베드로의 설교

행2:14-21

 

사도행전에는 베드로의 설교가 아홉 번 있습니다(1:16-22, 2:14-36, 3:15-26, 4:8-12, 5:29-32, 8:20-25, 10:34-43, 11:5-7, 15:7-11).

물론 이보다 더 많은 복음 선포가 있었으리라 생각합니다마는 중요한 것은 그의 설교가 특별 계시로 기록되어 있다는 것입니다. 그중에서도 본문에 있는 설교는 가장 길게 기록되어 있습니다.

 

1. 담대한 믿음

바울의 성격은, 예리하고 민첩한 반면에 베드로는 혈기 많고 급한 성격의 소유자라 하겠습니다. 이로 인해 베드로는 주님의 칭찬을 듣는 일도 남달랐고 책망받은 일도 그랬습니다. 또한 죽을지언정 주님을 떠나지 않으리라고 하였으나 세 번이나 맹세코 부인하였던 약한 모습을 드러내기도 하였습니다. 그렇지만 우리는 이렇게 허물이 많은 사람이라 할지라도 들어 쓰시는 하나님께 감사해야 합니다.

이것이 오순절 사건으로 일어난 역사입니다. 본문에 등장하는 베드로의 모습을 보십시오. 그는 심약하고 비굴했던 옛사람이 아니라 사자와 같이 당당한 새사람이 되었습니다.

"베드로가 열한 사도와 함께 서서 소리를 높여 이르되 유대인들과 예루살렘에 사는 모든 사람들아 이 일을 너희로 알게 할 것이니 내 말에 귀를 기울이라 때가 제 삼시니 너희 생각과 같이 이 사람들이 취한 것이 아니라"(14절).

성령의 불길로 선포하는 복음입니다. 진리를 비방하는 무리를 향해 담대하게 증언하고 있습니다. 성령의 도구로 쓰임을 받게 되면 우리의 입을 통해 하나님의 권능이 나타남을 믿으시기 바랍니다. 제가 이 말씀을 준비하고 있을 때, 20일 동안 특별 기도에 참석한 K집사의 전화를 받았습니다.

"목사님, 감사합니다. 병원에 가서 다시 진단을 받았는데 의사가 놀랄 정도로 몸이 좋아졌다고 합니다. 지금까지 담당 의사는 제 나이가 오십 대만 되어도 이런 말을 안할텐데 아직 삼십 대 젊은 나이이니 입원하여 치료를 받으라고 권유해 왔습니다. 그나마도 이 병은 확실히 치료되는 약이 없으니 입원하여 경과를 보아야 한다고 했습니다." 그 음성은 떨리는 목소리였고 눈물에 잠긴 목소리였습니다. 하나님께 영광을 돌립니다.

"그러므로 너희 담대함을 버리지 말라 이것이 큰 상을 얻게 하느니라"(히 10:35).

우리 모두 담대한 믿음으로 주님의 영광을 드러내는 성도들이 되시기 소원합니다.

 

2. 요엘의 예언

사실 그때 베드로는 청중들을 위한 설교를 준비했던 자리가 아니었습니다. 그런데 이것이 성령의 역사임을 모르고 비방하므로 이것은 술 취한 것이 아니라 이미 선지자 요엘을 통한 예언이 지금 이루어졌다고 증언하였습니다.

1) 말세의 의미

"이는 곧 선지자 요엘을 통하여 말씀하신 것이니 일렀으되 하나님이 말씀하시기를 말세에 내가 내 영을 모든 육체에게 부어 주리니 너희의 자녀들은 예언할 것이요 너희의 젊은이들은 환상을 보고 너희의 늙은이들은 꿈을 꾸리라 그 때에 내가 내 영을 내 남종과 여종들에게 부어 주리니 그들이 예언할 것이요"(16-18).

여기서 유의할 것은 말세입니다. 요엘의 예언은 분명히 말세인데 그 예언이 지금 이루어졌다는 것이 중요합니다. 물론 말세 또는 종말이라는 용어는 기독교에서만 쓰는 말은 아닙니다. 그러나 시한부 종말론 자들이 이를 잘못 해석하므로 사회에 물의를 일으켜 복음의 문을 가로막는 일들은 불행한 일이 아닐 수 없습니다.

"말세에"라는 말은 '끝 날들에'라는 의미입니다. 하지만 유대인들이 말하는 말세는 메시아가 오시기 직전을 가리키고 있습니다(사2:2; 미4:1).

기독교에서는 이 말세가 그리스도의 초림에서 재림 때까지를 의미합니다. 중요한 것은 기독교의 복음이 곧 종말적인 복음이라는 것입니다. 세례 요한의 증언입니다.

