수가성 우물가에서

요4:1-9

 

요한복음 1:43에 이어 주님이 유대에서 갈릴리로 행하시는 제2차 노정에서 발생한 사건으로, 이것은 요한복음에만 기록되어 있습니다.

 

1. 예수님의 인성

주님은 유대를 떠나 다시 갈릴리로 가시다가, 사마리아에 있는 야곱의 우물가에 머물게 되었습니다.

"예수께서 길 가시다가 피곤하여"(6절).

여기서 발견할 수 있는 것은 완전한 인간의 몸으로 오신 예수님의 육신입니다. 교회사에 보면 그리스도의 인성과 신성을 두고 많은 논쟁이 있었는데 대표적인 것은 아리우스와 아다나시우스의 논쟁입니다. 아리우스는 그리스도의 신성만 주장하므로 십자가의 고난마저 의미를 잃게 하였으므로 결국 니케아 총회에서 이단으로 정죄 하였습니다.

"우리에게 있는 대제사장은 우리의 연약함을 동정하지 못하신 이가 아니요 모든 일에 우리와 똑같이 시험을 받으신 이로되 죄는 없으시니라"(히4:15).

곤한 몸을 입으시고 수가성 우물을 찾으신 주님께서는 오늘은 진리의 성령으로 오셔서 갈한 영혼들을 해갈해 주심을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

 

2. 야곱의 우물

"사마리아에 있는 수가라 하는 동네에 이르시니 야곱이 그 아들 요셉에게 준 땅이 가깝고 거기 또 야곱의 우물이 있더라 예수께서 길 가시다가 피곤하여 우물곁에 그대로 앉으시니 때가 여섯 시쯤 되었더라"(5-6).

이스라엘 족장들이 가나안 땅에 정착한 이후 걸어온 발자취를 살펴보면, 우물이 얼마나 중요했던가를 알 수 있습니다. 야곱의 우물도 기록상으로는 달리 근거가 없으나 오랜 전설이 있는 것은 사실입니다. 지금도 이 우물은 나블루스에서 약 1km 떨어진 지점에 있습니다. 천육구십칠 년도 조사에서는 깊이가 32m에 물 깊이는 5m인데 천팔백사십일 년에 다시 조사했을 때는 깊이가 23m였다고 합니다.

 

3. 주님과 만난 여인

"사마리아 여자 한 사람이 물을 길으러 왔으매"(7절).

이는 그 여인에게 있어서 일상적인 생활이었으므로 물을 구하기 위해 하루도 빠짐없이 그곳을 오고 갔을 줄 압니다. 그런데 그날이 자신의 운명을 바꾼 중요한 날이 된 것은 주님을 만났기 때문입니다. 사람들은 이러한 기회를 우연으로 간주하고 또 재수가 좋았다고 합니다. 그러나 우리는 여기서 하나님의 구원 섭리를 발견할 수 있습니다. 물론 이러한 일은 어느 특정 인물에게 국한된 것이라 할 수도 있을 것입니다. 그러나 때와 장소가 다른 것뿐이요, 복음에 참여할 수 있는 기회는 동등하게 보장되어 있음을 믿으셔야 합니다. 다만 그 기회를 어떻게 받아들이느냐에 있습니다. 어느 날 걸려온 전화입니다.

"목사님, 우리 구역 식구 가정에 아기가 아파서 어려움을 겪고 있는데 목사님이 심방을 해 주셨으면 고맙겠습니다." 저녁 시간인데 그러자고 약속을 하고 갔더니 마침 남편 되는 사람이 밖으로 나와 급히 차를 타고 어디로 가려고 했습니다. 어디 가느냐고 물었더니 바쁜 일이 있다는 핑계였습니다.

"지금 목사님이 심방 오셨는데 그럴 수가 있느냐?"고 하는 집사님의 성화에 발길을 돌이켜 함께 예배를 드렸는데 알고 보니 일부러 피하다가 붙들렸다는 것입니다.

여러분! 구원의 기회를 잃지 않도록 주의하십시오. 복 받을 기회도 마찬가지입니다.

"우리가 하나님과 함께 일하는 자로서 너희를 권하노니 하나님의 은혜를 헛되이 받지 말라"(고후6:1).

 

4. 사마리아 여인의 편견

"사마리아 여자 한 사람이 물을 길으러 왔으매 예수께서 물을 좀 달라 하시니 이는 제자들이 먹을 것을 사러 그 동네에 들어갔음이러라"(7-8).

마침 피곤하고 목마른 시간이라 주님께서는 물을 요구하셨습니다. 그런데 그 여인의 반응은 어떠했습니까?

