빛 되신 주님

요 9:1-12

 

 

"때가 아직 낮이매 나를 보내신 이의 일을 우리가 하여야 하리라 밤이 오리니 그때는 아무도 일할 수 없느니라"(4절).

여기서 일할 수 있는 낮과 일할 수 없는 밤은 빛으로 오신 주님의 삶과 죽음의 때를 의미하는 것입니다.

사람이 살아있는 동안은 일을 할 수 있으나 죽으면 모든 것은 끝이 납니다.

"네 손이 일을 얻는 대로 힘을 다하여 할지어다 네가 장차 들어갈 스올에는 일도 없고 계획도 없고 지식도 없고 지혜도 없음이니라"(전 9:10).

우리는 살아있는 동안 일하는 기쁨을 잃지 않도록 기도해야 합니다. 땀 흘리고 일할 때 식욕이 살아나고 수고의 보상은 보다 나은 내일을 보장해 줄 것입니다.

우리 민족은 세계 어느 나라보다 근면하기로 정평이 있습니다. 그런데 근로정신에 있어서는 아쉬움이 있습니다. 그칠 줄 모르는 노사파업으로 권리 행사만 주장하지 말고, 주인 의식을 가지고 근면과 성실로 세계적으로 성장시켜 나갔으면 좋겠습니다. 사실 일하고 싶어도 건강이 따르지 못해서 애태우는 사람들이 얼마나 많습니까? 시간은 머물러주지 않습니다.

할 수 있는 일이 있다면 기뻐하십시오. 우리가 세계적인 꿈을 품고 일할 때 세계에서 최고의 기술을 자랑하는 전문가가 될 줄 믿습니다. 에디슨은 "나의 처세 신조는 일이다." 하였습니다.

독일 정치가 비스 마르크는 "내가 청소년들에게 충고하고자 하는 말은 다음의 세 마디뿐이다. 일하라. 더욱더 일하라. 끝내 일하라" 하였습니다.

"내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라"(5절).

무슨 말씀일까요? 빛 되신 그리스도와 함께 있을 때 우리가 생명 사역을 할 수 있다는 말씀입니다. 이 기회를 잃지 마십시오. 특별히 복음 사역에 더욱 충성하시기 바랍니다. 세상일은 허무에 그치지만 주님의 일은 헛되지 않습니다. 어떤 일이 헛된 일이요 어떤 일이 참된 일일까요?

“전도자가 이르되 헛되고 헛되며 헛되고 헛되니 모든 것이 헛되도다(전1:2).

“그러므로 내 형제들아 견실하며 흔들리지 말고 항상 주의 일에 더욱 힘쓰는 자들이 되라 이는 너희 수고가 주 안에서 헛되지 않은 줄을 앎이라”고전15:58).

홍포입은 부자는 세상에서 많은 재물을 쌓았으나 음부에 떨어지고 말았습니다. 물론 성경은 물질을 죄악으로 간주하지 않습니다. 다만 재물에 노예가 되지 말고 맡겨주신 달란트를 갑절로 남겨 선한 사업에 부자가 되기를 소원합니다.

가장 이상적인 발자취를 남긴 바울의 말입니다.

“죽은 자의 부활도 그와 같으니 썩을 것으로 심고 썩지 아니할 것으로 다시 살아나며 욕된 것으로 심고 영광스러운 것으로 다시 살아나며 약한 것으로 심고 강한 것으로 다시 살아나며 육의 몸으로 심고 신령한 몸으로 다시 살아나나니 육의 몸이 있은즉 또 영의 몸도 있느니라”(고전15:42-44).

 

1. 실로암에 가서 씻으라.

"이 말씀을 하시고 땅에 침을 뱉어 진흙을 이겨 그의 눈에 바르시고 이르시되 실로암 못에 가서 씻으라 하시니 (실로암은 번역하면 보냄을 받았다는 뜻이라) 이에 가서 씻고 밝은 눈으로 왔더라"(6-7).

전능하신 주님께서는 말씀만 하셔도 맹인의 눈을 뜨게 할 수가 있습니다. 그런데 다른 방법을 이용하신 것은 진리적인 교훈의 다양성을 보여주는 것이라 하겠습니다. 사실 맹인의 눈이 밝아진 것과 구원의 문제는 별개입니다. 그러나 믿음으로 어두운 눈이 밝아졌다면 동일한 믿음으로 영생에 이를 것을 믿으시기 바랍니다. 믿음이 보배입니다.

그런 방법을 성경에는 반복적으로 하지 않았다 할지라도 동일한 믿음의 역사는 오늘도 계속되고 있습니다. 만일 믿음 없는 사람이 그렇게 하였다면 그것은 진흙을 발랐다가 씻은 것으로 끝나지만 주님께서 말씀하셨으므로 맹인의 눈이 밝아진 것입니다.