"회개하라 천국이 가까왔느니라"(마3:2).

"이미 도끼가 나무뿌리에 놓였으니 좋은 열매 맺지 아니하는 나무마다 찍혀 불에 던져지리라"(마 3:10).

주님께서도 종말적인 복음으로 시작하셨습니다.

"회개하라 천국이 가까왔느니라"(마4:17).

사도들도 임박한 종말의 복음을 선포했습니다. 종말적인 복음의 중요성은 종말 의식을 통해서 거듭날 수 있기 때문입니다. 십자가의 도가 곧 종말적인 복음이요, 중생의 복음이 종말적인 복음입니다. 이것이 곧 접붙이는 비유를 통해 우리에게 가르쳐 주신 진리요, 정과 욕을 죽여야 우리가 그리스도로 살게 되는 진리입니다. 그러므로 우리가 거듭날 수 있는 것은 옛사람이 십자가에 못 박혀 죽어야 한다는 것임을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

2) 성령의 역사

주님께서 귀신을 쫓아내실 때 "귀신의 왕 바알세불"이 들렸다고 비방하던 자들이, 이제는 성령이 역사함을 보고 "새 술에 취했다"고 했습니다. 그러나 이것이 곧 선지자 요엘의 예언이 성취된 것입니다.

"내가 내 영을 모든 육체에게 부어 주리니"(17절).

이는 히브리 표현법으로 "모든 사람에게 주의 영을 보내리라"는 말씀입니다.

"너희의 자녀들은 예언할 것이요 너희의 젊은이들은 환상을 보고 너희의 늙은이들은 꿈을 꾸리라"(17절).

모두가 성령으로 말미암아 나타나는 현상입니다.

"그 때에 내가 내 영을 내 남종과 여종들에게 부어 주리니 그들이 예언할 것이요"(18절). 이것이 오순절에 이루어진 말씀이요, 또 복음의 사역과 함께 일어나는 역사입니다.

3) 심판의 징조

"또 내가 위로 하늘에서는 기사를 아래로 땅에서는 징조를 베풀리니 곧 피와 불과 연기로다 주의 크고 영화로운 날이 이르기 전에 해가 변하여 어두워지고 달이 변하여 피가 되리라"(19-20절).

이는 마태복음 24:29에 있는 말씀입니다. 진리적인 안목이 아니고는 깨닫기 어려운 말씀입니다. 이를 가리켜 초자연적인 현상으로(De Wette), 또는 전쟁으로 말미암은 현상으로(Holtzmann, 박윤선) 보기도 합니다. 물론 이 말씀은 오순절 사건을 초월하여 마지막 심판이 어떻게 발생할 것을 예언한 것입니다.

중요한 것은 "주의 크고 영화로운 날"입니다. 히브리 원어에는 "영화로운 날" 대신에 "무서운 날"이라 하였습니다. 과연 주님께서 재림하시는 그날에는 불의한 자들의 심판을 받고, 성도들은 구원을 받으므로, 지상 최대의 희비가 엇갈리는 현상이 함께 나타날 것입니다. 그때 부끄러움 당하지 아니하고 영광에 이르기를 소원합니다.

 

3. 다윗의 예언

지금까지 베드로는 구약에서 요엘 선지자의 예언한 말씀을 무리들에게 전한 다음 이제는 조상 다윗의 예언을 통해 그리스도의 복음을 증언하기 시작합니다. 유의할 것은 복음의 정통성입니다. 복음은 뿌리와 줄기, 열매가 연결되어 있습니다. 여기에 뿌리는 유대인들이 가지고 있는 모세의 율법 곧 구약입니다.

"나사렛에서 어찌 선한 것이 날 수 있겠느냐"(요1:46).

이것이 나다나엘의 선입관입니다. 주님은 분명히 유대 땅 베들레헴에서 탄생하셨습니다. 그러므로 유대인들이 다윗이 섬긴 하나님을 믿는다면 그리스도를 불신할 이유가 없는 것입니다.

"형제들아 내가 조상 다윗에 대하여 담대히 말할 수 있노니 다윗이 죽어 장사되어 그 묘가 오늘까지 우리 중에 있도다 그는 선지자라 하나님이 이미 맹세하사 그 자손 중에서 한 사람을 그 위에 앉게 하리라 하심을 알고 미리 본 고로 그리스도의 부활을 말하되 그가 음부에 버림이 되지 않고 그의 육신이 썩음을 당하지 아니하시리라 하더니 이 예수를 하나님이 살리신지라 우리가 다 이 일에 증인이로다"(29-32절).