"당신은 유대인으로서 어찌하여 사마리아 여자인 나에게 물을 달라 하나이까 하니 이는 유대인이 사마리아인과 상종하지 아니함이러라"(9절).

유의할 것은 사마리아 여인의 눈에 비친 예수님의 모습입니다. 30년 동안이나 복쪽 나사렛 동네에서 살았던 주님을 향해 어떻게 이런 말을 했을까 하는 것입니다. 나다나엘이 빌립에게 한 말을 보십시오.

"나사렛에서 무슨 선한 것이 날 수 있느냐"(요1:46).

뿐만 아니라 바리새인들이 니고데모에게 한 말도 마찬가지였습니다.

"우리 율법은 사람의 말을 듣고 그 행한 것을 알기 전에 심판하느냐 그들이 대답하여 이르되 너도 갈릴리에서 왔느냐 찾아보라 갈릴리에서는 선지자가 나지 못하느니라"(요7:51-52).

물론 사마리아 여인과 주고받은 대화에서 많은 부분이 생략된 줄 압니다. 그러나 중요한 것은 그 여인의 잘못된 편견입니다. 이렇게 잘못된 인식은 중대한 과오를 낳을 수 있습니다.

사람마다 외모가 다름같이 취향도, 구미도 가지가지다.

본래 내게는 입맛을 가리지 않고 산다는 것이 큰 복이라 생각된다.

고생하던 옛날을 생각하면 어떻게 감사드려야 할지 알 수가 없다.

음식도 선입관이 영향을 미친다.

질겁하는 사람이 있는 것 같다

누가 나에게 낙지가 무엇으로 보이느냐 묻는다면

먹는 것으로 답변을 대신하고 싶은데,,,.

 

주님의 전도 방법을 보십시오. 주님께서 "회개하고 나를 믿으라 내가 곧 메시아니라" 이렇게 말씀하지 않으시고 평범한 대화로 시작했습니다. 무엇 때문일까요? 먼저 그 여인의 잘못된 편견을 바로 잡고 마음 밭을 경작하기 위해서였습니다. 경건에는 능력이 있어야 하지만 전도는 지혜가 필요합니다. 돌짝 밭, 길가 밭, 가시떨기라면 열매을 기대할 수 없기 때문입니다. 돌짝 밭은 돌을 제하고, 길가라면 개간을 하고, 가시떨기는 가시를 제해야 하지요. 그 후에 알곡을 뿌려야 삼십 배, 육십 배, 백 배의 수확을 얻게 될 줄 믿습니다.

"당신은 유대인으로서" 물론 주님께서 유대인이라는 어떤 표식이 몸에 있었으리라 생각하지는 않습니다. 다만 예루살렘에서 갈릴리로 행하는 그 일정 때문에 그런 말이 나왔을 수도 있습니다. 우리 모두 편견을 버리고 지극히 작은 소자를 통해서도 그리스도를 볼 수 있는 성도되기를 소원합니다.

 

5. 하나님의 선물

"네가 만일 하나님의 선물과 또 네게 물 좀 달라 하는 이가 누구인 줄 알았더라면 네가 그에게 구하였을 것이요 그가 생수를 네게 주었으리라"(요4:10).

생각해 보면 물이 문제가 아니지요, 누가 누구에게 구해야 할 입장입니까? 사마리아 여인입니다. 그러나 복음을 전하는 사람은 사명이 있기에 찾아가는 것입니다. 그러므로 전도자는 사명 때문에 산을 넘고, 물을 건너, 어디든지 또 누구에게든지 찾아갑니다. 한 사람의 생명이 천하보도 귀하기에 찾아가는 것이요, 이것이 주님의 지상명령이기 때문입니다. 그러므로 우리는 그리스도의 마음으로 복음을 전할 때에 어떠한 일이 있어도 포기해서는 안 될 것입니다.

"네가 만일 하나님의 선물과 또 네게 물 좀 달라 하는 이가 누구인 줄 알았더라면"(요4:10)

지금 사마리아 여인 앞에서 이 말씀을 하시는 분이 누구십니까? 구세주 예수님이십니다. 그런데 그 여인이 왜 몰랐을까요? 그리스도를 보는 눈이 어두웠기 때문입니다. 의심의 안개를 걷어 버리십시오. 잘못된 선입관념도 바로 잡으셔야 합니다. 진리는 멀리 있는 것이 아닙니다. 심히 가까워 지금 이 자리에, 또 내 마음 속에 계심을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

 

6. 여인의 간구

"주여 물 길을 그릇도 없고 이 우물은 깊은데 어디서 당신이 그 생수를 얻겠사옵나이까 우리 조상 야곱이 이 우물을 우리에게 주셨고 또 여기서 자기와 자기 아들들과 짐승이 다 마셨는데 당신이 야곱보다 더 크니이까"(요 4:11-12).

