낮이 열두 시가 아니냐

요11:1-16

 

주님의 공생애 삼년 동안 누구보다 사랑을 많이 받은 가정이 베다니에 사는 나사로와 마르다, 마리아 남매들이라 생각합니다. 주님께서 예루살렘에 입성하실 때 나사로의 집을 찾았고 또 거기서 유숙하신 것을 보면 주님을 사랑하는 마음이 남달랐음을 알 수 있습니다.

나사로의 무덤에서 살아난 사건은 요한복음에만 기록되어 있는데 그렇게 중요한 것이 다른 복음서에 기록되지 않은 이유에 관해서 여러 가지 추측이 있는데 타당한 이유로는 복음서를 기록할 당시에 나사로가 살아 있었으므로, 또 그가 있을 때 부활 사건을 기록하게 되면 유대인들로부터 더 많은 박해를 받을 수 있었기 때문이라는 것입니다.

 

1. 베다니

베다니는 감람산 동편 경사진 곳에 있는 마을로서 그곳 주민은 천 명 정도이고, 예루살렘에서는 약 3km의 거리입니다. 또 여리고로 향하는 길목으로, 주님께서 예루살렘에 입성하실 때 제자들을 보내어 나귀 새끼를 끌어오게 했던 벳바게는 베다니에서 가까운 곳에 있습니다. 베다니는 문둥이 시몬의 집도 있는데 그들을 동일 인물로 보기도 합니다.

베다니는 주님의 사랑하는 나사로와 그의 가족이 살았던 마을이요, 죽었던 나사로가 다시 살아난 일로 인해 그리스도가 메시아임을 보여주신 곳입니다.

"예수께서 그들을 데리고 베다니 앞까지 나가사 손을 들어 그들에게 축복하시더니 축복하실 때에 그들을 떠나 하늘로 올려 지시니"(눅24:50-51).

지금 베다니 마을에는 나사로의 기념 교회가 있습니다.

 

2. 병든 나사로

인간에게 가장 큰 불행은 질병과 죽음인데 그것이 죄의 보응입니다. 여기는 자범죄와 원죄가 다 포함되어 있습니다. 인생은 태어날 때부터 원죄의 보응을 피할 수가 없는 것입니다. 이러한 인생에게 유일한 소망이 있다면 메시아가 세상에 오셨다는 것입니다. 이제는 예수 그리스도의 대속으로 허물진 죄인이 사유함을 받게 되었고 그리스도로 말미암아 불행이 행복으로, 사망이 생명으로 변화게 되었습니다.

고통을 미화한 어거스틴의 말입니다.

"고통이란 수를 놓은 천을 보는 것과 같다. 천의 뒷면을 보면 많은 색깔의 실이 무질서하게 얽혀있어 보기에 나쁘다. 고통을 괴로움이나 부조리로 보는 것은 뒷면만 보기 때문이다. 천의 앞면을 보면 실들은 형태와 색채의 조화로 아름답다. 하나님의 섭리를 믿는 사람은 무질서를 넘어 아름다운 미래를 본다."

일전에 자신의 용모에 대해 비관하여 자살로 막을 내린 어느 소녀의 죽음에 대한 기사를 보고 과연 그 길밖에 없었을까 하는 안타까움이 들었습니다. 사람을 외모로 취하는 사회의 가치 기준은 참으로 큰 문제가 아닐 수 없습니다. 그러나 인간은 그것을 어떻게 대처해 나가느냐에 따라 약점을 통해 더 큰 일을 할 수도 있다는 사실을 깨달아야 합니다.

이스라엘의 전 수상 골다 메이어(1978-1989)는 십이 년 동안 백혈병과 투병하면서 이스라엘의 연립내각을 이끌고 중동 평화를 위해 큰일을 이룩한 여장부입니다. 그는 "내 얼굴이 못난 것이 다행이었다. 내가 못났기에 열심히 기도했고, 공부를 하여 나의 약함이 이 나라에 도움이 되었다"고 하였습니다.

