하나님의 깊은 은혜를 발견했습니다. 고인이 일평생 우상만을 섬기다가 마지막 돌아가시기 전에 그리스도를 구주로 영접하고 교회에 나와서 예배를 드린 후에 하나님께 불림을 받게 되었는데 이것은 참으로 귀한 일이 아닐 수 없었습니다. 하나님께서는 오늘도 교회를 통해 생명과 구원사역을 계속하십니다. 우리 모두 주님의 분부를 기억하고 기도합시다. 더 큰 은혜를 사모하십시오. 영광의 날이 돌아올 줄 믿습니다.

 

2. 주님의 약속

"예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내게서 들은 바 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 기다리라"(4절).

여기는 막연한 기다림이 아니라 “몇 날이 못되어 성령을 선물로 받으리라”(5절)는 약속을 믿고 기다리는 것입니다. 병든 사람은 병원을 찾고, 목마른 사람은 샘을 찾듯이 내 영이 갈급할 때는 주님을 찾아야 합니다.

시편 기자가 쓴 성전에 올라가는 노래입니다.

"내가 산을 향하여 눈을 들리라 나의 도움이 어디서 올까 나의 도움은 천지를 지으신 여호와에게서로다"(시 121:1-2).

여러분의 소원이 무엇입니까? 모든 문제는 성령이 임할 때 함께 해결됨을 믿으시기 바랍니다. 성령 안에는 온갖 좋은 것이 충만합니다. 하나님의 지혜와 지식과 능력도 마찬가지입니다. 사도들이 무엇으로 그렇게 큰일을 할 수 있었습니까? 하나님의 은혜입니다. 이 은혜를 힘입은 바울은 어떠한 환경도 극복하고 놀라운 역사를 이룩하였습니다.

"내게 능력 주시는 자 안에서 내가 모든 것을 할 수 있느니라"(빌 4:13).

주님께서 약속하신 성령의 은혜가 우리 모두에게 충만하기를 소원합니다.

 

3. 하나님의 권한

주님의 사역에서 발견할 수 있는 것은 바리새인과 서기관들과 달리 영적인 권위와 능력이 있었다는 것입니다. 주님은 말씀으로 죽은 자를 살리시고 귀신을 축출했습니다. 병든 자를 고치고 풍랑을 잔잔하게 하셨습니다. 그는 여러 가지 비유로서 하늘나라의 비밀을 말씀하셨습니다. 그러면서도 하나님의 고유 권한에 대해서는 침묵하셨습니다. 그것이 재림의 날짜입니다.

"때와 시기는 아버지께서 자기의 권한에 두셨으니 너희가 알 바 아니요"(7절).

하나님의 영역을 침해하는 것은 탈선으로 마귀의 교만에 빠지는 것입니다. 하나님은 하늘의 천사라도 자기의 위치를 이탈할 때는 용납하지 않으십니다(유6절).

최초의 불행이 어디에서 왔습니까? 선악과를 먹음으로 하나님과 같아지려는 사탄의 교만에서였습니다. 하나님은 교만한 자를 물리치고 겸손한 자에게 은혜를 내리십니다.

하나님의 비밀 즉, 때와 기한을 아는 것이 우리가 받을 구원에 관계가 된다면 주님께서는 제자들이 물어보기 전에 알려주셨을 것입니다.

과학 문명이 극도로 발전한 오늘을 보면 우리가 얼마나 좋은 세상에서 살고 있는가 하는 생각이 듭니다. 천국이 이렇게까지 좋을까 하는 생각이 들지는 않습니까?

아닌게 아니라 주님께서 지금 나를 천국으로 부르신다면 천천히 가고파서 애쓰는 사람도 있을 것 같습니다. 그렇다고 때가 이르기 전에 빨리 가려고 할 것도 없습니다. 다만 우리는 맡긴 임무를 마치고 주님 앞에 서도록 힘써야 합니다.

마귀의 올무를 주의하십시오. 혹자는 지금은 종말적인 복음만 필요한 때라고도 합니다. 생각해 보십시오. 주님 오신다는 약속을 망각하고 신앙생활 하는 성도가 있을까요? 그런데 이보다 더 중요한 것은 그날에 받을 상급입니다. 그러므로 우리는 주의 날 부끄러움 당하지 않도록 충성하는 성도가 되기를 소원합니다.