예수님을 십자가에 못 박은 유대인들에게는 너무도 충격적인 말씀이 아닐 수 없습니다. 그들이 아브라함의 자손이라 하면서 예수님을 불신하는 것은 스스로 그들의 역사를 배반하는 행위가 될 것입니다.

"다윗은 하늘에 올라가지 못하였으나 친히 말하여 이르되 주께서 내 주에게 말씀하시기를 내가 네 원수로 네 발등상이 되게 하기까지 너는 내 우편에 앉아있으라 하셨도다"(34-35절).

이제 베드로가 성령으로 증언하는 복음은 마지막 결론에 이르렀습니다. 전도자의 진실한 소원은 구원의 열매입니다. 동기가 어떻게 되었든지 복음을 들을 수 있었던 그 무리가 복되고, 이 말씀을 듣는 모두가 복됨을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

"그런즉 이스라엘 온 집은 확실히 알지니 너희가 십자가에 못 박은 이 예수를 하나님이 주와 그리스도가 되게 하셨느니라 하니라"(36절).

"그들이 이 말을 듣고 마음에 찔려 베드로와 다른 사도들에게 물어 이르되 형제들아 우리가 어찌할꼬"(37절).

"하나님의 말씀은 살아있고 활력이 있어 좌우에 널선 어떤 검보다도 예리하여 혼과 영과 및 관절과 골수를 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며 또 마음의 생각과 뜻을 판단하나니"(히4:12).

"내 말이 불같지 아니하냐 바위를 쳐서 부스러뜨리는 방망이 같지 아니하냐"(렘23:29).

배로 하나님을 대신하고 부끄러움을 영광으로 삼았다면 회개해야 합니다.

"너희가 회개하여 각각 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 세례를 받고 죄 사함을 받으라 그리하면 성령의 선물을 받으리니 이 약속은 너희와 너희 자녀와 모든 먼 데 사람 곧 주 우리 하나님이 얼마든지 부르시는 자들에게 하신 것이라"(38절).

너무도 귀중한 은혜요, 축복의 말씀입니다. 주의 복음은 죄인을 심판하는 것이 아니라 사유의 은혜로 구원받는 것이라면, 우리 모두 회개하고 그리스도의 보혈로 새사람이 되어서 하늘나라 영광을 누리시기를 기원합니다. - 아멘 -

 

 

 

Peter's Sermon

Acts 2:14-21

 

There are nine sermons by Peter in Acts (1:16-22, 2:14-36, 3:15-26, 4:8-12, 5:29-32, 8:20-25, 10:34). -43, 11:5-7, 15:7-11).

Of course, there must have been more gospel proclamations than this, but the important thing is that his sermons are recorded as special revelations. Among them, the sermon in the main text is the longest recorded.

 

1. bold faith

Paul's personality is sharp and agile, while Peter has a lively and quick-tempered personality. For this reason, it was unusual for Peter to receive praise from the Lord and to be rebuked. He also said that he would not leave the Lord even if he were to die, but he also revealed the weakness of which he had sworn three times. However, we should give thanks to God who listens to even such a person with many faults.

This is the history of the Pentecost event. Look at the figure of Peter in the text. He became a new man as dignified as a lion, not the weak and humble old man.

"And Peter stood with the eleven apostles and lifted up his voice, saying, "Jews and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words; for it is the third hour, and these men are not drunk as you think." (verse 14).

It is the gospel proclaimed by the fire of the Holy Spirit. He boldly testifies to the crowd who slander the truth. Please believe that God's power will be revealed through our mouths when we are used as an instrument of the Holy Spirit. As I was preparing these sermons, I got a call from Deacon K, who had been attending special prayers for 20 days.

"Pastor, thank you. I went to the hospital and was diagnosed again, and the doctor said that my body improved surprisingly. Until now, the doctor in charge wouldn't say something like this even when I'm in my 50s, but I'm still young in my thirties, so I need to be hospitalized for treatment. Even so, there is no cure for this disease, so I had to be hospitalized to see the progress.” It was a trembling voice and a voice filled with tears. Glory to God.

“Therefore, do not forsake your courage, for this will bring you great rewards” (Hebrews 10:35).

We want all of us to become saints who reveal the glory of the Lord with bold faith.

 

2. Joel's Prophecy

In fact, at that time, Peter was not in the position to prepare a sermon for the audience. However, he did not know that this was the work of the Holy Spirit and slandered it, so he testified that the prophecy through the prophet Joel had already been fulfilled, not because he was drunk.

1) Meaning of the last days

"This was spoken through the prophet Joel, saying, In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your children will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Then I will pour out my Spirit on my male and female servants, and they will prophesy” (16-18).