실로암 못도 마찬가지입니다. 실로암은 보냄을 받았다는 뜻입니다. 역시 주님께서 실로암 못에 가서 씻으라 하신 말씀이 중요합니다. 여기서 기억해야 할 것은 하나님께서 구원의 은총을 베푸실 때 반드시 순종이 따라야 한다는 것입니다.

"백부장이 대답하여 이르되 주여 내 집에 들어오심을 나는 감당하지 못하겠사오니 다만 말씀으로만 하옵소서 그러면 내 하인이 낫겠사옵나이다 나도 남의 수하에 있는 사람이요 내 아래에도 군사가 있으니 이더러 가라 하면 가고 저더러 오라 하면 오고 내 종더러 이것을 하라 하면 하나이다”(마8:8-9).

우리 모두 말씀에 순종하여 더 큰 은혜를 힘입기 소원합니다.

 

2. 안식일에 병 고치는 일

바리새인들이 예수를 죽이게 된 결정적인 요인은 자기가 하나님의 아들이라는 것과 모세의 율법을 범했다는 것입니다. 빌라도는 주님을 심사하였으나 죽일 죄를 찾지 못했습니다. 그로 인해 풀어주려고 하였지만 유대인들은,

"우리에게 법이 있으니 그 법대로 하면 그가 당연히 죽을 것은 그가 자기를 하나님의 아들이라 함이니이다"(요19:7) 하였습니다.

본문에서 유대인들은 율법을 내세워 안식일에 병을 고친 사건을 문제로 삼았습니다. 그렇다면 안식일을 지키는 목적이 무엇일까요?

"안식일이 사람을 위하여 있는 것이요 사람이 안식일을 위하여 있는 것이 아니니 이러므로 인자는 안식일에도 주인이니라"(막2:27).

안식일 곧 주일을 지키는 목적은,

1) 예배로 하나님께 영광을 돌리는 것입니다. 그로 인해 우리는 위로부터 임하는 은혜와 복을 받게 됩니다.

2) 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 선한 일을 하는 것입니다.

그 일은 믿음을 따라서 하나님께 영광을 돌리는 업적입니다. 다시 말씀드리면 육신의 일이 아닌 영적인 일입니다. 그런데 외식에 치우친 유대인들의 주장은 안식일에는 치유의 은혜를 받지 말고 병석에 그대로 있어야 한다는 것입니다.

하나님은 선하신 분이요, 그의 인자하심은 한이 없으므로 아프게 하시다가 싸매시며, 상하게 하시다가 그 손으로 고쳐 주십니다. 또 우리에게 재앙이 아닌 평안을 주시기 기뻐하십니다.

미국에서 귀국한 친구 목사와 함께 자동차를 타고 가는데, 그 친구의 하는 말이 "우리나라는 교통법규를 무시하는 경향이 너무도 많다"는 이야기를 했습니다. 그 친구도 미국에서 교통표시를 잘못보고 법규를 위반한 일이 있었는데 고액의 벌금과 또 법정에서 재판을 받아야 하는 까다로운 절차를 밟고 난 후부터는 철저하게 법을 지킨다고 했습니다.

여러분! 왜 사회에 법이 필요할까요? 모든 사람이 다 안정된 생활과 자유를 누리기 위해서입니다. 그런데 유대인들의 소행을 보십시오. 그들이 계명을 옳게 지켰습니까? 그랬다면 메시아를 영접할 수 있었을 것입니다.

"유대인들이 그가 맹인으로 있다가 보게 된 것을 믿지 아니하고 그 부모를 불러 묻되 이는 너희 말에 맹인으로 났다 하는 너희 아들이냐 그러면 지금은 어떻게 해서 보느냐"(요9:18-19).

그 부모의 대답입니다.

“이 사람이 우리 아들인 것과 맹인으로 난 것을 아나이다 그러나 지금 어떻게 해서 보는지 또는 누가 그 눈을 누가 그 눈을 뜨게 하였는지 우리는 알지 못하나이다 그에게 물어보소서 그가 장성하였으니 자기 일을 말하리이다”(20-21).

내 자식이 눈을 뜨게 되었는데 어쩌면 이런 대답할 수 있었을까 하는 생각이 듭니다.

“그 부모가 이렇게 말한 것은 이미 유대인들이 누구든지 예수를 그리스도로 시인하는 자는 출교하기로 결의하였으므로 그들을 무서워함이러라”(27절).

그렇지만 눈을 뜬 당사자는 당당하게 증언하고 있습니다.