우리도 예수의 이름으로 자신의 약점을 자랑할 수 있는 성도들이 되어야 하겠습니다. 병든 나사로가 죽어서 무덤에 들어간 일이 불행이 될 수 없었던 것은 예수 그리스도로 인하여 다시 살아났기 때문입니다. 이 놀라운 은혜와 복이 오늘도 함께 하심을 믿으시기 소원합니다.

 

3. 이틀을 더 유하신 주님

"이에 그 누이들이 예수께 사람을 보내어 이르되 주여 보시옵소서 사랑하시는 자가 병들었나이다"(3절).

사랑의 호소력은 어떤 것보다 더 크게 마음을 움직일 수 있습니다. 미국의 로버트 슐러 목사가 우리나라에 와서 부흥회를 인도하는 기간에 자기 딸이 교통사고를 당했다는 소식을 접하고 즉시 비행기를 타고 미국으로 돌아간 일이 있었습니다. 사랑하시는 자가 병들었다는 소식을 접한 주님의 말씀입니다.

"예수께서 들으시고 이르시되 이 병은 죽을병이 아니라 하나님의 영광을 위함이요 하나님의 아들이 이로 말미암아 영광을 받게 하려 함이라"(4절).

누구를 막론하고 대책이 없을 때는 조급해지기 마련입니다. 산모는 통증을 못 이겨 몸부림을 치는데 숙련된 의사는 태연합니다. 이는 산고를 겪어야 출산이 되는 것을 알고 있기 때문입니다.

"나사로가 병들었다 함을 들으시고 그 계시던 곳에 이틀을 더 유하시고 그 후에 제자들에게 이르시되 유대로 다시 가자 하시니"(6-7).

주님께서 그렇게 다급한 상황을 알면서도 왜 그곳에서 이틀을 더 유하셔야 했던 이유는 제자들의 믿음을 위해서였고 더 큰 영광을 하나님께 돌리기 위해서였습니다.

"내가 거기 있지 아니한 것을 너희를 위하여 기뻐하노니 이는 너희로 믿게 하려 함이라"(15절).

주님께서는 수많은 병자들을 고쳐주셨습니다. 그러나 병든 자가 회복되는 것보다 무덤에서 살아나는 것은 더 놀라운 일이 아닐 수 없는 것입니다. 이는 또 제자들뿐만 아니라 유대인들의 믿음을 위해서도 마찬가지입니다.

“아버지여 내 말을 들으신 것을 감사하나이다 항상 내 말을 들으시는 줄을 내가 알았나이다 그러나 이 말씀 하옵는 것은 둘러선 무리를 위함이니 곧 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것을 그들로 믿게 하려 함이니이다”(요11:41-42).

"나사로 때문에 많은 유대인이 가서 예수를 믿음이러라"(요12:11).

 

4. 낮이 열두 시가 아니냐

낮은 동적인 시간이고 밤은 정적인 시간입니다. 밤과 낮은 자연의 질서입니다.

사람이 잠잘 때 자지 않고 쉬는 시간에 쉬지 않고 일을 하면 생산이 늘어날 것 같지만 오래지 않아 무력증에 빠져들어 의욕을 상실하게 되는 것입니다. 물론 일할 시간에 일하지 않고 놀고, 잠자기만 즐긴다면 그것은 더 큰 문제입니다. 체력이 탄력을 잃지 않고 의욕을 살려 나가려면 동적인 시간과 정적인 시간의 조화를 이루어야 합니다.

선진국과 후진국의 차이가 어디에 있다고 생각하십니까? 물론 여러 가지로 생각할 수 있지만, 그중에 한 가지는 자기가 하는 일에 긍지와 자부심을 가지고 일하는 것과, 내가 일하는 것에 자부심을 잃고 또 게으름에 있을 것입니다.

“게으른 자의 욕망은 자기를 죽이나니 이는 자기의 손으로 일하기를 싫어함이니라”(잠21:25).

젊을 때 일해야 하고, 또 건강할 때 일해야 합니다. 보다 밝은 내일을 보장받기 원하십니까? 힘써 일하십시오. 특히 주님께서 기뻐하시는 선한 일에 더욱 충성해야 합니다.

