두 번째 표적

요4:46-54

 

주님께서 사마리아에서 이틀을 유하시며 복음을 전하실 때는 많은 사람이 예수를 구주로 영접하는 역사가 일어났는데 갈릴리에 이르렀을 때는 정반대의 현상이 발생했습니다.

그러므로 "선지자가 고향에서는 높임을 받지 못한다"(요4:44)고 하셨습니다.

여기서 언급된 고향에 관해서는 몇 가지 설이 있습니다. ① 갈릴리 지방 ② 나사렛을 포함한 남부 갈릴리 ③ 유대 지방 등입니다.

예수님이 나신 곳은 유대 땅 베들레헴이요, 성장하신 곳은 나사렛이고, 정착하신 곳은 북부 갈릴리 지방 가버나움이므로 그와 같은 추측이 모두 가능하다고 하겠습니다. 어떤 학자는 주님께서 말씀하신 고향을 갈릴리로 생각하고 그곳에서는 인정을 받지 못했으나 유대 땅에서는 환영을 받았다고 합니다.

우리는 은혜의 귀중함을 깨달고 은혜를 사욕의 도구로 생각하지 말고 거룩한 봉사와 헌신의 사람이 되어야 하겠습니다.

 

1. 아들의 병을 고침 받은 신하

"예수께서 다시 갈릴리 가나에 이르시니 전에 물로 포도주를 만드신 곳이라 왕의 신하가 있어 그의 아들이 가버나움에서 병들었더니"(46절).

혹자는 본문에 나오는 왕의 신하를 누가복음 7:1-10에 나오는 백부장으로 보기도 하나 내용을 보면 동일 인물이 아님을 알 수가 있습니다. 또 어떤 사람은 헤롯의 청지기 구사(눅8:3)로 말하기도 하고, 헤롯의 젖동생 마나엔(행 13:1)으로 보는 사람이 있는가 하면 재판관 중 한 사람일 것이라고도 합니다.

 

2. 표적과 기사로 인한 믿음

"그가 예수께서 유대로부터 갈릴리로 오셨다는 것을 듣고 가서 청하되 내려오셔서 내 아들의 병을 고쳐주소서 하니 그가 거의 죽게 되었음이라"(47절).

"그가 예수께서 유대로부터 갈릴리에 오심을 듣고 가서 청하되"

가버나움에서 갈릴리 가나까지는 34km의 거리입니다.

죽게 된 아들을 살리기 위해 사람을 보내지 않고 먼 길을 직접 왔다는 것은 주님께서는 능히 고칠 수 있다는 믿음이 있었기 때문입니다. 이 믿음이 귀중합니다. 또 그의 아들이라는 말에는 '호 비오스'라는 관사가 있으므로 독자일 수 있다고 합니다.

"예수께서 이르시되 너희는 표적과 기사를 보지 못하면 도무지 믿지 아니하리라"(48절).

이 말씀은 죽어가는 아들을 고쳐달라고 애원하는 왕의 신하에게만 아니라 모든 갈릴리 인을 향하여 하신 말씀이 되겠습니다. 사마리아인들은 표적 없이도 믿었으나 갈릴리인들은 그렇지 못했습니다. 한편으로는 표적으로 인하여 믿는다는 것도 중요합니다. 이는 믿는다는 것이 어렵기 때문입니다. 공허한 상태에서 믿기란 어렵지요. 그런데 문제는 범죄한 인간이 하나님을 볼 수 없으므로 하나님을 무시하기 때문입니다. 모세가 시내산에 올라갔을 때 이스라엘 백성들이 무엇을 만들었습니까? 금송아지 우상입니다.

"백성이 모세가 산에서 내려옴이 더딤을 보고 모여 백성이 아론에게 이르러 말하되 일어나라 우리를 위하여 우리를 인도할 신을 만들라 이 모세 곧 우리를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 사람은 어찌 되었는지 알지 못함이니라 아론이 그들에게 이르되 너희의 아내와 자녀의 귀에서 금고리를 빼어 내게로 가져오라 모든 백성이 그 귀에서 금고리를 빼어 아론에게로 가져가매 아론이 그들의 손에서 금고리를 받아 부어서 조각칼로 새겨 송아지 형상을 만드니 그들이 말하되 이스라엘아 이는 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 너희의 신이로다"(출32:1-4).

표적이 무엇입니까? 주님께서 육신을 입으시고 세상에 오신 것이 표적입니다.

"너희가 가서 강보에 싸여 구유에 뉘어있는 아기를 보리니 이것이 너희에게 표적이니라"(눅2:12).