"하나님이 죄인의 말을 듣지 아니하시고 경건하여 그의 뜻대로 행하는 자의 말은 들으시는 줄을 우리가 아나이다 창세 이후로 맹인으로 난 자의 눈을 뜨게 하였다 함을 듣지 못하였으니 이 사람이 하나님께로부터 오지 아니하였으면 아무 일도 할 수 없으리이다 창세 이후로 맹인으로 난 자의 눈을 뜨게 하였다 함을 듯지 못하였으니 이 사람이 하나님께로부터 오지 아니하였으면 아무 일도 할 수 없으리이다 "(요 9:31-33).

눈을 뜬 사람이 이렇게 말을 하는데 무슨 증언이 필요하겠습니까? 그런데도 교만한 유대인들은 언어 폭력을 쓰며, “네가 죄 가운데서 나서 우리를 가르치느냐”하고 쫓아내었습니다.

 

3. 다시 만나신 예수님

여러분! 주님의 이름으로 박해를 당한 일이 있습니까? 스데반에게 나타나신 주님께서 유대인들의 폭력으로 쫓겨난 사람을 만나 주셨습니다.

“예수께서 그들이 그 사람을 쫓아냈다 하는 말을 들으셨더니 그를 만나사 이르시되 네가 인자를 믿느냐 대답하여 이르되 주여 그가 누구시오니이까 내가 믿고자 하나이다 예수께서 이르시되 네가 그를 보았거니와 지금 너와 말하는 자가 그이니라 이르되 주여 내가 믿나이다 하고 절하는지라”(35-38).

이는 주님께 드리는 경배입니다. 여러분! 복음 때문에 고난 받으신 일이 있습니까? 기뻐하고 감사하십시오. 모든 것을 아시는 주님께서 함께 계심을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

 

4. 본다고 하니 너희 죄가 그대로 있느니라.

“내가 심판하러 이 세상에 왔으니 보지 못하는 자들은 보게 하고 보는 자들은 맹인이 되게 하려 함이라”(39). 너무도 무서운 말씀입니다. 날 때부터 맹인이었던 사람은 오신 메시아로 말미암아 보게 되었는데 본다고 하는 바리새인들은 메시아를 보지 못하였습니다.

“바리새인 중에 예수와 함께 있던 자들이 듣고 이르되 우리도 맹인인가 예수께서 이르시되 너희가 맹인이 되었으면 죄가 없으려니와 본다고 하니 너희 죄가 그대로 있느니라”(40-41).

우리는 눈이 있어도 보지 못하고 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하는 사람이 되어서는 안 될 것입니다. 역사의 황혼이 짙어가고 있습니다. 심판의 밤이 이르기 오신 메시아를 영접하여 하늘의 영광을 볼 수 있기를 기원합니다. - 아멘 -

 

 

Lord of Light

John 9:1-12

 

“The hour is still day, and we must do the work of him who sent me; and the night is coming, when no one can work” (verse 4).

Here, the day when you can work and the night when you cannot work signify the time of the Lord's life and death as the light.

A person can work while he is alive, but when he dies, everything ends.

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no work, no plan, no knowledge, no wisdom in Sheol, into which you are going” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

We must pray that we do not lose the joy of working while we are alive. When you sweat and work, your appetite will be restored, and the rewards of your hard work will guarantee a better tomorrow.

Our people have a reputation for being more diligent than any other country in the world. However, there is disappointment in terms of working spirit. Rather than insisting on the exercise of rights due to the ceaseless labor-management strike, I hope that it will grow globally with diligence and sincerity with a sense of ownership. In fact, how many people are struggling because they want to work, but their health cannot keep up? Time doesn't stand still.

If there is something you can do, rejoice. We believe that when we work with a global dream, we will become experts with the best technology in the world. Edison said, "My tenet is work." I did.

German statesman Bismarck said, "I have only three words of advice for young people: work, work more, work in the end."

“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (verse 5).

What do you mean? It is saying that when we are with Christ who is the light, we can do the work of life. Don't miss this opportunity. In particular, please be more faithful to the gospel ministry. The work of the world is in vain, but the work of the Lord is not in vain. Which things are vain and which are true?

“The evangelist said, Vanity, vanity, vanity, vanity, all things are vanity (Ecclesiastes 1:2).

“Therefore, my brethren, be steadfast, immovable, and always devoted to the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

The rich man in red cloth accumulated a lot of wealth in the world, but he fell into hell. Of course, the Bible does not consider material things a sin. However, I hope that you will not become a slave to wealth, but leave double the talents entrusted to you and become rich in good works.

These are the words of Paul who left the most ideal footsteps.