"낮이 열두 시간이 아니냐"(9절).

그 당시 이스라엘은 새벽부터 해질 때까지 십이 등분으로 시간을 정했습니다. 사람이 살면서 일할 수 있을 때에는 부지런히 일해야 합니다. 본문이 주는 교훈은 우리가 세상에 사는 동안 하나님의 일을 해야 함을 가르치는 것입니다.

"때가 아직 낮이매 나를 보내신 이의 일을 우리가 하여야 하리라 밤이 오리니 그때는 아무도 일할 수 없느니라 내가 세상에 있는 동안에는 세상의 빛이로라"(요9:4-5).

더 밝은 내일은 오늘 땀 흘리고 수고한 자들에게 돌아오는 보상이요, 하늘나라에서 받을 상급은 이 땅에서 주님을 위해 충성한 자들에게 주시는 은혜입니다. 하나님 나라에서 받을 상급이 귀한 줄 알았다면 하나님 기뻐하시는 사역에 힘쓰는 성도들이 되시기 소원합니다.

 

5. 잠든 나사로

"이 말씀을 하신 후에 또 이르시되 우리 친구 나사로가 잠들었도다 그러나 내가 깨우러 가노라 제자들이 이르되 주여 잠들었으면 났겠나이다"(11-12).

"이에 예수께서 밝히 이르시되 나사로가 죽었느니라 내가 거기 있지 아니한 것을 너희를 위하여 기뻐하노니 이는 너희로 믿게 하려 함이라 그러나 그에게로 가자하시니"(14-15).

어떤 의사도 죽은 자를 살릴 수는 없습니다.

"마르다가 예수께 여짜오되 주께서 여기 계셨더라면 내 오라버니가 죽지 아니하였겠나이다 그러나 나는 이제라도 주께서 무엇이든지 하나님께 구하시는 것을 하나님이 주실 줄을 아나이다"(요11:21-22).

얼마나 기막힌 일입니까? 그들은 누구보다 주님의 사랑을 많이 받은 자들입니다. 또 그동안 주님께서 행하시는 수많은 일들을 눈으로 보았고 또 들었습니다. 그런데 그들에게는 사후 약방문이 되었으니 그 슬픔은 말할 수 없었을 것입니다. 주님의 말씀입니다.

“네 오라비가 다시 살아나리라 마르다가 이르되 마지막 날 부활 때에는 다시 살아날 줄을 내가 아나이다”

‘마지막 날 부활 때에는 다시 살아날 줄을 내가 아나이다’ 이 믿음에 예수님은 족하다 않으시고,

“나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고 무릇 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니 이것을 네가 믿느냐”

“이르되 주여 그러하외다 주는 그리스도시오 세상에 오시는 하나님의 아들이신 줄 내가 믿나이다”(요11:23-27).

‘나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고 무릇 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니 이것을 네가 믿느냐’에 마르다는 화답한 것입니다. 그런데 인간의 믿음이 얼마나 연약한지 보십시오. 예수님은 즉시 나사로의 무덤을 찾았고 또 거기서 돌을 옮겨 놓으라 명하실 때 마르다의 대답입니다.

“돌을 옮겨 놓으라 하시니 그 죽은 자의 누이 마르다가 이르되 주여 죽은지가 나흘이 되었으매 벌써 냄새가 나나이다 이것이 인간이 가진 믿음입니다.

“주여, 내가 믿나이다 나의 믿음 없는 것을 도와 주소서”(막9:24).

믿음은 하나님의 선물입니다(엡2:8).

“믿음이 온 후로는 우리가 초등교사 아래 잊지 아니하도다”(갈3:25).

“예수께서 이르시되 내 말이 네가 믿으면 하나님의 영광을 보리라 하지 아니하였느냐 하시니”(요11:40).