The last thing to note here is the last days. Joel's prophecy is clearly the last days, but it is important that the prophecy has now come true. Of course, the terms of the last days or the end times are not unique to Christianity. However, it is unfortunate that the time-limited eschatologists misinterpret this, causing a scandal in society and blocking the door of the Gospel.

"In the last days" means 'at the last days'. However, the last days the Jews speak of refers to just before the coming of the Messiah (Isaiah 2:2; Micah 4:1).

In Christianity, these last days mean the time from the first coming of Christ to the second coming. The important thing is that the Christian gospel is the eschatological gospel. This is the testimony of John the Baptist.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 3:2).

“The ax is already laid at the root of the trees; every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire” (Matthew 3:10).

The Lord also started with the eschatological gospel.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17).

The apostles also proclaimed the gospel of the impending end. The importance of the eschatological gospel is that one can be born again through the eschatological ritual. The message of the cross is the eschatological gospel, and the gospel of regeneration is the eschatological gospel. This is the truth taught to us through the parable of grafting, and it is the truth that we can live as Christ only when we kill affection and slander. Therefore, please believe that in order for us to be born again, the old self must be crucified and die.

2) The work of the Holy Spirit

Those who criticized that "Beelzebub, the king of demons," was possessed when the Lord cast out demons, saw the Holy Spirit at work and said, "I am drunk with new wine." But this was the fulfillment of the prophecy of the prophet Joel.

“I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh” (verse 17).

This is the Hebrew expression, "I will send the Spirit of the Lord to everyone."

“Your children shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams” (verse 17).

All of this is a phenomenon that is manifested by the Holy Spirit.

“Then I will pour out my Spirit upon my male and female servants, and they shall prophesy” (verse 18). This is the word that was fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost, and it is the work that takes place along with the work of the gospel.

3) sign of judgment

“And I will make wonders in heaven above, and signs on earth below: blood and fire and smoke; the sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord” (verses 19-20).

This is from Matthew 24:29. It is a word that is difficult to understand without a real perspective. This is sometimes referred to as a supernatural phenomenon (De Wette) or as a phenomenon caused by war (Holtzmann, Park Yun-sun). Of course, these words prophesied how the final judgment would take place beyond the Pentecost event.

What matters is "the great and glorious day of the Lord." In the original Hebrew, instead of "a glorious day," it is called "a dreadful day." Indeed, on the day when the Lord returns, the unrighteous will be judged and the saints will be saved. At that time, I hope that you will not be put to shame and come to glory.

 

3. David's Prophecy

So far, Peter has delivered the prophecies of the prophet Joel in the Old TestAment to the crowd, and now he begins to testify to the gospel of Christ through the prophecies of his father David. It should be noted that the orthodoxy of the gospel. The gospel is connected with roots, stems, and fruits. The root of this is the Mosaic Law, the Old TestAment, that the Jews have.

“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46).

This is Nathanael's preconceived notion. The Lord was clearly born in Bethlehem, the land of Judea. Therefore, if the Jews believe in the God whom David served, there is no reason to disbelieve in Christ.

“I can speak with boldness, brethren, of the father David, who died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. He is a prophet, and because he knew and foresaw that God had sworn that one of his descendants would sit on it, He spoke of the resurrection of God, saying, “He will not be abandoned in hell, nor his body will see corruption.” This Jesus was raised by God, and we are all witnesses of these things” (verses 29-32).

For the Jews who crucified Jesus, this is a very shocking statement. To distrust Jesus by saying that they are the descendants of Abraham would be an act of betraying their own history.

“David did not ascend to heaven, but he himself spoke, saying, The Lord said to my lord, Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet” (verses 34-35).

Now, the gospel that Peter testifies with the Holy Spirit has reached its final conclusion. The true wish of the evangelist is the fruit of salvation. Please believe that the people who were able to hear the Gospel will be blessed no matter what their motives are, and that everyone who hears these words will be blessed.

“Therefore, let all the house of Israel know for certain, that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ” (verse 36).

“When they heard this, they were cut to the heart and asked Peter and the other apostles, saying, “Brothers, what shall we do?” (verse 37).

“The word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two wide swords, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

“Are not my words like fire? Are not they like a hammer that smashes a rock” (Jeremiah 23:29).

If you have replaced God with a boat and turned shame into glory, you must repent.

“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, this promise to you and your children and to all who are far off, to all whom the Lord our God calls He did” (verse 38).

It is a very precious grace, a word of blessing. If the Lord's gospel is not about judging sinners, but about salvation through the grace of forgiveness, I pray that all of us will repent and become new people through the blood of Christ and enjoy the glory of the kingdom of heaven. - Amen -