중요한 것은 육신을 입으시고 세상에 오신 그리스도를 통해 우리가 하나님을 볼 수 있어야 한다는 것입니다.

“본래 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 아버지 품속에 있는 독생하신 하나님이 나타내셨느니라”(요1:18).

“어느 때나 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 만일 우리가 서로 사랑하면 하나님이 우리 안에 거하시고 그의 사랑이 우리 안에 온전히 이루어지느니라”(요일4:12).

"예수께서 이르시되 빌립아 내가 이렇게 오래 너희와 함께 있으되 네가 나를 알지 못하느냐 나를 본 자는 아버지를 보았거늘 어찌하여 아버지를 보이라 하느냐 내가 아버지 안에 거하고 아버지는 내 안에 계신 것을 네가 믿지 아니하느냐 내가 너희에게 이르는 말은 스스로 하는 것이 아니라 아버지께서 내 안에 계셔서 그의 일을 하시는 것이라"(요 14:9-10).

표적은 시각적인 효과뿐만 아니라 신앙의 안목으로 볼 때 거기서 구원의 진리를 깨닫게 될 줄 믿습니다.

 

3. 믿음으로 일어난 역사

"신하가 이르되 주여 내 아이가 죽기 전에 내려오소서 예수께서 이르시되 가라 네 아들이 살아있다 하시니 그 사람이 예수께서 하신 말씀을 믿고 가더니 내려가는 길에서 그 종들이 오다가 만나서 아이가 살아있다 하거늘 그 낫기 시작한 때를 물은 즉 어제 일곱 시에 열기가 떨어졌나이다 하는지라 그의 아버지가 예수께서 네 아들이 살아있다 말씀하신 그 때인 줄 알고 자기와 그 온 집안이 다 믿으니라"(49-53).

중요한 것은 믿음입니다. 이것은 하인의 병을 위해 주님께 간청하였던 백부장의 믿음과 비교할 수 있습니다. 장소에 있어서는 백부장은 갈릴리 가버나움이었고(눅 7:1), 왕의 신하는 가나에서였으며, 백부장은 로마의 군대 장교인 반면에 본문에 있는 사람은 왕의 신하였으며, 백부장의 하인은 중풍병으로 죽어가던 사람이었고(마 8:6) 왕의 신하의 아들은 열병으로 죽기 직전이었습니다(47;52).

치유 받은 동기는 두 사람 모두 주님의 말씀을 믿음으로 말미암아 일어난 역사입니다. 다만 차이가 있다면 백부장은 "내가 가서 고쳐주리라 백부장이 대답하여 이르되 주여 내 집에 들어오심을 나는 감당하지 못하겠사오니 다만 말씀으로만 하옵소서 그러면 내 하인이 낫겠사옵나이다"(마8:7-8) 하였고,

왕의 신하는 "주여 내 아이가 죽기 전에 내려오소서"(49절) 하였습니다.

주석가 벵겔(Bengel)은 "이 탄원자의 약점은 두 가지였다. 하나는 그가 예수께서 꼭 오셔야 될 줄을 믿은 것이며, 또 하나는 죽은 후에라도 살리실 줄을 모르는 것이었다"고 했습니다.

수넴 여인이 아이가 죽었을 때 선지자에게 찾아가서 그 사정을 이야기하므로 엘리사는 게하시에게 명하기를,

"네 허리를 묶고 내 지팡이를 손에 들고 가라 사람을 만나거든 인사하지 말며 사람이 네게 인사할지라도 대답하지 말고 내 지팡이를 그 아이 얼굴에 놓으라"(왕하4:29) 하였습니다.

그런데 문제는 게하시가 엘리사의 명한대로 했어도 아이가 살아나지 않았습니다.

“게하시가 그들보다 앞서 가서 지팡이를 그 아이의 얼굴에 놓았으나 소리도 없고 듣지도 아니하는지라 돌아와서 엘리사를 맞아 그에게 말하여 아이가 깨지 아니하였나이다”(왕하4:31).

이유가 무엇인지 아십니까? 수넴 여인이 그것을 믿음으로 받아들이지 않았기 때문입니다.

"아이의 어머니가 이르되 여호와께서 살아계심과 당신의 영혼이 살아계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 당신을 떠나지 아니하리이다 엘리사가 이에 일어나 여인을 따라가니라"(왕하 4:30).

“가라 네 아들이 살아있다 하시니 그 사람이 예수께서 하신 말씀을 믿고 가더니”

“내 말이 네가 믿으면 하나님의 영광을 보리라 하지 아니하였느냐”(요11:40).