“돌을 옮겨 놓으니 예수께서 눈을 들어 우러러 보시고 이르시되 아버지여 내 말을 들으신 것을 감사하나이다 항상 내 말을 들으시는 줄을 내가 알았나이다 그러나 이 말씀 하옵는 것은 둘러선 무리를 위함이니 곧 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것을 그들로 믿게 하려 함이니이다 이 말씀을 하시고 큰 소리로 나사로야 나오라 부르시니 죽은 자가 수족을 베로 동인 채로 나오는데 그 얼굴은 수건에 싸였더라 예수께서 이르시되 풀어 놓아 다니게 하라 하시니라"(요11:41-44).

나사로는 다시 살아났고, 하나님의 영광은 땅 위에 넘쳤습니다. 하나님은 오늘도 극적인 상황을 통해 영광 받으시기를 기뻐하십니다. 은혜로 사는 몸 마음껏 주님께 영광을 돌립시다. 우리 모두 주님 오시는 그날에 의의 면류관 받아쓰는 성도들이 되시기를 기원합니다. - 아멘 -

I think that the family that received the most love than anyone during the three years of the Lord's public life were Lazarus, Martha, and Mary living in Bethany. When the Lord entered Jerusalem, he found Lazarus' house and stayed there, so you can see that his love for the Lord was different.

The resurrection of Lazarus from the tomb is recorded only in the Gospel of John, but there are various speculations as to why it is not recorded in other Gospels as being so important. The reason is that if you write , you could suffer more persecution from the Jews.

 

1. Bethany

Bethany is a village on the eastern slopes of the Mount of Olives, with a population of about a thousand and about 3 km from Jerusalem. Also on the way to Jericho, Beth-phage, where the Lord sent His disciples to fetch a colt when he entered Jerusalem, is near Bethany. Bethany also has the house of Simon the leper, whom he sees as the same person.

Bethany is the village where the Lord's beloved Lazarus and his family lived, and it is the place where Christ was shown to be the Messiah through the resurrection of Lazarus from the dead.

“Jesus took them as far as Bethany, and lifted his hand and blessed them, and when he had blessed them, he left them and took them up to heaven” (Luke 24:50-51).

Now in the village of Bethany is the Memorial Church of Lazarus.

 

2. Sick Lazarus

The greatest misfortunes for mankind are disease and death, which is the retribution of sin. This includes both self-crime and original sin. Life cannot avoid the retribution of original sin from birth. If there is only hope in this life, it is that the Messiah has come into the world. Now, through the atonement of Jesus Christ, sinners who have broken down have been forgiven, and through Christ, misery has been changed into happiness and death into life.

Augustine glorifies suffering.

"Pain is like looking at an embroidered fabric. Looking at the reverse side of the fabric, many colored threads are intertwined in a disorderly manner, which is unsightly. To see pain as suffering or absurdity is because you only see the reverse side. The harmony of form and color is beautiful. Those who believe in God's providence see a beautiful future beyond disorder."

The other day, when I saw an article about the death of a girl who ended up committing suicide because she was pessimistic about her appearance, I felt sad that there was no other way. A society's standard of value that takes people for their looks is indeed a big problem. However, the human must realize that depending on how he copes with it, he may be able to do bigger things through his weakness.

Golda Meyer (1978-1989), former prime minister of Israel, is a leading woman who led Israel's coalition cabinet and accomplished great deeds for peace in the Middle East while battling leukemia for 12 years. He said, "It was fortunate that my face was ugly. Because I was ugly, I prayed hard and studied, so my weakness helped this country."

We too should become saints who can boast of our weaknesses in the name of Jesus. It was not unfortunate that Lazarus, who was sick, died and went to the tomb, because he was raised to life through Jesus Christ. I hope you believe that this wonderful grace and blessing will be with you today.

 

3. The Lord Stayed Two More Days

“Then his sisters sent to Jesus, saying, “Lord, behold, the one you love is sick” (verse 3).

The appeal of love can touch the heart more than anything else. When Pastor Robert Schuller of the United States came to Korea to lead a revival meeting, he heard the news that his daughter had a car accident and immediately got on a plane and returned to the United States. These are the words of the Lord when he heard the news that the one he loved was ill.

“When Jesus heard it, he said to him, “This sickness is not a mortal disease, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it” (verse 4).