"이 물을 마시는 자마다 다시 목마르려니와 내가 주는 물을 마시는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리니 내가 주는 물은 그 속에서 영생하도록 솟아나는 샘물이 되리라"(요4:13-14).

"주여 그런 물을 내게 주사 목마르지도 않고 또 여기 물 길으러 오지도 않게 하옵소서"(요4:15).

선한 목자와 양의 대화요, 죄인과 구주의 대화입니다. 여기에서 아쉬운 것은 아직도 주님과 진정한 대화가 되지 못하고 있다는 것입니다. 주님의 말씀은 영에 속한 것인데 사마리아 여인은 육신의 생각으로 받아들이고 있기 때문입니다. 그럴지라도 주님은 그 여인을 포기하지 않으시고 한 단계, 한 단계 더 깊은 대화로 들어가고 있습니다.

기억할 것은 세속적인 생활과 영적인 생활입니다. 우리가 생수의 은혜를 받았다 할지라도 육신이 살아있는 동안은 육신의 생활을 계속 해야 된다는 것입니다. 그러나 영의 생각 곧 믿음으로 살아갈 때 우리의 앞길은 생명과 영광에 이를 줄 믿습니다.

 

7. 네 남편을 불러오라

"네 남편을 불러오라"(요4:16).

사마리아 여인으로서는 뜻밖의 일로서 그것은 감추고 싶은 수치입니다. 그런데 여기서 그녀는 인간적인 가면에서 벗어나 주님과 진실한 대화를 찾게 됩니다. 진리는 외식을 배격합니다. 죄인이 스스로 죄인 됨을 인정하고 회개할 때 진실이 싹틀 수 있는 것입니다.

"나는 남편이 없나이다"(요4:17).

이 말은 일반사람이 들었다면 그가 처녀이거나 과부로 들릴 수 있으나 사실은 죄 많은 여인이었습니다. 주님은 그 여인의 과거와 현재를 모두를 다 알고 계시는 분입니다.

"네가 남편이 없다 하는 말이 옳도다 너에게 남편 다섯이 있었고 지금 있는 자도 네 남편이 아니니 네 말이 참되도다"(요4:17-18).

여기서 그 여인의 태도는 돌변하게 됩니다. 생면부지의 사람이 자신의 숨겨둔 과거를 거울같이 보고 있다는 사실 앞에서 비로소 머리를 숙이게 되었습니다.

"주여 내가 보니 선지자로소이다"(요4:19).

이제 주님에 대한 인식이 달라졌습니다. 또 여기서 복음의 접촉점이 이루어지게 된 것입니다. 마귀는 우리의 약점을 올가미로 삼을지라도 주님은 그것을 통해 우리를 영생 길로 인도함을 믿으시기 바랍니다.

 

8. 참된 제사

"너희는 알지 못하는 것을 예배하고 우리는 아는 것을 예배하노니 이는 구원이 유대인에게서 남이니라"(요4:22).

주님께서 사마리아인과 유대인의 차등을 두는 것은 혈통이 아닌 진리에서 생각해야 합니다. 곧 아브라함과 다윗에게 언약한 메시아의 구원으로, 이는 율법과 선지자들에 의해 예언된 그리스도를 가리키는 것입니다.

“너희가 성경에서 영생을 얻는 줄 생각하고 성경을 연구하거니와 이 성경이 곧 내게 대하여 증언하는 것이니라”(요5:39).

"여자여 내 말을 믿으라 이 산에서도 말고 예루살렘에서도 말고 너희가 아버지께 예배할 때가 이르리라 너희는 알지 못하는 것을 예배하고 우리는 아는 것을 예배하노니 이는 구원이 유대인에게서 남이라 아버지께 참되게 예배하는 자들은 영과 진리로 예배할 때가 오나니 곧 이때라 아버지께서는 자기에게 이렇게 예배하는 자들을 찾으시느니라"(요4:21-23).

진리를 알지 못한 경건이 있을 수 있을까요? 하나님을 알지 못한 제사도 의식에 치우칠 뿐입니다. 진리를 알고 깨닫는 것이 진정한 경건이요, 또 영과 진리의 예배가 될 수 있습니다.

"하나님은 영이시니 예배하는 자가 영과 진리로 예배할지니라"(요4:24).

"여자가 이르되 메시아 곧 그리스도라 하는 이가 오실 줄을 내가 아노니 그가 오시면 모든 것을 우리에게 알려주시리이다 예수께서 이르시되 네게 말하는 내가 그라 하시니라"(요4:25-26).