 

4. 성령과 능력

"오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고"(8절).

말세를 대비한 성도에게 이보다 더 큰 은혜는 없을 줄 압니다. 주의 사역에 임할 일꾼들에게 가장 중요한 것은 하나님의 능력입니다.

"예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라"(8절).

‘땅끝까지 내 증인’ 이 말씀은 인간적인 생각에서라면 상상을 불허하는 일이라 아니할 수 없습니다.

오늘 우리는 하나님께서 무엇을 원하시며 또 기뻐하시는지 깨달아야 할 것입니다. 우리 모두 더 큰 영광을 위해 기도해야 합니다. 성령을 소멸하지 말고 예언을 멸시하지 마십시오. 땅끝까지 주의 복음 증언하는데 내 생명 제물 되도록 기도합시다.

제자들을 보십시오. 그들은 주님의 분부를 따라 예루살렘을 떠나지 않고 기도하였습니다. 그때 지각이 열리고 능력을 받았습니다. 입을 열어 복음을 증언할 때 기적이 일어나게 되었습니다. 귀신이 물러가고, 병든 자가 고침을 받고, 죽은 영혼이 살아나고, 성도들은 자기들의 소유를 내놓고 주님을 섬김으로 그들 중에 가난한 자들이 없어지고, 날마다 믿는 자들이 늘어나게 되었습니다.

이것이 곧 땅에 이루어진 천국입니다. 모두가 기쁨으로 자발적으로 봉사하였습니다. 이 큰 은혜와 하나님의 축복이 우리 모두에게 일어나기를 기원합니다. - 아멘 -

Acts 1:4-8

 

The book of Acts is the act of evangelism that the apostles contributed to the work of the gospel by being held captive by the Holy Spirit. The Lord's work of redemption was completed by His death on the cross, His resurrection on the third day, and His ascension into heaven 40 days later.

If we consider the providence of salvation before and after the birth of Christ, there is a divergence between the New TestAment and the Old TestAment. From another point of view, the Law created a wall between the Gentiles and the chosen people, but the Gospel broke down this wall and was proclaimed to all.

So, in what sense is this difference? In fact, the Old TestAment era cannot limit God to the people of Israel. However, in order for Gentiles to be saved, they must believe that the law given to Moses is the truth, and they must abandon idols and serve God. It is important to note that God is not a God who is allowed to break the commandments and commit sins because he is a Jew, and judges only Gentiles according to their sins. On the contrary, when the Jews who received the law committed a sin, they were judged by that law. The problem is that in the sight of God's justice, there is no separate people from the Gentiles.

Then, why was the law of condemnation given to life?

“By the works of the law no flesh is justified before him, by the law the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20).

This is why. The thing to be thankful for is that the gospel was preached to sinners who deserve eternal destruction.

“Now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, as evidenced by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, without distinction” (Romans 3:21-22).

How happy and grateful it is. But the problem is that we turn our backs on the gospel because we do not realize our sin even though we are in sin. Just as the sick need a doctor, so the Lord came into the world to save sinners. Therefore, we want to become believers who realize our sins and receive Christ like Zacchaeus and receive the grace of atonement.

 

1. The Lord's Command

If you look at how the Lord preached the gospel while he was in the world for three years, don't you think it's too small? Of course, in some cases, 5,000 or 4,000 people gathered, and by exercising his power along with the gospel, he healed many people from diseases and raised the dead. In addition, there were disciples and a small group of people who had been following them for three years. But how long was left when the Lord was crucified? The disciple Peter denied the Lord and even cursed. What is difficult to understand is that his disciples returned to Galilee after meeting the risen Lord. This shows that he is a useless sinner who can do nothing but grace. These are the words the Lord commanded to these weak disciples.

“They gathered together with the apostles and commanded them, saying, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard from me” (Acts 1:4).

The saying ‘Do not leave Jerusalem’ is until the Holy Spirit comes on the day of Pentecost. At that time, you will have to go out to Jerusalem, and all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Therefore, until then, as the Lord commanded, we had to stay in Jerusalem. Look what the disciples did in Jerusalem then.