믿음이 보배입니다.

유럽의 섬나라 영국과 프랑스가 합작으로 도버 해협에 해저 터널을 뚫어서 세 시간이면 런던과 파리를 왕래할 수 있게 했습니다. 그렇지만 그것은 모세가 홍해를 육지같이 건너가게 했던 것과는 다르지요. 홍해는 하나님의 능력에 의해서라면 도버 해협에 뚫린 터널은 인간이 만든 것이요, 과학적 산물입니다.

하나님의 능력은 무한하시므로 하고자 하시면 능치 못하심이 없으십니다. 그러므로 우리는 먼저 하나님이 원하시는 뜻과 섭리를 깨달아야 하고 그 뜻을 따라 기도해야 합니다.

“한 나병환자가 나아와 절하며 이르되 주여 원하시면 저를 깨끗하게 하실 수 있나이다 하거늘 예수께서 손을 내밀어 그에게 대시며 이르시되 내가 원하노니 깨끗함을 받으라 하시니 즉시 그의 나병이 깨끗하여진지라"(마8:2-3).

이것이 믿음의 역사입니다.

”내 아버지께서 이제까지 일하시니 나도 일한다“(요5:17).

주님은 지금도 역사하고 계십니다. 우리 모두 주님의 뜻을 깨닫고, 그 뜻대로 간구하여 하나님께 영광 돌리는 성도들이 되시기 소원합니다.

 

4. 시공을 초월하시는 능력

"예수께서 이르시되 가라 네 아들이 살아있다 하시니 그 사람이 예수께서 하신 말씀을 믿고 가더니 내려가는 길에서 그 종들이 오다가 만나서 아이가 살아있다 하거늘 그 낫기 시작한 때를 물은 즉 어제 일곱 시에 열기가 떨어졌나이다 하는지라 그의 아버지가 예수께서 네 아들이 살아있다 말씀하신 그 때인 줄 알고 자기와 그 온 집안이 다 믿으니라"(50-53).

"어제 일곱 시에 열기가 떨어졌나이다"

유대인들의 시간은 해 뜰 때 시작하여 다음 날 아침까지를 하루로 계산하기 때문에 지금 시간으로는 오후 한시입니다.

하나님은 시공을 초월하십니다. 오늘날 과학 문명이 얼마나 발전했습니까? 이제는 손과 발을 움직이지 못하는 장애인일지라도 자동차를 운전할 수 있습니다. 점점 꿈같은 일들이 현실로 나타나고 있습니다. 이렇게 사람의 손이 미칠 수 없는 것을 기계가 처리해 나가고 있습니다. 멀지 않아 인간 지능을 대체할 컴퓨터도 등장하게 될 것 같습니다. 공상과학 영화에 나오는 괴물들이 직접 등장하고 있으니 인간이 기계를 제어할 수 없는 세상이 오지 않을까 우려되는 실정입니다.

그러나 아무리 과학이 발전하여도 영생의 진리에는 이를 수 없다는 것을 깨달아야 합니다. 발전된 의학으로 영혼을 해부할 수 없다는 것입니다. 철학이나 예술도 마찬가지입니다. 우주 과학이 이처럼 발전하였어도 인간이 우주 공간을 다 정복할 수 있습니까? 불가능합니다. 이론적으로는 인간이 광속(光速)으로 우주를 여행할 수 있다고 합니다. 그러나 그 이론대로 광속 여행이 가능하다 할지라도 수억 광년을 캡슐에서 인간의 수명이 지탱할 수 있을까요? 캡슐 안에서 죽게 될 것입니다.

이렇게 광활한 우주를 창조하시고 그 위에 계시면서 역사하시는 하나님의 하시는 일을 보십시오. 그의 총명은 한이 없으십니다. 또한 어디에서든지 우리의 기도를 응답해 주십니다.

미국의 우주인 고든 쿠퍼(Gordon Cooper)소령이 천구백육십삼 년 오월 이십일 일 미국 상·하 양원 합동회의에서 행한 연설 중 자기가 우주 캡슐 안에서 지구 궤도를 열아홉 번째 회전할 때 지상의 사령탑에 보낸 기도문을 소개했습니다.