그 순간 사마리아 여인의 눈과 귀는 번쩍하고 열리게 되었습니다. 이제는 예수님이 단순한 유대인의 한 남자가 아닌 나를 구원하실 메시아로 오신 분임을 알게 되었습니다. 그 순간 예수님의 외모가 달라져서 그럴까요? 변한 것이 있다면 그 여인의 마음입니다. 이제는 모든 것이 변화되었습니다. 물동이를 버려두고 동네로 들어가서 외쳤습니다. 메시아를 만난 이 여인의 외침 소리에 어떤 반응이 일어났는지 보십시오.

"내가 행한 모든 일을 내게 말한 사람을 와서 보라 이는 그리스도가 아니냐 하니 그들이 동네에서 나와 예수께로 오더라"(요4:29-30).

수가성 우물가에서 일어난 이 역사가 우리에게 주는 교훈은 생명의 역사, 구원의 역사입니다. 오늘 이 큰 은혜와 축복이 우리 모두에게 충만하기를 기원합니다. - 아멘 -

 

 

At the well of Sugaseong

John 4:1-9

 

Following John 1:43, this event occurred in the second journey of the Lord from Judea to Galilee, and this is recorded only in the Gospel of John.

 

1. Jesus' humanity

The Lord left Judea and went back to Galilee, and stayed at Jacob's well in Samaria.

“Jesus was on the road, and he was weary” (verse 6).

What can be found here is the body of Jesus who came as a perfect human body. In the history of the church, there have been many debates over the humanity and divinity of Christ, and the representative one is the debate between Arius and Athanasius. As Arius claimed only the divinity of Christ, even the suffering of the cross lost its meaning, so it was ultimately condemned as heresy at the General Assembly of Nicaea.

“We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all respects as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

Please believe that the Lord, who found a well in Suga in a weary body, will come today as the Spirit of truth and quench thirsty souls.

 

2. Jacob's Well

“When he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph, there was also Jacob’s well. ).

If you look at the footsteps of the Israeli patriarchs after they settled in the land of Canaan, you can see how important the well was. The well of Jacob has no other basis in the records, but it is true that there is an old legend. Even today, the well is located about a kilometer from Nablus. According to the survey in 1,697, the depth was 32m and the water was 5m deep.

 

3. The woman who met the Lord

“A Samaritan woman came to draw water” (verse 7).

This was her daily life for the woman, so she knew she would come and go there every day to get water. But that day became an important day that changed his destiny because he met the Lord. People regard this opportunity as a coincidence and say they are lucky. But we can discover God's providence of salvation here. Of course, it could be said that this work is limited to a specific person. However, you must believe that the time and place are different, and the opportunity to participate in the Gospel is equally guaranteed. It just depends on how you take the opportunity. It's a call from one day.

“Pastor, we are having a difficult time with a sick baby in our district, and I would be grateful if you would visit us.” Even though it was dinner time, I went to make an appointment, and the man who was her husband just came out and got in a car in a hurry to go somewhere. When she asked where she was going, she said that she was busy with work.

At the deacon's torch, "The pastor has come to visit me now, can you do that?" I turned around and worshiped together, but it turned out that he was caught while deliberately avoiding it.

everyone! Be careful not to lose your chance of salvation. The same goes for your chances of being blessed.

“As co-workers with God, we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain” (2 Corinthians 6:1).

 

4. Prejudice of the Samaritan Woman

“A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus asked for a drink, because her disciples had gone into the town to buy something to eat” (7-8).

It was a time when I was tired and thirsty, so the Lord asked for water. But what was the woman's reaction?

“Why are you, a Jew, asking for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” Because Jews have no dealings with Samaritans” (verse 9).

Notice the image of Jesus through the eyes of the Samaritan woman. This is how he said these words to the Lord who had lived in Nazareth in the north for 30 years. Look at what Nathanael said to Philip.

“Can anything good come out of Nazareth” (John 1:46).

And so was what the Pharisees said to Nicodemus.

“Does our law judge a man before it hears a man’s words and knows what he has done?” They answered and said, “Are you also from Galilee?

Of course, I know that many parts of the conversation with the Samaritan woman are omitted. But what is important is the woman's wrong prejudice. This misconception can lead to serious mistakes.

Look at the Lord's evangelism method. The Lord did not say, “Repent and believe in me, I am not the Messiah” and started with a simple conversation. For what? First, it was to correct the woman's wrong prejudice and to cultivate her heart and her field. Godliness requires power, but evangelism requires wisdom. This is because you cannot expect fruit in a rocky field, a roadside field, or a thorny field. In a rocky field, you need to remove stones, if it is along a road, you have to clear it, and if it is a thorny field, you need to remove the thorns. After that, she believes that when she sows wheat, she will reap a harvest of thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold.