“So is the resurrection of the dead; it is sown in corruption, it is raised incorruptibility; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in strength; it is sown in a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is also a spirit body” (1 Corinthians 15:42-44).

 

1. Go to Siloam and wash.

"When he had said this, he spit on the ground, made mud and put it on his eyes, saying, "Go to the pool of Siloam and wash." ).

The Almighty Lord can open the eyes of the blind with just a word. However, the use of other methods shows the diversity of truthful lessons. In fact, the eyes of the blind are opened and the issue of salvation is two different things. However, if your dark eyes are opened by faith, please believe that you will reach eternal life with the same faith. Faith is a treasure.

Even if such a method was not repeated in the Bible, the same work of faith continues today. If an unbelieving man did so, it would end in mud and washing, but the eyes of the blind were opened because the Lord had spoken.

So is the pool of Siloam. Siloam means sent. Also, the Lord's command to go to the pool of Siloam and wash is important. What we need to remember here is that when God bestows the grace of salvation, obedience must follow.

"The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my house. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. I am a man under others, and there are soldiers under me; If I say to him, ‘Come,’ he comes, and if I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ he does” (Matthew 8:8-9).

I hope that all of us will obey the Word and receive greater grace.

 

2. Healing on the Sabbath

The decisive factor that led the Pharisees to kill Jesus was that he was the Son of God and that he had broken the law of Moses. Pilate examined the Lord, but found no sin to kill him. He tried to release him, but the Jews

“We have a law, and by that law he must die, because he calls himself the Son of God” (John 19:7).

In the text, the Jews took up the issue of healing on the Sabbath through the Law. So, what is the purpose of keeping the Sabbath?

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath, so that the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27).

The purpose of keeping the Sabbath, or Sunday, is to

1) It is to glorify God through worship. As a result, we receive grace and blessings from above.

2) Doing good works that pleases God.

It is an achievement that glorifies God according to faith. In other words, it is a spiritual work, not a physical work. However, the claim of the Jews, who are biased towards hypocrisy, is that they should not receive the grace of healing on the Sabbath, but should remain in the sick bed.

God is good, and His lovingkindness knows no bounds; He wounds and binds up; He wounds, and His hands heal. He also delights in giving us peace, not calamity.

I was riding a car with a friend of a pastor who had returned from the United States, and the friend said, "There are too many tendencies to ignore traffic laws in our country." The friend also saw the wrong traffic signs and violated laws in the United States, and he said that he would strictly follow the law after going through a difficult procedure that required a high fine and trial in court.

everyone! Why does society need laws? It is for everyone to enjoy a stable life and freedom. But look at what the Jews do. Did they keep the commandments right? If so, we would have been able to receive the Messiah.

“The Jews did not believe that he was blind and saw him, but called his parents and asked, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind?” (John 9:18-19).

That's the parent's answer.

“We know that this man is our son, and that he was born blind, but we do not know how he sees now, or who opened his eyes. 20-21).

My son has opened his eyes, and I wondered if I could have answered something like this.

“These parents said these things, because they were afraid of the Jews, because whoever confessed that Jesus is the Christ was determined to go out of the church” (verse 27).

However, the person who opened his eyes is confidently testifying.

"We know that God does not listen to sinners, but to those who are godly and do His will. We have not heard from the foundation of the world that He opened the eyes of those who were born blind. This man does not come from God. Since the foundation of the world, it has not been said that I opened the eyes of a man born blind, for nothing would be possible if this man did not come from God” (John 9:31-33).

What kind of testimony is needed when a person who has opened his eyes says this? Still, the proud Jews used verbal violence and drove them out, saying, “Are you born in sin and teach us?”

 

3. Jesus Reunited

everyone! Have you ever been persecuted in the name of the Lord? The Lord appeared to Stephen and met a man who had been driven out by the violence of the Jews.

“When Jesus heard that they had driven the man away, he met him and said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered and said, “Who is this, Lord? “Lord, I believe,” he bowed down” (35-38).

This is worship to the Lord. everyone! Have you ever suffered because of the gospel? Rejoice and be grateful. Please believe that the Lord who knows everything is with you.

 

4. If you say you see, your sins are still there.

“I came into this world for judgment, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind” (39). That's such a scary word. Those who were blind from birth could see because of the coming Messiah, but the Pharisees who said they saw did not see the Messiah.

“When some of the Pharisees with Jesus heard it, they said, “Are we also blind?” Jesus said to him, “If you were blind, you would have no sin, but when you say you see, your sins are still there” (40-41).

We must not be those who have eyes but do not see, and have ears but do not hear. The twilight of history is deepening. I pray that the night of judgment will come so that we can receive the Messiah and see the glory of heaven. - Amen -