"저는 이 순간에 저를 포함하여 이 일에 종사하고 있는 모든 사람을 위해 이 기도를 드립니다. 제게 이 비행을 하도록 허락하신 하나님께 감사를 드립니다. 저를 이 자리에 있게 해 주신 특전에 감사를 드립니다. 하나님께서 창조하신 이 놀랍고 황홀한 광경을 보게 됨을 감사합니다. 우리를 인도하시고 보다 훌륭한 크리스챤이 되게 하여 주옵시고 사람이 다투고 싸우기보다 돕고 일하게 해 주시옵소서. 우리가 이 사명을 성공적으로 마칠 수 있도록 도와주옵시고, 우리가 끊임없는 연구와 발전을 통해 새로운 과학기술을 개발할 수 있다는 것을 보여주옵소서. 또 우리 가족들에게도 인내와 용기를 주옵시고, 모든 것이 순조롭다는 것을 알게 해 주옵소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도 올리옵나이다. 아멘!"

모든 영광을 주님께 돌리며 훌륭한 크리스천이 되기를 구하는 것은 항상 그치지 않아야 할 기도입니다.

주님은 지금도 우리의 기도를 들으시고 우리의 사정에 따라 응답해주십니다.

"이것은 예수께서 유대에서 갈릴리로 오신 후에 행하신 두 번째 표적이니라"(54절).

모든 사람이 그리스도를 구주로 믿을 수 있는 표적이라면 우리도 기도하여 응답받는 성도들이 되기를 기원합니다. - 아멘 -

 

 

 

 

 

Second target

John 4:46-54

 

When the Lord stayed for two days in Samaria and preached the gospel, many people accepted Jesus as their Savior, but when they arrived in Galilee, the opposite happened.

Therefore, it is said that "a prophet is not exalted in his hometown" (John 4:44).

There are several theories about the homeland mentioned here. ① Galilee ② Southern Galilee including Nazareth ③ Judea, etc.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, grew up in Nazareth, and settled in Capernaum in northern Galilee. Some scholars thought that the hometown the Lord spoke of was Galilee, and it was not recognized there, but it was welcomed in the land of Judea.

We should realize the preciousness of grace and not think of grace as an instrument of self-interest, but become people of holy service and devotion.

 

1. A servant who was healed of his son's disease

“When Jesus came back to Cana of Galilee, where water had been made into wine, there was a royal servant, and his son was ill in Capernaum” (verse 46).

Some view the king's servant in the text as the centurion in Luke 7:1-10, but looking at the contents, we can see that they are not the same person. Others say that he is Herod's steward Gusha (Luke 8:3), while others see him as Herod's younger brother Manaen (Acts 13:1), while others say he is one of the judges.

 

2. Faith through signs and wonders

“When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged him to come down and heal my son, and he was almost dead” (verse 47).

"When he heard that Jesus was coming to Galilee from Judea, he went and asked,"

The distance from Capernaum to Cana of Galilee is 34 km.

The reason that he had come a long way without sending a man to raise his son from the dead was because he had faith that the Lord could heal him. This belief is precious. It is also said that the word for his son has the article 'ho bios', so he can be a reader.

“Jesus said to them, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will never believe” (verse 48).

These words will be addressed not only to the king's servants begging for the healing of his dying son, but also to all the Galileans. The Samaritans believed without a sign, but the Galileans did not. On the other hand, it is also important to believe because of the sign. Because it is difficult to believe. It's hard to believe in an empty state. But the problem is that sinful humans cannot see God and therefore ignore God. What did the Israelites make when Moses went up to Mount Sinai? Golden calf idol.

"When the people saw that Moses was slow to come down from the mountain, they gathered together, and the people came to Aaron, and said, Arise, and make for us a god to lead us, for we do not know what happened to this Moses, the man who brought us out of the land of Egypt. Then he said to them, "Take the gold ring from your wives and children's ears and bring them to me. And all the people took the gold ring from their ear and brought it to Aaron. Aaron took the gold ring from their hand, poured it out, and carved it with a carving knife into the image of a calf. He said, "O Israel, this is your god who brought you up out of the land of Egypt" (Exodus 32:1-4).

What is the target? The sign is that the Lord took on flesh and came into the world.

“This will be a sign to you, and you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger” (Luke 2:12).

The important thing is that we must be able to see God through Christ, who came into the world in the flesh.

“No one has ever seen God, but the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father has made him known” (John 1:18).

“No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us” (1 John 4:12).

"Jesus said to him, "Philip, I have been with you for so long, and do you not know me? He who has seen me has seen the Father, so why do you say, "Show the Father?" Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? Words do not speak of themselves, but the Father is in me and does his work” (John 14:9-10).

I believe that the sign will realize the truth of salvation from the perspective of faith as well as the visual effect.