“Then the disciples returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called the Olive Garden, which was near Jerusalem, and was a suitable way for the Sabbath, and went in and went up to the upper room where they were staying. Peter, John, James, Andrew and Philip, Thomas and Bartholomew, Matthew and Alphaeus James the son of his son, Simon the Zelotite, and Judas the son of James were all there, and they devoted themselves to prayer, together with the women, Mary the mother of Jesus, and the brothers of Jesus” (Acts 1:12-14).

This is important. They had been with the Lord for three years and witnessed His resurrection and ascension into heaven, so everyone prayed with one heart. everyone! Where is the Jerusalem that you are calling us today? We should pray in church. The church is where the Lord's command is given and where new duties are given. It is the source of living water and the garden of grace.

Last week, I discovered God's profound grace while officiating at a funeral for one of the saints who had been rewarded. The deceased served only idols all his life, but before he finally died, he received Christ as the Savior and came to church to worship. God continues the work of life and salvation through the church today. Let us all remember and pray for the Lord's command. Longing for greater grace. I believe that a glorious day will come.

 

2. The Lord's Promise

“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard from me” (verse 4).

This is not a vague waiting, but waiting with faith in the promise that “in a few days you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (verse 5). Just as a sick person seeks a hospital and a thirsty person seeks a spring, so when our spirit is thirsty, we must seek the Lord.

It is a song about going up to the temple written by the psalmist.

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains; where does my help come from? My help is from the LORD, who made the heavens and the earth” (Psalm 121:1-2).

What are your wishes? Please believe that all problems will be solved together when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. The Holy Spirit is full of all good things. The same is true of the wisdom, knowledge, and power of God. What made the apostles do such a great thing? It is God's grace. With the help of this grace, Paul overcame any circumstances and accomplished an amazing work.

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

I pray that the grace of the Holy Spirit that the Lord has promised will fill us all.

 

3. God's Authority

What we can discover in the Lord's work is that he had spiritual authority and power, unlike the Pharisees and scribes. The Lord raised the dead by his word and cast out his demons. He healed the sick and calmed the storm. He told the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven in various parables. Yet he was silent about God's proper authority. That is the date of the Second Coming.

“It is not for you to know the times or seasons, which the Father has set in his own right” (verse 7).

Infringing on the realm of God is a derailment and falling into the pride of the devil. God does not allow even an angel in heaven to deviate from his position (Jude 6).

Where did the first misfortune come from? It was out of Satan's pride, trying to become like God by eating the fruit of the forbidden fruit. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.

If knowing God's secret—the time and the due date—was concerned with the salvation we will receive, the Lord would have revealed it to his disciples before they asked.

Looking at today's extremely advanced scientific civilization, I think about how good we are in the world we live in. Don't you think that heaven can be this good?

No, but if the Lord calls me to heaven right now, I think there are some people who are trying to go slowly. There is no point in trying to go fast before the time is up. However, we must do our best to finish the task entrusted to us and stand before the Lord.

Beware of the devil's snare. Some say that now is the time when only the eschatological gospel is needed. Think about it. Are there any believers who forget the promise that the Lord will come and live a life of faith? But more important than this is the reward you will receive on that day. Therefore, we wish to become faithful saints so that we will not be put to shame on the Lord's Day.

 

4. Holy Spirit and Power

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you” (verse 8).

I know that there is no greater grace than this for the saints who are preparing for the last days. The most important thing for workers who will work on the Lord's work is the power of God.

“You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (verse 8).

‘My witnesses to the ends of the earth’ These words are unimaginable from a human point of view.

Today we must realize what God wants and is pleased with. We should all pray for greater glory. Do not quench the Holy Spirit and do not despise prophecy. Let's pray to be the sacrifice of my life to testify of the Lord's gospel to the ends of the earth.

Look at the disciples. They followed the Lord's command and prayed without leaving Jerusalem. Then perception was opened and power was given. When I opened my mouth to testify of the gospel, a miracle happened. Demons were cast out, the sick were healed, dead souls were raised, the saints gave up their possessions to serve the Lord, and the poor among them disappeared, and the number of believers increased day by day.

This is the heaven made on earth. All volunteered to serve with joy. May this great grace and God's blessings happen to all of us. - Amen -