"You are a Jew" Of course, I don't think there must have been any mark on the body that the Lord was a Jew. It may have been because of the itinerary from Jerusalem to Galilee. We want all of us to cast aside prejudice and become saints who can see Christ through the smallest of children.

 

5. God's gift

“If you had known the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water” (John 4:10).

If you think about it, water isn't the problem, who's in the position to turn to whom? Samaritan woman. However, those who preach the gospel come to them because they have a mission. Therefore, the evangelist goes over mountains, crosses water, and visits anywhere and to anyone because of his mission. A person's life is searched for because it is precious, because this is the Lord's great command. Therefore, we should not give up no matter what happens when we preach the gospel with the heart of Christ.

“If you had known the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink” (John 4:10)

Who is speaking these words to the Samaritan woman now? It is Jesus the Savior. But why did she not know? Because the eyes that saw Christ were dark. Remove the mist of her doubts. You also need to correct your misconceptions. The truth is not far away. I want you to believe that you are very close, right now, in this place, and in my heart.

 

6. A woman's supplication

“Lord, there is no vessel to draw water from, and this well is deep. Where can you get that living water? Our father Jacob gave us this well, and he and his sons and all his animals drank from it. is it great?” (John 4:11-12).

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I will give him will never thirst.

“Lord, give me such water so that I will not be thirsty or come here to draw water” (John 4:15).

It is a conversation between the good shepherd and the sheep, and between the sinner and the Savior. The sad thing here is that we are still not able to have a real conversation with the Lord. The word of the Lord is of the spirit, because the Samaritan woman receives it as the mind of the flesh. Even so, the Lord does not give up on the woman and goes into a deeper conversation step by step.

Remember, the worldly life and the spiritual life. Even if we receive the grace of living water, we must continue to live in the flesh as long as we are alive. However, we believe that our future path will lead to life and glory when we live by the mind of the Spirit, that is, by faith.

 

7. Call Your Husband

“Call your husband” (John 4:16).

It was unexpected for a Samaritan woman, and it was a shame she wanted to hide. But here she escapes from her human mask and finds a sincere conversation with the Lord. The truth rejects her hypocrisy. When a sinner acknowledges that he is a sinner and repents, the truth can sprout.

“I have no husband” (John 4:17).

This may sound like a virgin or a widow, but she was actually a sinful woman. The Lord knows all about the woman, her past and her present.

“You are right in saying that you have no husband. You are true because you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is not your husband” (John 4:17-18).

This is where the woman's attitude changes. The fact that the person in her hometown was looking into her own hidden past like a mirror made her bow her head in front of her.

“Lord, I see that you are a prophet” (John 4:19).

Now my perception of the Lord has changed. And this is where the contact point of the gospel came to be. Even if the devil takes our weaknesses as a snare, trust that the Lord guides us on the path to eternal life.

 

8. True Sacrifice

“You worship what you do not know, and we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews” (John 4:22).

The difference the Lord makes between Samaritans and Jews is to think in the truth, not in lineage. That is, the salvation of the Messiah promised to Abraham and David, referring to the Christ prophesied by the Law and the Prophets.

“The scriptures say that you have eternal life.

I study the Scriptures, and these are the testimonies of me” (John 5:39).

“Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. The hour is coming, and now, when they will worship him in spirit and truth, and the Father is looking for those who worship him like this” (John 4:21-23).

Could there be any godliness that did not know the truth? Even priests who do not know God tend to lean toward their rituals. Knowing and realizing the truth is true godliness and can be worship of the Spirit and the truth.

“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).

"The woman said to him, "I know that the Messiah is coming, who is called Christ, and when he comes he will tell us all things." Jesus said, "I am the one who speaks to you" (John 4:25-26).

At that moment, the Samaritan woman's eyes and ears flashed and opened. Now I know that Jesus is not just a Jewish man, but that He came as the Messiah to save me. Could it be that Jesus' appearance changed in that moment? If she has changed, she is her heart. Now everything has changed. She left her water jar and went into her neighborhood and cried. See what happened to her cry of this woman who met her Messiah.

“Come and see a man who told me all that I have done. Is this not the Christ?” They came out of the town and came to Jesus” (John 4:29-30).

The lesson that this history, which took place at the well of Sugaseong, teaches us, is the history of life and the history of salvation. May this great grace and blessing be filled with all of us today. - Amen -