No matter who you are, you tend to get impatient when there is no action. The mother struggles with the pain, but the skilled doctor is calm. This is because she knows she has to go through labor to give birth.

"When he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two more days where he was, and after that he said to his disciples, "Let's go back to Judea" (6-7).

The reason why the Lord had to stay there for two more days, knowing that the situation was so urgent, was for the faith of the disciples and to give greater glory to God.

“I am glad for you that I am not there, that you may believe” (verse 15).

The Lord healed many sick people. But it is more surprising that a sick person rises from the grave than is recovered. This is also true for the faith of the Jews as well as for his disciples.

“Father, I thank you for hearing me; I knew that you always listen to me. But I say this for the sake of the crowd around me, that they may believe that you have sent me” (John 11:41). -42).

“Because of Lazarus, many Jews went and believed in Jesus” (John 12:11).

 

4. Isn't it twelve o'clock in the day?

Day is a dynamic time and night is a static time. Night and day is the natural order.

If a person does not sleep when he sleeps and works non-stop during his break, he thinks production will increase, but before long he falls into asthenia and loses his motivation. Of course, it's a bigger problem if you don't work, play, and just enjoy sleeping during your working hours. In order to keep your stamina alive without losing elasticity, you need to balance dynamic and static time.

What do you think is the difference between developed and underdeveloped countries? Of course, you can think of many things, but one of them is to work with pride and pride in what you do, and to lose pride in your work and be lazy.

“The lust of the lazy man kills him, for he hates to work with his hands” (Proverbs 21:25).

You have to work when you are young, and you have to work when you are healthy. Do you want to be guaranteed a brighter tomorrow? work hard In particular, we must be more loyal to the good works that please the Lord.

“Are there not twelve hours in the day?” (verse 9).

At that time, Israel set the time in twelfth quarters from dawn to sunset. A person should work diligently while he is able to work in life. The lesson from this text is that we are to do God's work while we live in the world.

“For the hour is still day, and we must do the work of him who sent me; and the night is coming, and no one can work, and while I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (John 9:4-5).

A brighter tomorrow is the reward that comes back to those who sweat and work hard today, and the reward in heaven is the grace given to those who are faithful for the Lord on this earth. If you know that the reward you will receive in the kingdom of God is precious, I hope you will become saints who work hard for the work that pleases God.

 

5. Sleeping Lazarus

“After he had said these things, he said to them again, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going to wake him up.

"Then Jesus said plainly, "Lazarus is dead, and I am glad for you that I was not there, that you might believe. But let us go to him" (14-15).

No doctor can bring the dead back to life.

"Martha said to Jesus, "If you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I still know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you" (John 11:21-22).

How amazing is that? They are the ones who received the Lord's love more than anyone. In the meantime, I have seen and heard many things the Lord is doing. However, since it was a posthumous medical visit to them, the sadness must have been indescribable. The Word of the Lord.

“Your brother will rise again.” Martha said, “I know that you will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”

Jesus said, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” This belief was not enough for Jesus.

“I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

“But he said, “Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God who is to come into the world” (John 11:23-27).

“I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” Martha answered. But look at how fragile human faith is. Jesus immediately found the tomb of Lazarus, and when he ordered that the stone be removed from there, Martha's answer.

“Remove the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead, said, “Lord, he has been dead for four days, and he can already smell it. This is the faith of man.

“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief” (Mark 9:24).

Faith is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8).

“After the faith has come, we do not forget under the elementary school teachers” (Galatians 3:25).

“Jesus said to him, “Did I not say that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” (John 11:40).

“When the stones were removed, Jesus lifted up his eyes and looked up and said, “Father, I thank you for hearing me. I knew that you always listen to me. But I am saying this for the sake of the crowd around me, that they know that you have sent me. When he had said these words, he called out with a loud voice, Lazarus, to come out. A dead man came out with his hands and feet in sackcloth, and his face was wrapped in a towel. .

Lazarus was raised to life, and the glory of God overflowed upon the earth. God be glorified through dramatic situations today