 

3. History of Faith

“The servant said, “Lord, come down before my child dies.” Jesus said to him, “Go, your son is alive.” The man believed what Jesus had said and went away. On the way down, the servants came and met him and said that the child was alive. He said, "The fever has gone down yesterday at seven o'clock." His father knew that it was the time when Jesus said that your son was alive, and he and all his household believed." (49-53).

What matters is faith. This can be compared with the centurion's faith, who pleaded with the Lord for his servant's illness. As for the location, the centurion was Capernaum in Galilee (Luke 7:1), the king's servant was at Cana, the centurion was a Roman army officer, while the man in the text was the king's servant, and the centurion's servant died of paralysis. He was a traveler (Matthew 8:6) and the king's servant's son was on the verge of dying of a fever (47:52).

The motive for being healed is that both of them had faith in the Lord's word and that was the work that happened. The only difference is that the centurion said, "I will go and heal him." The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that you should come into my house; but speak only the word, and my servant will be healed" (Matthew 8:7-8). did,

The king's servant said, "Lord, come down before my child dies" (verse 49).

Commentator Bengel said, "This petitioner's weakness was twofold: he believed that Jesus must come, and he did not know how to raise him even after death."

When the Shunammite woman died of her child, she went to the prophet and told him what had happened, so Elisha commanded Gehazi,

"Tie your waist, take my staff in your hand, and go. When you meet a person, do not say hello; if someone greets you, do not answer; put my staff on the child's face" (2 Kings 4:29).

But the problem was that even though Gehazi did as Elisha commanded, the child did not come to life.

“Gehazi went ahead of them and put the staff on the child’s face, but there was no sound and there was no hearing. Then he returned to meet Elisha and said to him, “He has not woken up” (2 Kings 4:31).

Do you know what the reason is? Shunem because she did not accept it as her faith.

"The child's mother said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. Elisha got up and followed her woman" (2 Kings 4:30).

“Go, your son is alive.” The man believed what Jesus had said and went away.

“Did I not say that if you believe you will see the glory of God” (John 11:40).

Faith is a treasure.

The European island nations Britain and France have jointly drilled an undersea tunnel in the Strait of Dover, making it possible to travel between London and Paris in three hours. But it is different from Moses who made the Red Sea cross like land. If the Red Sea is by the power of God, the tunnel in the Dover Strait is man-made and a scientific product.

The power of God is infinite, so if you want to do it, there is nothing impossible. Therefore, we must first understand the will and providence of God and pray according to that will.

“A leper came and bowed down and said, “Lord, if you will, you can make him clean.” Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I want to, be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” (Matthew 8: 2-3).

This is the history of faith.

“My Father works until now, and I work” (John 5:17).

The Lord is still at work. I hope that all of us will understand the will of the Lord and pray according to His will to become saints who glorify God.

 

4. Ability to transcend time and space

“Jesus said to him, “Go, your son is alive.” The man believed what Jesus had said and went. On the way down, his servants came and met him and said that the child was alive. You have fallen.” His father knew that it was the time when Jesus said that your son was alive, and he and all his household believed” (50-53).

"Yesterday at seven o'clock the heat has gone."

Jewish time starts at sunrise and counts as a day until the morning of the next day, so it is now one o'clock in the afternoon.

God transcends time and space. How advanced is scientific civilization today? Now even people with disabilities who cannot move their hands and feet can drive a car. More and more dreams are becoming a reality. In this way, machines are taking care of things beyond the reach of human hands. It is likely that computers will appear that will replace human intelligence in the near future. Since the monsters from science fiction movies are appearing directly, it is fearful that a world will come where humans cannot control machines.

However, we must realize that no matter how advanced science is, we cannot reach the truth of eternal life. The point is that advanced medicine cannot dissect the soul. The same goes for philosophy and art. Even with such advances in space science, can humans conquer all space? Impossible. Theoretically, humans could travel through space at the speed of light. But even if light travel is possible according to the theory, can a human lifespan in a capsule last for hundreds of millions of light years? You will die inside the capsule.

Look at the work of God who created this vast universe and was working on it. His intelligence is limitless. And wherever we are, our prayers are answered give it

A prayer sent by the American astronaut Major Gordon Cooper to the command tower on the ground when he orbited the earth for the ninth time in the space capsule during a speech delivered at the joint meeting of the US Senate and House of Representatives on May 21, 1963, introduced.

Giving all glory to the Lord and asking to be a good Christian is a prayer that should never cease.

The Lord still hears our prayers and answers our prayers according to our circumstances.

“This was the second sign that Jesus performed after he came from Judea to Galilee” (verse 54).

If it is a sign that all people can believe in Christ as their Savior, we pray that we too will become believers who receive answers to prayer. - Amen -
